Hang on a bit... People were talking about the Palmy.. About Keith and asking a few questions about some other characters without being criticised or persecuted... .. I (Foxy) filled in a few gaps to jog peoples memories and receive a torrent of abuse from those obviously not there at the time. So I get shit when accused of being negative and get more shit when I post something positive if not sad that all these people have not passed on. Well there are people in East Dulwich who will remember those people. I don't see Ed History getting shit when he talks about the past. So this is a Personal attack by a clique of social bullies who hide behind computer screens against myself and also Louisa. DulwichFox

Yes .. Keith was the manager. his dad was Harry Then there was Ted that also worked in the Heber and The Magdala yonks ago. Ted died 2-3 years back and his brother Jack 5-6 years perhaps more. Keith died 3 years or so. I've just lost track of time. Reg was the owner . Bashford ? Peter was the Sunday night DJ. Sue did the food. ?3-4 for a Sunday Roast. There was Little Billy Barrett and Mitch (Xmas Trees at the Green Grocer ( Franco Manca) both long gone. There was a lovely guy Mick.. also passed away. That really was the centre of East Dulwich . The Old Palmy. and people think things are better now. You have no Idea how brilliant ED used to be. Unless you were there Foxy

Even used to happen in The Plough in the 80's Was the regular floorshow and scrap.. Just a bit of light Cabaret. Same as the Foresters. Always the same people. Locals who I knew so they did not do me any harm. No one really go hurt.. Guy on the piano stopped playing and the landlord took down the mirror behind the bar. Like the OK Corral.. Over in minutes then everyone just carried on drinking. There was Mr Biscuit who was elderly gentleman who fed us .. biscuits. The place died when it became the Bishop. Foxy

Starting to feel like a rather bad parent. I'm talking about walking into the Nursery where the kids are swigging a bottle of beer.. Is that good. ? Foxy -
Beer Drinking in the Goose Green Playground

Robbin I have no such staunch view on the subject. I don't see it as a crime. Local authorities see it as a crime. like I said. "Yes it would be nice to have a picnic in the park with a bottle of wine or a few chilled beers, but who dictates who can and who can't. As long as they are of drinking age there cannot be any discrimination. That means why should it be OK for some people to have a drink in the park and not others. ? The whole issue is a grey area and I have been aware of it for a while now. I have raised this issue with colleaques in the past. I ask the question if James Barber knows situation on the subject. Im not convinced even the Police know. DulwichFox -

Just found this:- NEW LAW COULD TARGET PARENTS WHO DRINK ALCOHOL IN FRONT OF KIDS AS CHILD ABUSERS A new law in the UK which will criminalize the ?emotional abuse? of children could target parents who drink alcohol in front of their children as child abusers, giving the state an opportunity to snatch kids on the flimsiest of pretexts, with parents being punished with up to ten years in jail. Under the new ?Cinderella Law,? denying love to children could be characterized as a crime in the same league as physical or sexual abuse. The definition of such ?abuse,? being solely in the hands of the state, opens up a pandora?s box of potential behaviors that could warrant government interference in family life. Writing for the Independent, Frank Furedi, a professor of sociology at the University of Kent, warns that virtually any behavior that could be perceived as harmful to children could be ensnared by the new law. http://www.infowars.com/new-law-could-target-parents-who-drink-alcohol-in-front-of-kids-as-child-abusers/ Might be a bit extreme but then there are those out there that have very strong views on the topic DulwichFox -

Don't think I have used the term blow-in. Might of slipped the term in somewhere incidently. Had never heard the term until seeing it on here. So don't know if it's a blow-in but Lush Designs sells things that are nice and useful... ... and not taking over something that was already there. Its designs are unique. Where else on L.L. could I buy a Foxy mug and Tea Towels. ? Foxy -

I used to drink/ work in The Wickham Arms Upper Brockley rd back in the early eighties. Used to get my Kebab on Brockley Cross and get a cab from Duke Cars where I was affectionately known as 'Dulwich' . I was rolled there (Brockley Cross) one night and my Keys and Credit cards taken. Went to Brockley Nick where the Police told me they knew who might be involved and gave me a lift home. I usually had no problems and wasn't hurt. Three guys just went through my pockets. No mobile phones back then. Foxy

Don't talk crap... and no. you don't get it. you are just trying to sound clever. People can say what ever they like... when ever they like. providing it complies to Forum rules. Sits back and awaits the usual sarky comments I.E. " Thank you for your go ahead Sir Fox " from we all know who. But I don't have inclination to post on here every time I have a cup of tea or a donut (I don't actually eat donuts) So I post about things I feel strongly about. DF

And with an attitude like that it's not difficult to see how they are likely to grow up. Teenagers being stopped by the Police for illicit public drinking will just say. "My mum & Dad used to do it" and no one said anything. Yes it would be nice to have a picnic in the park with a bottle of wine or a few chilled beers, but who dictates who can and who can't. As long as they are of drinking age there cannot be any discrimination. So as it stands there is no public drinking.. DulwichFox -

I'm not being judgemental. Whether it's dads or mums .. It's illegal.. Not a good example in front of your kids AND other peoples kids whose parents may not approve.. It's about respect for other people which you don't seem to think is important. That's something gone from our New E.D. Respect. ..Or is Respect something only Sad Miserable Old Gits have ? Scalding tea/ coffee dangerous ? Ok so lets not have babies and children in cafes.. ?? Tea and Coffee doesn't make you drunk. I'm assuming parents are taking the children to the playground during the day. It's a bit sad if they cannot survive half an hour in the park / playground without the need for a drink. The drink / driving levels are being lowered because it has been said that even a single drink can impair judgement and reactions. ..and it is illegal as James Barber has pointed out. DulwichFox -

Why did you find it necessary to include your little snide comment..? It was totally unnecessary and uncalled for. I respect the area I have lived in for the majority of my life.. Then you go on to add that the state of the place doesn't bother you.. DulwichFox
