  1. Hi Alice, I've just picked up on your post (I've also been away a couple of weeks and hadn't noticed it as It's on James' thread). Just to point out I'm a Peckham Rye Ward Councillor and so I don't decide on CGS decisions for other wards (except there may be cross ward discussion of funding of items/projects at ward boundaries/affecting residents of neighbouring wards. Thanks Renata
  2. Hi all, I've been away, so sorry that I haven't responded. There is planting being done which should improve the shade situation. The weather hasn't been ideal for planting! There are parts of the playground more suitable for younger and others for older children. There is still the older playground to the south of the Park which is more geared up to younger children. There are a few snagging issues, I'll add the screws to this. Renata
  3. Hi Scotale both the other playground and the adventure playground are staying. Renata
  4. Thanks for the feedback. Renata
  5. OK I shall delete some messages-done Renata
  6. I was there yesterday, it was heaving with children up to about the age of 13, I think it was at full capacity! It was great to see the outcome of all the months of discussions over equipment, layout etc being put to good use. Renata
  7. Hi Sue, this is what the company said, I think it was quite general postcode information ie proportion of tickets sold to SE15/SE22 postcodes. Renata
  8. Hi HelBel, I would suggest contacting Southwark's Environmental Services dept. Usually tenants are responsible for garden maintenance, but you are saying that they can't access it? Do you know if it's an official HMO? If there 5 or more residents on more than 2 floors it would need official permission to operate as such. I'm concerned that you have mentioned lack of access to the garden, as depending on where the stairs are situated this may be a fire exit from the building. It is a bit odd that the tenants want to maintain the garden and the landlord doesn't let them. Renata
  9. Hi all, I was at the new playground yesterday afternoon, it was absolutely heaving with children up to about the age of 13! It was clear it is a hit with our younger residents. There are a couple of gate issues to be sorted and the planting to be done. The water pump was being put into good use too. I think. I agree re the skate park for skateboarding! We did notice the issue with smaller children and access to the big slide, Worldwiser. It is being looked into and some hand grips for the younger children may be the solution. Renata
  10. To warn you all, timetable changes have happened again, for the worse. There are now very few trains on the Catford loop via Nunhead/Peckham Rye/Denmark Hill past Blackfriar; the bulk of trains are now Blackfriars only and there are still cancellations today! The service is appalling. My last two experiences of this service (last week) have been a 45 minute wait for a train during rush hour due to cancellations and the final northbound train being cancelled on Wednesday. Why have they still got their franchise!!!!!! Renata
  11. Hi all, I attended a meeting last week with We Are The Fair, Council Officers, other councillors (my Ward Colleague Vikki Mills and Cabinet member Rebecca Lury) and stakeholder groups. To report back for contractual reasons, the amount of payment to the Council by We are the Fair can't be revealed. The payment for the event is going towards funding free public events in the Southwark Parks. The repairs haven't happened due to the weather. As Penguin says, it has gone from very wet to extremely dry a few days after the event. The rutted area is to be dug over and flattened, however the ground is too hard to use the necessary machinery at the moment, we need some substantial rain to soften the clay. Once this is done, the area will be reseeded. We are the Fair are paying for the reinstatement works. There was heavy rain immediately after the event. It became apparent during the discussions that the contractor involved in the dismantling of the fencing and equipment following the event did not follow procedure. There were routes for vehicles that had protective covering down, the vehicles didn't follow these. One large vehicle turned up a day late once the coverings had gone and caused further damage. The issue of contractors leaving cable ties on the ground was discussed. The noise related to the event was discussed. From feedback from residents on Sunday it was noisy to the north and east of the event, more so than the west and south due to the positioning of the stages. Monday was much quieter (I had no noise complaints about Monday). Dispersal went much more smoothly than expected (most of the local train services were suspended that weekend). There was heavy traffic for around 20 minutes after the end of the event. There were a couple of individuals who climbed back into the park after it was closed. It was said that residents should have known about the event earlier (and councillors too!) One of the stakeholders said he had attended the Monday event and had found it to be well organised and enjoyable. He said that there was a diverse group of attendees. The organisers are analysing the post-code data to see where attendees lived. Preliminary feedback was that a significant proportion of those attending were local residents. Renata
  12. Yes, It may in the afternoon as all the barriers need to be removed. There are issues with two of the gates so only one will be open at first until the snagging is done on the other two. I'm sure the long slide will be very popular with younger residents :)
  13. Hi it's worth checking https://www.ourkidssports.com/Clubs/venueDetail/id/4726 or http://www.southwarkcaribbfc.co.uk/html/contact.html or https://www.millwallfc.co.uk/news/2018/july/millwall-community-trust-summer-2018-courses/ on the Millwall site, there is a Dulwich Village one going up to age 16 Athenlay do one, but I think this is only up to age 14 Renata
  14. Hi allure, welcome to the area. I would suggest you look at http://www.southwark.gov.uk/schools-and-education/school-admissions/primary-admissions/types-of-primary-schools-in-southwark click on the link on starting primary school. This is for 2018 entry, but will give you some information about Southwark's primary schools. Renata
  15. It is currently scheduled to be open on the 13th . The "official" opening is on the 16th. Renata
  16. Poch, maybe you could change the title to Pub suitable for a party? The other ones I know of are the Ivyhouse, Waverley Arms (small room) and Earl of Derby at the Telegraph (also has an upstairs room). These are all in the Nunhead area, at the moment I can't think of a Peckham one with a separate area.
  17. The Nuns Head has an upper floor you can hire.
  18. To update re the repair to the grass. The ground needs to be leveled and the problem at the moment is it's too dry! We have had little rain in the last month. Once we have a wet spell, the ground will be leveled and the ground reseeded. Renata
  19. The playground should be open around the 13/14 of July. It's looking great! Renata
  20. They had found some asbestos when laying drainage and this caused some delays. I'll ask for an update and get back to you Renata
  21. Bowling (Elephant and Castle or Surrey Quays) works for all age groups. There are often things going on on the South Bank. Horniman if they haven't been. Check what's going on at the Ivyhouse (eg Sunday Lunch followed by some live music). Depending on when they visit, there are events on somewhere locally most weekends. A good one for all ages is the Lambeth Country Fair on the third weekend in July in Brockwell Park. Renata
  22. Hi Ludoscotts, it's relocated to a purpose built new building next to the adventure playground. Renata
  23. I've been in meetings today, I will take on board the issues raised on here and get back to you Renata
  24. The new surgery times/dates haven't yet been finalised. Peckham Rye Ward has now got 2 councillors and our ward has shifted eastwards, so we no longer have any residents in our Ward to the West of the Rye. The number of residents coming to surgeries has declined over the last 8 years to the extent that we often have no-one coming to see us! We will be doing a surgery once a month at Nunhead Library at 6.30 pm and it is likely to continue to be on the fourth Thursday of the month. Renata
