Simonet your posts scream of serious issues.

Exactly Twirly. It's not the fact that you've made a mistake Simonet- everyone makes mistakes, but it's your nonchalent attitude I have a problem with. You don't seem to have learnt your lesson, in fact it seems you don't think you were in the wrong at all, therefore it seems you will still continue to make these mistakes, in the hope that people will let you off or be 'flexible' when you plead with them about what a 'mistake' you've made. As you have indeed demonstrated.

Gossiping about everyone and no-one, watching Big Brother and other mindless shows and at the end of their time I'd like to ask the embarassing question: What have you done with your lives apart from yak endlesly on the phone, watch mindless programmes that teach you very little, if anything. Where is the adventurous spirit and actually DOING things rather than idly chatting about them? My irritation is that I want the average Female to get more out of their lives instead of filling up every available minute yakking about nothing in particular to fill up their time.' I think it's a sad reflection of society when someone like yourself makes such judgements on young women. If these 'women' you are talking about are teenagers then quite frankly it sounds to me like they're just being teenage girls- what's wrong with that? They're not doing any harm, and they're not judging you as you are them. And please tell me what exactly had you done that was so amazing when you were their age that makes you look down on them so much? I'm guessing you don't have teenage girls Simonet?

Simonet, I am talking about the pissed off attutide you have towards the points you have acrued so far, the ones where you were over the speed limit, not your grateful attitude to the warden who let you off. No I'm not a driver. My concerns come from being a pedestrian which is why I think people like you should stay off the road.

You choose to drive therefore you choose to take the responsibilty that comes with it. Motoring rules are there for a REASON (sorry I felt the need to shout there). There is a reason why you have to drive 30mph in a 30mph area and not 40, just as there is a reason you shouldn't drink and drive or talk on your mobile and drive. Clearly by your attitude, it sounds like you're pissed off, not sorry. You shouldn't be driving as far as I'm concerned. Bring on your ban, it sounds as though it will come soon anyway.

Northcross Market to open on Sundays?
zeban replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I love the second hand/vintage clothes stall. I have to say the food stalls seem really overpriced for what they're offering- like Borough market. Still, it's nice to look around and sundays seem to be particularly quiet in ED so I'd love for something to be going on in the area. -
Untamed- A little bit teenage boy no? why don't you re-enact the kama sutra at home with a girlfriend-much more fun surely. I'm with Huguenot on this one.

Stop advertising Hamlets Gym, this thread isn't anything about gyms or weight loss. I feel as though you're taking advantage of this forum. If you're offering a discount to Mums and that's why you added a post here you'ld be better off adding a QUICK thread just talking about the discount on offer in the family classifieds section.

Exactly what I was thinking IV!

I second Keef, I think it's a great idea -

Waitrose or M&S TYPE supermarket - do we want one on LL?
zeban replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
(In response to Keef's post)Here we go again. I don't know why James had to start this thread about an 'aspirational' supermarket because I knew it would end up reverting back to the whole snobbery issue. You can get frozen food in all supermarkets and they're often cheaper than Iceland. Iceland's round pound deal makes you think you're getting value for money when you're not. For that reason I think Iceland is pretty crap. It's not all about snobbery. I don't 'aspire' to anything if I shop at Waitrose. I just like the choice that another supermarket gives me. I probably wouldn't buy my basics here if they were cheaper elsewhere, although Waitrose price matches Sainsbury's often. But for end of the day bargains and different products that I couldn't find elsewhere then I'd definitely go there. Also, as much as I love the idea of Co-op, the one on LL isn't great and is not well stocked. -
Waitrose or M&S TYPE supermarket - do we want one on LL?
zeban replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I would love to have a Waitrose, NOT an M & S- they're no way the same and this whole 'aspirational' thing disturbs me too, BUT not on Lordship Lane. I think one would be great around Forest Hill or Peckham, that way the independent shops in East Dulwich won't really be affected, the general look and feel of ED will stay the same, but the option for more choice from a different supermarket will be there in South East London. Edited to add: the answer is no to having one on LL but yes to having one in the surrounding areas. -
What do residents really like about East Dulwich?
zeban replied to jfish's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
EMR what a lovely post, and I completely agree with you, especially the greenary and sympathy to nature which is so much more important to me than where is 'trendy'. Most of my friends have the same attitude towards the whole North/South thing but I've grown up in North London (Dalston actually which is apparently where everyone wants to live now Do Not ask me why!!!!) and I prefer South London sooooo much more. Dulwich is the only placed I've lived in London(and I've moved a lot and lived North, South, East, and West!) where I could see myself settling if I decided to remain in London. Maybe you could try to find a studio flat in South within your budget? -
Fair enough Tarot, but if you had put your thread into a better context, and explained it was about raising awareness then people wouldn't have had reason to read between the lines. Don't try to make out that I'm a baddie please, I found your OP very insulting but now I understand the context and that it wasn't a joke I don't have an issue with it. Edited to say how do you know I haven't had experience of manic depression/bipolar? I thought you didn't have any experience because of your OP. Now you've said you have had experiences of mental illness and so have I, and I'm all for raising awareness but be careful of the terms and words you use that's all, this was obviously supposed to be a serious thread/discussion so maybe think more carefully about how you broach and write about a subject like this.
-
Thank you Sean and IV. I'm glad I wasn't the only one to think Tarot's motivations on this thread were questionable, and were not about raising awareness. And the reason why I saw it that way was because of Tarot's previous posts on the forum. I wouldn't have been so defensive if it wasn't for this so I'm sorry if I've become the nasty person but my comment on Tarot being strange was a joke- almost like I was saying no matter how you appear on the forum, whatever you think of others, such as what he may well feel of those on the McCann thread, it isn't acceptable to link to mental illness. I'm VERY aware of mental illnesses, my sister has had an eating disorder for almost her whole life and she's 30 now. A lady yesterday died at the age of 28 from anorexia which upset me massively. Depression also runs in my family. I think when you don't know anything about mental illness which I'm suspecting Tarot doesn't although I might be wrong, then you shouldn't really start threads like this.
-
I hope not because that's not funny at all Tarot, If so it's really unfair and rude to make suggestions like that. I mean you seemed pretty strange to me when you first appeared on this forum but I'd never suggest something like that. And it's a damnright insult to people who have any of the illnesses you mention because they're no joke and there's enough jokes and stigma attached to mental health issues without you adding to it.
-
Tarot I think you're mainly talking about OCD which is treated as a separate anxiety disorder to depression, although anxiety can be a symptom of depression. Anxiety doesn't always lead to OCD. Manic depression is also a separate illness to depression with different symptoms. Depression doesn't lead to manic depression. It's more likely a person will have an anxiety disorder if they suffer from the symptoms you've described above. A nervous breakdown isn't a medical term as such but when the term is used it is seen as not necessarily referring to the illness of depression, although it shares many features of depression and anxiety disorders. Nervous breakdowns are often associated with acute stressors whereas anyone can become clinically depressed-it's an illness. All in all I really don't think you should be playing doctor- even if you think you might be helping.

Hi Tarot, Peckham is really not far to go for a Superdrug or Sainsbury's DKH has quite a large stock of toiletry type products. I like Sea Cow for fish and chips. And there's a toilet in Cafe Nero- I know only one but it's better than none. I like the independent cinema idea but then again I don't mind going to Brixton and I really love The Ritzy. I think just more cozy type restaurants/bars that allow for a less in your face kind of atmosphere (not sure how to explain this better!) but then again that wouldn't cater for the families around here. Also some cheaper places to eat and some kind of noodle/Vietnamese style restaurant would be amazing (for me!) and a Natwest (sick of the ridiculous queues in Peckham)

But the thing is Sue, if you had already made your points there's no need to reply to other peoples' posts in order to show that you don't agree with them because if their viewpoints are different to yours in the first place then obviously you wouldn't agree with them. Anyway, you've all ended up agreeing to disagree (I think) so I just think this thread has been an insane waste of your energy. BUT maybe some people have enjoyed it? Who knows.
