  1. I have not yet been approached. Sounds like a scam. I think that you would not be approached in this way by any Government initiative. People in any area would recieve letters from their Local Authority. I would strongly advise people who are approached not to let these people into their homes. Do not pay any money up front. Do not sign anything. Contact the local Authority. May be James Barber can advise.
  2. Perhaps the answer lays here. Sausage dogs are the most aggressive dogs. Forget pit bulls, rottweilers and Rhodesian ridgebacks, it's the sausage dog that's the most aggressive breed. ?? I don't know. Have a read. Here. Dangerous dogs list. ????
  3. No mention of Ulverscroft Road. Bearing in mind that if NCR is closed at Lacon then there will be increased traffic flow through Ulverscroft Road if only from drivers looking for altrnative route. Mick

I was going to post that almost word for word earlier. I don't think I would recognise anyone famous if they were standing in front of me. I have trouble recognising the people I know somwtimes. :)

It is sung at every major sporting event and so it should be. I am just not interested in Another Royal Wedding. If you want to party then Party. do not need a Royal Wedding to do that

  7. Ok, Question Waitrose or M&S TYPE supermarket - do we want one on LL? Thread Started By Councilor James Barber. 12016 Views 435 Posts. Do we want one on LL? Mixed response. It is not really a question of whether we want one or not. It is a question of if Waitrose or M&S want to set up stall in East Dulwich. If so, Have they already applied to Southwark Council to do so. ?? If there were interest from these two very influential Giants, there may be some scope for people scratching each others backs.

  13. East Dulwich is easily reached from International Airport London Gatwick. First Capital Trains to London Bridge then Number 40 Bus to the Heart of East Dulwich. Gatwick Express to Victoria then Number 185 Bus to the Heart of East Dulwich. Be amazed at the opportunities to waste your money. Local pubs, no need for cash. Card will do nicely. (minimum charge may apply) Visit the new Waitrose. Opening in ED shortly. Just a stroll from North Cross Road Market. You will see the Quaint Terraced houses the locals live in (Guided Tour avaiable) Ask at the ED Tourist shop. Opening in ED shortly.

You cannot Build / Open a hotel on the stregnth that someone's Parents might want to stay for the Weekend.

Why would anyone stay in a Hotel in ED then say travel to the West End. Plenty of Hotels in the West End. across wide price range. East Dulwich is hardly a Holiday Destination. There are some medium priced B&B style rooms which surfice for a couple of nights. Hotel could not survive here.
  16. Hi pablogrande Most of the major Cinemas in the country closed down or turned into Bingo halls 30+ years ago. We have survived without them ever since. Cinemas in the West End have survived for the Screening of Block Buster films. Fine for a night out with a Pre/Post screening meal/beer. Dulwich Odeon was one of the victims of the 70s/80s closures. I think they already show some films at the Old Nun's Head close to East Dulwich Sunday nights. I with a few others are trying to muster up intrest for a local Camera group. Despite people showing interest, getting people to turn up is a different story. Good luck anyway.

Councils are increasinly introducing Micro- chips to peoples bins to weigh the contents and charging accordingly. People should not be putting their crap in other people's bins

Not sure what they are called, Do not know if they need new players. They drink in The Bishop Pub after their local games. I think Tuesday eves. Might be wrong. Pop into the Bishop. you may be able to get more details from Staff there.
  19. Now that's a good Question. What are Southwark Councils Priorities. The main topics of conversation with constant updates on EDF from Councillor Barber are the Extention of the market and the proposal for a new M&S or Waitrose. After the recent freeze, the 4" main in Ulverscroft Rd. burst. It was repaired by Clancy Docwa contractors for Thames water. However the pavement outside my house (which is aspalt not paving stone) has been washed away. I understand this is the Responsibility of Soutwark Council who whould of been informed my the contractors. There are many bad pavements in ED. There does not seem to be any routine inspection of our pavements and roads. Things eventually may be repaired , but only after repeat complaints from the public. ED is Run Down with Dog mess, litter, broken street lights. Much of the litter is from the many Take-away outlets, but there are very few litter bins. There are no Public Toilets in the area. It would seem that as long as we get a Waitrose and expand the Market. ( more litter ) Most people are happy with people peeing on the broken pavements late at night and throwing their food boxes on the ground. and their ciggarette butts. Maybe because the people responsible for the sbove do not actually live in ED.
  20. Not sure exactly how long Iceland has been there. But quite a while now. This would suggest it is Successful and Popular. and therefor deserves a place in E.D. People that post on this Forum is a very small proportion of the people that live in E.D. And not every one that posts here thinks Iceland's should go.
  21. Reading through the lines in this thread, people are saying that a Waitrose would bring more people into the area who would spend more money in the local shops. People laden with goods from Waitrose are hardly likeley to trudge around local shops. If the shops are that attractive to these people, why aren't they coming anyway. ? Do we need anymore people in the area. ? It is busy enough anyway. Most local people who shop in ED. walk to the shops. More people from outside the area = more cars.
