  1. Hi, I was wondering if anyone on this forum knows of Rye Garden Day Nursery. I have searched previous posts and haven't got a clear enough picture. Would be great to hear your views. I'm happy for a PM if you you wish. Thanks
  2. I have to say I'm a fan too. Nice to go to a place without worrying about having your buggy in the way. Lovely hot chocolate too.
  3. I too can heartily recommend Silvano. I am thrilled to have passed my test and it was down to his hard work. He is patient, diligent and very calm. I had a few lessons with another local instructor but am so pleased I stopped and changed to Silvano. As the previous man said, he won't push you to take your test until he feels you are ready. Good luck with your lessons (hopefully with Silvano), Jumoke
  4. Hello Ladies, Where is it you all meet? I'd love to come next Sunday. Thanks, Jumoke

    Happy Days

Not only is it a lovely day but The Blackbird Bakery are doing their hot cross buns again. It's the little things...
  6. Hi everyone, I'm due with my first mid August and am looking forward to meeting up. I shall keep an eye on the thread for the date that is decided. Looking forward to it. Jumoke
  7. Did he say he had rats living in the home? I just thought he saw one run out of the kitchen. I wouldn't be so bold to say your home is dirty gran cabrona, especially since you have been rat free for 5 years. However rats smell food and kitchens are where food tends to be so shut your kitchen door. Especially at night. I would definitely keep your dog away from any rats though. Oh and Uncle Ben in my last flat I went to the kitchen and saw a rat there. I had a very old plumbing system you see, not a dirty home!
  8. Hi, I fully recommend Silvano. He really puts you at ease, is very friendly and reliable. As someone who has had lessons with different instructors in the past, I am very happy. Silvano - 0208761 3958 or [email protected]
  9. I have received the wrong post on occasion. It's a bit of a pain as it's the same number but different road. We have always posted the letters to the correct address (it has always been a local address) because we would like to think someone would do the same should it happen to us. However, I'm sure people don't because, well it isn't their job to. I wonder how much of my mail has gone missing as a result?
  10. And Gowlett Road. Just come back from popping out and within the 15 mins I was out, some irresponsible owner allowed their dog to do a colossal mound of shit outside my front gate. I am seething! I am sure there were plenty of eye witnesses as many Gowlett people are doing house refurbs this sunny afternoon. If I only I had caught them! Really does my head in!
  11. I feel for you too. How horrible to experience that and feel unsafe. I too was broken into, last year. Unfortunately some of it was my fault. I share an entrance with upstairs and I have lived here for 5 years and we never used to double lock the main door! I appreciate how completely stupid this is and looking back we naively never really thought of the security risk! STUPID! Well, we kept 2 bikes in the small hall. One morning I woke to find that someone had smashed a tiny corner in the door glass, reached through the tiny gap and opened the door, stole the most expensive bike and rode off, leaving the main door open! What I found a bit creepy was that this person knew exactly what they were looking for and must have been watching our movements and knew which bike to take. All completely my fault I know! I certainly shouldn't have given anyone any opportunity. Lots of lesson learned that day. We now double lock the door, we have security lighting and we certainly don't leave expensive bikes in the hall! Thankfully they didn't get into mine or the upstairs' flat. It took a while for me to feel comfortable in my home after and I certainly don't compare my experience to others in this thread as they didn't enter my property and I might have prevented the theft. I just hope BecsBex (and puppy) is able to move on from this.
  12. I saw the delectable Iain Glenn and the woman who plays Eastender's Shirley in Sainsburys (she is tiny!) and Kate Ford (in one of the many Lordship Lane cake shops) who was rather rude with her bugaboo, expecting us to move out of her way without grateful acknowledgement!
  13. I am getting really tired of irresponsible dog owners who allow their dogs to foul on the pavements. I live on Gowlett Road and my partner and I used to call Hinkley Road - around the corner 'Dog **it Alley' and now it seems to be spreading!! I came back from holiday yesterday to find that an owner had actually let their dog foul on our front garden path! Unfortunately this is not the first time this has happened!! Do people actually confront dog owners when they see them do this? Annoyingly, I'm not sure I would! Anyway, rant over!
  14. Tried Papa John's. Nothing special but filled a gap. Tried the fish and chip place, was suitably impressed. However I need to try cooking at home again!!

Only time i've > ever seen someone shoot heroin was on the 37. > Quicker to walk to Herne Hill than to wait for a > bus. Too few of them!! My first experience of someone smoking heroin was on the 177 - which also starts from Peckham bus station. Maybe it was the same person?
  16. A big no to the bendy bus idea. It would cause so much congestion around the North Dulwich/ Herne Hill area where there are no bus lanes. Dulwich Road would come a stand still - and it's pretty bad around there as it is during rush hour. Plus on those frequent occasions where they appear to be running together, bendy buses would be a nightmare. Even though the 37 would take me to work directly, it takes so long I prefer to get the train with 2 changes. The amount of times I have felt completely exhausted taking that journey from Clap Junction to Goose Green. It took three Radiohead songs to travel along Clapham Common once. Thankfully I love Radiohead! Did I hear that they're introducing a train line from Peckham Rye to Clapham Junction? I hope so. But I digress...
  17. I am a beginner swimmer and have some lessons at the pool. I was encouraged to use a float and go during the women only sessions. I did that today and apologise profusely to those swimmers who had their session disrupted by having to wait for me. About 1/4 of the pool was in use as there was an aqua aerobics lesson on in the bigger section. So there were about 15 swimmers plus the buffoon with the float (me) trying to share the lane. I didn't experience any hostility but felt a bit bad, I really want to swim but am a little disappointed with what's on offer. Even with the revised summer timetable there still isn't much on offer for the 'lane' swimmers. A shame as I love the revamped pool.
