Dulwich Born And Bred

Myself, two Turkish friends and another friend went to the 'Authentic' Hisar saturday gone, we were especially excited since etched on the glass of their window it says they do Pide and Lahmacun two very traditional Turkish dishes, our favourites! ( though I do recall before they did not have any when I went but could not say for definite if it was Hisar) but my friends were adamant they did do it since it is authentic and clearly advertised on their window! so off we went, and they said they do not do Pide or Lahmacun, nor will they ever do it! I mentioned but it's false advertising, the waiter just shrugged his shoulder, said they do not do it nor will they. Are they allowed to advertised food that are not on the menu and they have no intention of selling now or in the future? It went from bad to worse when three of my friends ordered Lemon cheesecake ( I chose banana ice cream) and their cheesecakes were rock hard ( Obviously served straight from the freezer) they attempted to eat it but naturally they could not get their spoon through the cheesecake and called a waiter over who stated all he can do is microwave it.....Well that was an experience! Microwave warm cheesecake! Not sure I will be going back again, I think I will stick to Meze Mangal in future!

Henslowe road is REALLY bad for poo but I think I know why, there is a house with lots of dogs and ermm, let's just say the people who live there don't look like they would clean up after their dogs! I hope I don't get chased down the road by them and their dogs!::o

Different resorts in Turkey attracts different men! Olu Deniz is a hassle free zone, as is places like Dalyan, Kas, Kalkan and so on, but places like Altinkum, Marmaris, Gumbet which is mainly were single girls go to get completely slosh and pull a local will probably attract some unwanted attention, but I find if you are firm, avoid looking at the sleazy men you should be fine. I spent 3 months in Altinkum by myself and I survived, I just acted like one of the natives, refused to talk to the men, and went about my own business. Olu Deniz however was completely different,everyone was utterly charming and respectable, but that is because it is more a family/couples oriented resort. And I won't even mention the amount of times I have got unwanted attention in good old London, so I think it doesn't have too much to do with where you are, it is just a case of being smart, and being in control.

Cool, I dare everyone in Dulwich to go to the record shop and say "Hi John!How are you?!" The poor man will be all confused trying to place all of us since we all know his name and he doesn't know us. So does the record shop do good business? What DOES go on down there? Elvis and 2Pac hiding down there?!

There is none near...I think Elephant and Castle plus Brixton might have a cinema but not sure as never been. I am not having a Peckham/Dulwich debate, and I go Peckham often, used to work in Jobcentreplus there ( don't get me started!) but the people there do annoy me, it is the attitude I just cannot abide, saying that everyone in London has an attitude and as I have one of my own, I don't need anyone elses!:))

I think they have a little sing song over their coffees ( from the cafe) along to old records...but then I have a vivid imagination.

Just be glad it doesn't stink of garlic, my neighbour has a habit of cooking garlic every single day at all hours of the day...yum...when you are sleeping, nothing like the raw smell of garlic to wake you up!(6)

I took my nephew there to see the Mummy 3, sticky floors, dirty chairs, volume too high, and rank toilets....went to Mcdonalds after...only because the nephew refused to have KFC, staff there didn;t understand anything we said, or anything anyone said for that matter so we were queuing up forever whilst we and everyone explained for the 10th time our order. Peckham sucks. But all the other cinemas are so far. They do have attitude in Peckham, Kissing the teeth, walking slow like a tourist and shoving pass people is the norm in peckham...as is pushing meat in dirty trolleys across dirty polluted roads to dirty butchers in peckham...yuk...I used to like Peckham as a kid...BHS, Marks and Spencers....Sigh.

Try Meze Mangals to see what a Meze should taste like and the veggie options is better.

I just go to Sainsbury's and use their clothes recycling bin, you can go any hour of the day and dump it all in there!

I would have thought the embarrassment of being caught, hands pinned behind their back and marched through the shopfloor and bundled to the back room, being searched and having the police come, question you and then being marched through the shopfloor again, this time handcuffed and being led by the police into a police car would be embarrassment enough!! Security guards are supposed to give chase, and catch shoplifters but they are not told to hit them, or use violence. I am very anti crime, but I am also anti violence in situations like what happened in Somerfield as I witnessed the same kind of thing in Kings, a drunk man coming into A&E, just being drunk and slurring his words and falling into things and the security guards uses their own 'discretion' and used violence on him, my mother and I and various others were so appalled, we had to tell the security guards off and complain. And don't you know? Most people are in the wrong job!!

Unlike you Louisa, I am realistic, I know that beating up shoplifters would not deter other shoplifters. They are chancers, if they see an opportunity, they will take it, even if they risk a beating or prison. Also most people cannot be allowed to use their own discretion as they tend to abuse their power of authority!

So if it was a girl or a woman who was a repeated shoplifter, would it be ok to hit her also? after all, a shoplifter is a shoplifter!

Do you also really believe that shoplifters would be deterred from shoplifting from Somerfields because of what happened? you obviously dont know the criminal minds, they dont reason like that. Hence why in countries that have capital punishments, there are still crimes occuring every day!! Otherwise with the electric chair, gas chamber, hanging, stoning, flogging, prison, criminal records etc there would be NO crimes in the world. Get real. If they reasoned like that they would not be doing it in the first place simply because it is wrong and against the law.
