My sister actually spoke to her and said that she was lovely but my sister is a bit of a fruit and nut cake herself, had I met her now I would not be scared, more curious as I have realised that everyone is crazy in their own little ways, some show it much more than others of course! Sweary Sean has scared me now with his swearing, I shall avoid him next time I see him on the bus!

I like the black couple, old man and his wife, quite scruffy, but they are harmless, we always have a chat. He even offered to buy me chicken and chips when I was at the bus stop on Lordship Lane waiting to get home. I always give him a wave and talk to him. As for the white woman, I remember her when I was younger, she used to really scare me, especially at night time but I was young then!

What has looks got to do with voices? Mick Jagger, Elton John, Barry Manilow, Mick Hucknall, Seal, and lots of other artists are not what most people would call 'Beautiful' but they had huge success. I think Susan will make money in concerts, musicals and probably singing for disney pixar films, I don't think she will make money being a pop star wearing lyrca but somehow I get the feeling that is not the field she wants to pursue anyway!

Don't bumble bees and honey bees have hairs and wasps don't? I am sure the pest control man will let me know what kind I have tomorrow. I prefer no kind.
-
I've never been called a window before either, I must be transparent! Is it that obvious? Well if they are bees, they are longer and hairless! Not the lovely fat furry type. As for asking how they will inspect the wasps, I am guessing they will open up the lounge window, see all the wasps having a field time in their numbers hovering around, and then go and get a ladder and inspect it from outside, but maybe that is too obvious?
-
Thanks for your message Cate, Southwark council contacted me straight away by phone ( is this a record?! One hour from email to phone call!) and they are coming tomorrow morning at 8am onwards to inspect all the wasps hanging outside the lounge window. I have never seen swarms of wasps before but for some reason or other, we do have a swarm of them outside the window!
-
What about wasps nests? We think we have one outside our lounge window as we have noticed swarms of wasps...I am scared to open my bedroom window now because last year every single day a wasp kept coming in my room and I live in fear of getting stung! I have contacted Southwark pest control today about the swarm of wasps outside my house.

My mum cycles to work as well, she always makes sure when she is in her car she is very aware of cyclists due to the fact that she does cycle and has come across many drivers who have tried to push her off the roads. It would be interesting to know though if her theory has any basis in it, but then I think the most important thing is having more cycling zones for cyclists. I won't cycle, I find it too scary if it is on a road, whereas off the road cycling and around the park is my comfort zone! Sherwick, that sounds like a great idea, how do we go about it?

Lizzie, It is just bizarre reading a paper and thinking " Oh, my goodness, how awful, that poor woman and her family" and then finding out you actually know the person, it is just quite shocking. I know she has left behind two teenage daughters and she was the breadwinner. It will be quite weird going to the gym without her there because ever since I have been going to Dulwich Leisure Centre, Meryem has always been around whereas other instructors have come and gone, and I always took her boxercise class in order to shed a few pounds. My sister is exceptionally upset as Meryem is one of the reason she became hooked on going to the gym as she gave good advice to my sister and got her into the body pump classes. I feel so sorry for her daughters:'( My mum seems to think that it is more cyclists who are not car drivers that tend to have the accidents as she said things like buses and lorries, car drivers would know to avoid them because they know all about blind spots whereas a non car driver probably would not.
-
Oh my God!! I read about this but didn't know it was Meryem! I have taken her kick boxing classes for years and years, she is so lovely and we always have a chat. I know she has children also. How horrid. I feel for her family. I am still in shock as I was intending to get back to her classes after I had baby.

I would help a stranger too, because I would expect someone to help me if I needed help. You just cannot ignore things in the hope it will go away because one day it could be you , when something is wrong, people needs to make a stand, even if you just call the police or get a group of people together, anything is better than sitting around doing nothing. I really hate horrible bullies. -

Ahh I think some people take this forum so seriously! I personally don't care for trolls, and fake people. If someone makes a post, and I want to answer it, I will but I don't think we should all start getting on the bandwagon and making accusations trolls or not, That is the Admin job, because I have wrongly been accused of lying on here too, but you know what? I don't care, I know what I know and I know who I am, and I have realised some people do take this forum way too seriously for my liking. Their problem not mine, I have my friends, my family, my life and that does me. I was born in Dulwich, I shall probably die in Dulwich, and approval or acceptance on the EDF will not change a single thing. Apart from Sean I have never seen anyone else on this forum around Dulwich ( apart from the few mummies that I know through work and buying bits and bobs for my baby). The characters on here are very strong and forceful, and it's up to you if you want to battle with them or just leave them to it. It is very easy to get wound up on here because of the very strong views, I just take a deep breath, say what I have to say and then leave it, no point trying to convince people to see your point, just as we don't see their point. Life is too short for some battles, especially the ones with people you don't know on EDF. -

Blimey! How dramatic is that? As a mixed race person, I have never felt that way about the EDF. Even if people on here are members of the BNP, what is to say our neighbour, shopkeeper, work colleague is not a member either? -

Do you not think it might possibly have stemmed from religion since the Bible, the Koran and other holy books usually do state that homosexuality is wrong and from day one, most countries have been ruled and still are ruled according to the faith they follow? So hence why even today though probably in the modern world we might not be as religious as we were, it is still innate from childhood and our churches/mosques that homosexuality is wrong? -

I knew you were joking, I was joking also as I don't think it is right for rappers to call each other that either. It is either an offensive word or it is not, so I don't understand why it is acceptable for them to say it to each other when they would be angry if someone else who is not black said that to them. -

Do you think it is more the males that might have an issue to it instead of a female due to I don't know their manhood being at risk if they state they would be fine with it? I ask because my ex when I told him I had a gay uncle and a boss who is a transexual acted all disgusted and kept going on about how he did not want to meet them, it is not catching and people are not going to think he is gay because he is talking to a gay person! I just get the impression men find they will be judged if they say they are cool with homosexuality by their male counterparts. -
The Monarchy! Only because when I am on my travels and I say " I am British" the replies I get from the locals always centre around the Queen and Buckingham Palace. They actually ask if I live close to Buckingham Palace....No dear, I live in a far better area!

I would!! I would adore my kid still if it was gay, I might raised an eyebrow at first because I suppose most of us will automatically presume it will go for the opposite sex since this is innate in us, but hey, as quickly as that raised eyebrow went up, it would go back down again and I would just accept it. -

candj Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > HeidiHi Wrote: > > > > And English people do have bad teeth, haven't you > seen the British Book of Smiles? ;-) My teeth are lovely!:'( white and straight! So British people do have bad teeth then? damn! :) I still defy you to find as many British forums and message boards that are expressive in their views and who uses frequent racist terms in their postings than their american counterparts. Oh, and whilst you are at it, find as many British actors, actresses, models, rappers, singers, films, songs, etc that make an issue out of race as much as their american counterpart, and then I will shut up. Maybe I keep hearing all the wrong songs, I watch all the wrong programmes and films when it comes to being made in the USA whereas I seems to pick all the right British songs , films and programmes because they very rarely mention their race. Eastenders last week was the first time colour has been mentioned. -

So to wrap it up and then I am leaving this subject alone, now I have thought about it, the EDF is pretty good because we don't actually use any racist terms, people are just a tad too touchy about saying a person is black, or indian etc and should not be, because it is NOT racist to do that.
