Dulwich Park opening times
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to Andystar's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have seen many people with their dogs, climb over the fence , doggy under the arm of an early morning in Dulwich park! They always find a way to get in! I wonder what the wardens say when they seem them walking their dogs in the park after they have opened up?!That is the Dulwich Library end! -
I have noticed that everytime I get a private message, whereby before I would receive an email from the EDF straight away, I am not getting any emails informing me of my PMs until days later and usually I have already been on EDF and seen that I have a private message alert. Is there a reason for the delay?

I just don't want to miss out and as I am on Lordship Lane, and we cannot close it down it means I will miss out. I suggested Upland or Frien Road because they are the two roads off from Lordship Lane where I live.

Errr I live on Lordship Lane, I am guessing we cannot shut down Lordship lane for a big lunch! does that mean I can join in frien road or upland road big lunch?

Dulwich Fair - blustery but a good turn out..
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to BQC's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We were quite disappointed with the fair this year, we had amazing fun last year and stayed for hours but I felt this year was not as good, there were not as many good or decent stalls as last year, I couldn't believe the cafe ( BBQ) ran out of burgers within a few hours, so we had to make do with sausages when we all craved burgers. The kids were disappointed that the face painting stall was not there this year as they loved getting their faces last year. They always love the victorian fun fair though! -
Flu pandemic leaflet

Got one through the post today, bit late after all the Alleyn school business. This country is so rubbish in times of crisis, I hope we don't ever encounter a real threat because we would be absolutely useless. -
Friern Road/Upland Road
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to anniebody's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have no idea, I know there is work going on outside my window but no idea what they are doing. We were hoping it would be a crossing as lots of kids cross the road there and there is no safety crossing. It looks like they are extending the pavement for the buses. We hope not because we have so many problems on that road with lack of parking and the rest! -
Successful fair on Goose green!
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to BQC's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I agree Sean, I will even take my rubbish home or use someone's else wheelie bin to throw my rubbish in if I cannot find a bin nearby. I don't understand why people think it is acceptable to litter. -
I had noticed that the signs for the boating lakes are still evident, and even on line and on the map it says Dulwich Park has a boating lake, but yet no boats!! Last time we had boats they did rope off some of the lake so not all of the wildlife would have got disturbed. I think they should bring it back, it was fun, I would have thought maybe the people who hire out the bikes would maybe do boats too, least it will boost their income in the summer and spring months! I have happy childhood memories of those little boats!

I don't blame you being worried, I would be too, is it not possible your mother could get a second opinion? did the doctor actually visit her and examine her? -
Swine Flu in Dulwich SE22

I have been told many times it does, my books says it does, my sister who is a nurse says it does, as does my midwife and doctor so I am inclined to believe them. It's supressed so your baby isn't seen as a foreign object. Babycentre.co.uk even states that: Your immune system is lowered slightly during pregnancy in order to stop your body rejecting your unborn baby. This means that you are more vulnerable to viral infections, such as coughs, colds and flu (Murray 2003:197). http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/ref/coughsandcolds/ http://coldflu.about.com/od/faqaboutthecold/a/pregnantcolds.htm http://pregnancy.more4kids.info/64/treating-common-illnesses-during-pregnancy/ And lots and lots of information about it on the website. I have never ever heard otherwise. And I was refused antibiotics completely by the hospital and by my doctor. I cannot take Penicillins either. -

Swine Flu in Dulwich SE22

That is good to know, thanks for that. I had an ear infection, throat infection, flu etc when I caught flu last time and it was not nice trying to heal naturally with no treatment! That is why I am quite scared about catching anything now! Swine Flu in Dulwich SE22

I was not allowed to take anything when I had flu last time, hence the drip, and just two parcetomal. I would not wish that on my worst enemy, it took me a very long time to recover. I did read the NHS website regarding the treatments for swine flu and it said: Does swine flu pose special risks in pregnant women? During pregnancy, you may have an increased risk of complications from any type of flu, especially in the second and third trimester. Can I take antiviral drugs if I am pregnant? Yes, on the advice of a doctor. The Department of Health has purchased Relenza, an inhaled antiviral drug that treats flu without reaching the developing fetus. An expert group reviewed the risk of antiviral treatment in pregnancy, which is extremely small - much smaller than the risk posed by swine flu. Hopefully I won't be needing anything but I am quite tempted to stay holed up at home and avoid answering the door to anyone!:) http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Pandemic-flu/Pages/QA.aspx#CanItake Unkle_Paulie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > sillywoman Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > HeidiHi Wrote: > > -- doesn't help having a > > > lowered immunity due to pregnancy > > > > I don't think that just being pregnant lowers > your > > immunity HH? > > Am i right in thinking if you're pregnant you > can't take the antibiotics? that's not good news > for expectant mothers is it! -
Swine Flu in Dulwich SE22

Of course not, many things can lower an immune system, and since I am pregnant, my immunity would not be as strong, not that I have a great immune system anyway so I would like to avoid everything if I can!! It is a well known fact that pregnancy does weaken the immunity as it is working overtime for the baby, hence lots of pregnant women catching colds and coughs when pregnant and that is the reason I ended up very poorly in hospital when I caught the flu over christmas as my immune could not focus on healing me when it is working overtime with the baby, least that is what the doctors told me! Yep, I read my weekly baby newsletter too!:)) sillywoman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > HeidiHi Wrote: > -- doesn't help having a > > lowered immunity due to pregnancy > > I don't think that just being pregnant lowers your > immunity HH? -

I had the bog standard flu over christmas, ended up in hospital on a drip, doesn't help having a lowered immunity due to pregnancy so now that 6 cases have been confirmed and all down the road from me is not filling me with confidence! My midwife is located near to Alleyn school, whom I am visiting tomorrow, fun!! -

Ahhh a bit close to home! I am wondering if I should remain holed up at home since being pregnant I don't want to risk catching anything! I have not been worrying about it too much as I remember all the media scare surrounding bird flu! -
