I take it you work in the restaurant industry jacks09 to be able to verify the cost margin you quoted... From talking to my friends in the industry it's no where near that, especially taking into account premise, staff, and other overheads... Margins are very low in the industry so 12% is quite a lot to pay just for receiving an order. Jeremy, great advice 😀
  2. I have to admit that I don't understand just eat or companies like that A friend has a small restaurant and paid ?1400 for the just eat terminal then 12% is taken for every order mDe through it... Not a small amount on the slim margins that restaurants make on food... What has happened to calling the restaurant directly thus saving them the overheads from third party companies and potentially being able to pass discounts onto the consumer ?
  3. Oh lordie Junk food being delivered to people's home, removing their need to walk down to a restaurant and building up an appetite or working off the food they have eaten on the way back - gosh could this possibly be one of the reasons we have the obesity crisis ... I am shocked now...next I expect someone to tell me that fast food places deliberately position their outlets next to or near schools...
  4. Really People get burgers and fries delivered ... Well I never, what next, drive through burger bars 😏 What is the world coming to?
  5. Emilydina Thank you for saying that, I may not be popular either after posing this but I agree entirely with you, people need to take responsibility for safe guarding themselves and their family. Roads are dangerous places I agree but that's why we have pavements to separate pedestrians from vehicles. Granted crossing the road brings pedestrians on to the road but that's why the Green Cross Code was invented (bring back Tuffty and the green cross code man) It takes both pedestrians taking care when crossing the road or when getting out of cars and for drivers to be aware of the danger they present to pedestrians. I wasn't aware of a bus driver loosing his job and I feel sorry for his family, and sadly if this happens again we will start to see a decline in drivers hence the potential for less buses resulting in more cars on the road (a vicious circle) Again, Emilydina, a well presented voice of reason. (Time to hide under my kennel from the howling mob)
  6. There is a tailor on Barry raid who put something up in the business section a few weeks ago. Can't remember the details but a search should find him Failing that jaeger regents street have just launched a bespoke suit service.
  7. Saw this a while ago and thought what a great idea http://www.wired.com/2014/02/paris-subway-remodels/ However I suspect if tfl tried it they would just let the tunnels flood next time it rains and not drain them after thus creating a natural underground swamp !
  8. In the 70s you used to be able to spot the local 'swingers' by pampas grass growing I their front garden, you can use the same principle for spotting Australians these days by looking for kangaroos tied up to a eucalyptus tree outside their house...
  9. And here is the news at 20:23 I have been standing at the end of Peckham Rye station in my duffle coat since 20:18 and no sign of the extra trains yet... Artful Dooger ED news, cold, tired, hungry and pissed off that the extra trains aren't here yet...
  10. Admin What has happened to all the posts that were on here between 5.05 on Friday night and today (Sunday) at 9.05 pm?
  11. The one thing that worries me about electric cars is simply this How is e electricity generated to power them? If the answer is fossil fuels or nuclear then does the generation process produce the same amount of harmful emissions as a standard car does to drive the same distance ? If renewable energy then I suspect that someone somewhere will be complaining about the blight on their view...

I do agree that Barry Road tempts people to drive fast and an ex girlfriend 20 years ago confessed to reaching over 70 coming along it late one night Personally I think the 20 mph blanket speed limit won't work in the end and will sadly cause more problems then it is supposed to solve.
  14. Interesting, looking around I have the same, no other bin marked with a number Maybe it's a bad bin thing as I noticed my number appeared after a touch of Autumn cleaning with the bin stuffed fuller than Mr Creosol
  15. Peckham rye to St Pancras on the thameslink Or 63 bus all the way from Peckham Rye park Guess it depends on where you live to be honest as "East Dulwich" covers a large area.
  16. Tempted to say it's just you but I have the same on my bin No idea why I have to add
  17. Or the opposite, everyone will forget it's 20 and drive at 30

  19. Interesting that the council is throwing a party, who is paying for that ? How ridiculous that when councils are complaining that they have to cut essential services that Soutwark can then afford to have a jolly old knees up for something that is insignificant to the majority of tax payers.... Would love to know who's bright idea this is ...

I have to admit to getting fiery when stopping near a bust (as suggested in your post) but I try never to burst in flames as a cold shower often helps ...
  21. If the prospect of a forth child is on the cards and you want to bypass the usual potty training, terrible twos and selling the convertible to get a baby seat in then follow Madonnas example and import one from another country, making sure they are the age that works best for you. With the current crisis in Europe there are great options opening up for a new member of the family, I for one am looking at Www.adoptasyriangranny.com as I lost mine as a small puppy....
  22. I drove at 20 through the speed camera on Sydenham hill this week and found that I had to go into 2nd gear to maintain it without the engine complaining but even then the revs were higher then doing 30 It begs the question of pollution being higher with cars travelling at 20 compared to 30 Most modern cars have been designed to be efficient at 30mph and not 20 Wonder if there will be a legal challenge to the slower speed limits in the future
  23. I howled but from the safety of my cage 😏
  24. Okay so I am a dog and my pads aren't good on an iPad when it comes to spelling. You are correct it is Dalek and yes that is an anagram of kaled ... Liz, you assume that Davros escapes the hand mines, however the paradox of time travel means that the Doctor must have gone back to save him and teach him the word mercy otherwise Clara wouldn't have been able to say it. Therefore his trip back was predetermined the moment she said Mercy but there isnt any proof that if he didn't go back theat Davros would have made it out alive... A real quandary but regardless it still doesn't solve the other two questions... As for seabag and his question, a catch kids on Dalek would be brilliant but I expect by showing individuality it would be exterminated by the other Daleks ....
