On the evening of the Dulwich Festivals Artists open house the ground floor toilet cistern decided to leak - badly - and we were expecting and received many visitors over the next weekends! Who was on hand the following afternoon to solve the problem 'East Dulwich Plumber run by Jon Jaques. (A local fully qualified Plumber and Gas Engineer with over 10 years experience.) Called Steve, the spin doctor, on Monday morning - not about the washing machine this time but a fan oven that had conked out. He arrived as agreed this morning, replaced the element which he had with him and was finished in 15 minutes - magic! Job done by a very professional man and good value! Contacted Tommy at South London Tree Services to carry out some tricky cutting back of our huge bamboos and bananas - he and his two colleagues arrived at the agreed time, carried out the work very professionally at the agreed price, very tidy and really nice guys. Aston came to see us to try to repair failing hinges on an integrated fridge and a separate freezer - he spent a couple of hours trying to fix them and advised we needed new hinges - he made no charge for that visit! Today he came and fitted the 4 sets of new hinges - job done very satisfactorily in an hour! Nice man, tidy worker and all at fair prices. Can?t rate him high enough! We took our friends from Cambridge on Saturday evening,who came down for the artists open house, and we had a fabulous meal 4 sharing plates and two John dories, With sides,dessert and wine a wonderful meal and will definitely be going back!

I can vouch for Wayne and his car valeting service as excellent! This is the second time I have used his service and my 1994 Mercedes convertible came back a few hours later looking like new! A brilliant service. Phil

Does anyone know of anyone in the area that does sand blasting - we have some cast iron radiators that need cleaning as the original coating is bubbling off?

I think most professional quality stone companies are not cheap but you get what you pay for! They were without fault, helpful advice and we chose to use them and, as said earlier, would use them again! P

We stumbled across Diespeker a couple of years ago when we were looking for a piece of marble. This was after a google search looking for suppliers in the area! They are experts, have a wonderful selection of stone and have been in business for years. We would use them again and gave them a review on here at the time. I don?t know the other company though! P

Maybe James Barber can tell us what Southwarks policy is regarding Zip cars ?

Has anyone experienced Zip cars leaving cars locally in their road as ours has limited parking - I thought they had to be left in allocated bays but for over a week we had a Zip car parked and left without moving then yesterday it was taken away and another one was left in its place. I had phoned and then emailed them and the change in vehicles seemed to happen after that. But no response so far to my second complaint. Does anyone know what there policy is for parking on residential streets? P

It took me and two women with pushchairs 10 minutes to cross yesterday and tentatively too - even a bus pulled right up to the junction blocking everyone's view,it's a very dangerous junction with no facilities for pedestrians to cross. Amazed that no-one has been hurt! Has James Barbour commented on this problem?
