  1. I think that the fact that nothing is discussed openly and that private messages are always sent is pretty telling - people are generally willing to post positive reviews openly. Most complaints from people seem to be management related rather than day to day child care, so consider how much you can accept this?
  2. THanks James - this is a good step. Did they indicate a timescale for this? I think (fairly) that people's expectations on such an assessment would be that it would be completed in a matter of weeks, rather than months or years. Just cautious that GTR may not have the same expectations.
  3. Hi Claire In terms of art stuff locally there is very little for that particular age group - most stuff round here is focussed on pre-schoolers during the week. Main thoughts are - the age range is quite wide. I have a just 5 year old, not sure I'd like to try to do stuff with her and 10 year olds in the same session as the skills would be very different if it was a drop off arrangement (might be easier with parents staying) I think you'd either have to make it drop off or parents staying but have a clear line on it. A mixture would be pretty unsuccessful I'd think. Some kind of theme is generally helpful
  4. Firstly - its really not unusual for breastfeeding to be hard at first - thats not to say just hang in there and it will improve, getting the right help is really important, more that its pretty common to have issues upfront but then go on to feed successfully. I had lots of issues with breastfeeding my first and saw the lovely Anna Cannon a number of times. She used to do the breastfeeding cafes, but seems that she now does private work. Her details are here: https://breastfeedinglondon.co.uk/about-us/ I liked her because she was not only calming and helpful, but really realistic about what was achievable. Good luck!
  5. http://www.rave-a-roo.com/for-grown-ups/ Suspect this may be too young predominantly - and it doesn't seem to have an age limit - so depends how much he'd care!
  6. Just linking in on this - there are a few of these programmes about. I work for EY who are a global professional services firm who also offer a returning to work programme 'reconnect'. I've pasted the link here in case its helpful for anyone: http://ukcareers.ey.com/experienced/where-you-fit/our-programmes/returning-to-work-ey-reconnect
  7. I agree - when we change our car we will avoid Audi in future because of the awful aftercare. Sydenham is particularly bad.
  8. Unfortunately I can?t attend. I didn?t receive the info re date and time and have a work event I have to be at. Id be grateful to anyone who could go along and put across measured objections based on the points raised in objections (ie not that the pub already is noisy, but that this is likely to increase anti social behaviour, based on the responses is not supported by many local residents or indeed local businesses. Makes it unclear who?s interests this is in? There?s no commitment in any planning policy to provide tourist hostels - it?s not a home for anyone!
  9. Hi James As you may have seen, the planning officer for the Cherry Tree application is recommending approval. I know on the other thread you indicated you would ask for the decision to be made in a forum that counsellors could attend / input. The decision is due to be made this Wednesday - 7th March. Is this something you were aware of and are you / Rosie able to attend please?
  10. I've tweeted Southern about this - won't hold my breath. Did they really need it pointing out?
  11. I've received an email from the planning officer following comments that the decision will be made at committee next week, but that their recommendation is to grant permission.
  12. But back to Hammerman - you really don't need to bag your garden waste before putting it in the brown bin, the bags are intended as an option for those who don't have a brown bin at their property.
  13. I think in this instance unfortunately you'll have to go to the police and report that your car appears to have been stolen, regardless of the 'legality of moving your car', on face value it isn't where you left it and preliminary enquiries haven't yielded any results!
  14. James - is it possible to ask directly why Denmark Hill cannot revert to Oyster touch pads and have open access? Whilst I understand the fare evasion concerns, you'd hope passenger safety might override this. Also, as people have noted, many destination stations have gates so tickets are required regardless of whether there are automatic barriers at Denmark Hill.
  15. Thought it might be worth flagging this here, the link is to a specific programme being run at the end of May (over the school holiday) for students in year 12/13. http://www.ukcareers.ey.com/schools/our-programmes/work-experience/leading-women
  16. Thanks Rendelharris, I've asked them
  17. Should have said 'diesel' in my post above.
  18. Just going back on this too - all black cabs will have to be younger than 15 years old. But all residential cars in the ULEZ will have to be less than 6 years old - feels incongruous. Haven't looked in detail but isn't clear to me what standards minicabs will have to meet? Will they be held to the same standards as residential cars? I do support initiatives to make London's air cleaner and its incumbent on all of us to act now, but these plans seem too patchy.
  19. First available slots at JAGS when I rang last week were end of March - just in case you needed anything before then. Otherwise there are some church halls that hire out on a Saturday
  20. Any clear rationale for why taxis are exempt - except for their massive lobbying prowess? Feels at odds to license vehicles to carry on a commercial business in which they are driving around the ULEZ zone all day in a car that would otherwise be subject to punitive charging
  21. Drove through this the first time at the weekend. Whilst its pretty clear that there is a change in priority when you are driving from Court lane towards the junction things aren't clear at all coming down Calton ave onto the junction. Once the lights are on red, to avoid the box junction you wait on calton ave behind what was the previous give way sign, but then when the light change back, you should have right of way to go straight on to Townley Rd. Our experience was though that someone coming from Townley road and turning what is now right onto Court lane just carried on and had we not been expecting them to do that, they'd have driven straight into us. Think that some better signage alerting to changed priorities on the lights might be required!
  22. Also consider if you're working, how you might get to work. For example if you travel from ED Station, you could consider Goose Green too as its a bus ride up Lordship Lane and then handy for the station.
  23. I have a magimix. Not cheap but its great. Had a cheaper one and was ok for most stuff but not great for things that require a lot of mixing. Magimix is amazing - less noisy and no longer has the same burning motor smell!!
  24. Looking for an option for a combined party for my kids when they turn 7 and 5 (boy / girl). Was looking at JAGS multisport as says its a good option for mixed ages, but I'd always thought it looked as though it could be a bit young. Wondered if anyone had done a party there for 7 yr olds or had any comments? Thanks
  25. Thanks very much - shame its not 2018 as it had been getting me through the 'crammed like sardines' journeys from Pecham Rye to Canada water around 8:15!
