The question was about Boots and I pointed out there were Boots stores in Forest Hill, Brixton and Peckam. You said no one is going to those places just to go to Boots I said They may go to Boots if they are in those places for other shopping I said East Dulwich does not have real shopping facilities. I did not suggest that all of the items not available in E.D. could be found in the other places. Most if not all can be found in Brixton. Morleys sells furniture, bedding, curtains, and many of the items I mentioned. There are Many Clothes shops, Phone shops.

There is no Electrical Shop, Phone Shop, Furniture shop. Clothing shops are expensive and do not carry a wide range of sizes. Try buying a pair of Jeans. There is no longer a Tailors. Apart from Sainburys where can you buy cookware. Where can you buy a clock , a watch, towels, a bedside lamp ,curtains, bedding , Sheets. Shall I go on ?

No, but people do go to Forest Hill, Brixton and Peckham to shop and do use Boots while they are there. Apart from restaurants there are no real shopping facilities in East Dulwich.
  4. With Boots stores nearby in Forest Hill, Brixton and Peckham and Boots currently closing many stores Also with Lloyds Pharmacy just 100 mtres away. I find this a little unlikely. But what do I know. ? DulwichFox
  5. Ok, so not East Dulwich but Would anyone here comment on Lombok Thai in Herne Hill ? Seems reasonably priced on Food and Drink. Any recommendations on Menu. Looked empty on a recent visit to The Half Moon opposite. Was a Monday. DulwichFox.

The Long term much loved Tenant Landlord Keith (No longer with us) and his two boys were evicted. People lost their jobs too. A much loved busy local Pub was lost to make way for an expensive eatery for the wealthier residents of East Dulwich and turists. So NO its NOT just about me. DulwichFox.
  9. Cant believe it is 15 years since myself and many others stopped using the place. DulwichFox

  11. sarahtrinh.wixsite.com is an htpps: secure site probably the name of the person who created the site. I would suspect there is a more appropriate Domain Name yet to be published that will point to the secure site. in fact http://www.148chinese.com does point to the site.

  14. Last night it all looked boarded up with wooden sheeting.
  15. Paid my first visit to The Half Moon last night. 21.00 ish. Very quiet . about 8-10 people in. Was a cold damp Monday evening. Had a pint of Dark Star Hophead. Bit pricey at ?4.50 for 3.8% Ale but was well kept and served at the right temperature. I had forgotten how Huge the place is. No open fire but place was warm due to large radiators strategically placed oround the bar/s Staff seemed pleasant enough and I got served as soon as I walked in. I liked the overall feel of the place. Will pay another visit when more busy. Perhaps try out the restaurant at the back. They stop selling food at 21.30 which is a little bit early ? DulwichFox.
  16. I've watched all 6 episodes. A brilliant production. It's what the BBC does best. David Oyelowo was brilliant, and Dominic West too. I haven't read the book or seen the Musical either. DulwichFox

I paid ?6,000 when I bought it from Hartwells in 1999 Had nothing but trouble at first. Even needed a new auto gearbox. But has been a good car over the years, Foxy
  18. My Old Ford Escort has finally come to the end of its road. It was 22 years old with 59,000 ish on the clock. It still ran well but the Washer bottle had split and the washer pump packed up. It would not meet the new Emissions criteria laid down by Mayor Sadiq Khan planned to extend to the South Circular in April ?? (is that right) Also parking has become so difficult. I'm only doing 600 miles a year mainly for shopping and trips to the dump. I decided to scrap the car with a DVLA approved breaker. They collected the car and gave me ?84.00 I also got refunds from by Insurance,Tax and RAC. totalling over ?500+ a few beers and curries. Didn't need to clear snow off of it this morning. Please enjoy the much valued extra parking space until such time as CPZ is introduced DulwichFox
  19. Now 80% chance of Snow for London by 19.00 but not seen a single flake here in East Dulwich. Must be all the Wood Burners keeping the snow away
  20. Was 30% chance of Snow for London at 19.00 Now 60%

I think that may be an Urban Myth. There may be some truth in the story but probably blown out of all proportion. A good tale to tell Foxy.

I generally only pop in before getting my train to South Bermondsey when going to see Millwall play. DulwichFox
  23. Since the old bar was ripped out and the tiny bar installed it has become a soulless place to drink. Most Dulwich Hamlet supporters give it a miss and head for the East Dulwich Tavern which has become their base camp. Youngs are welcome to it. DulwichFox
