  1. Excellent! We can start stalking you and demanding your autograph. Does that mean if we see you in Dulwich we can add you to the 'Famous people in Dulwich' thread?

  3. There are other threads and they state no trains are running from East Dulwich at all.

It is ok HonaloochieB, I have decent footwear too (only because I have been visiting the country a lot of late and the high heels just weren't cutting it) and I am not attempting to go anywhere today but in my defence, I live in one of those houses on Lordship Lane that has lots of stairs leading up to the front door and they are not gritted, and for some reason today I don't fancy breaking a leg or my neck. Think I will make some cinnamon raisin cookies and have a nice ovaltine.

Impressive!!! I am sure your boss is impressed! Has anyone else turned up for work? I find if the weather is pants, hardly anyone turns up for work and there is nothing to do but thumb twiddling and we usually get sent home early! And this is London, I think the majority of Londoners don't have decent footwear for snow!
  7. Ermm Louisa, you make it sound like public transport and businesses have been shut for a whole month...it is ONE day! I really don't think everyone is going to starve to death and the whole country is going to be falling apart!
  8. I agree Sean, I think it is quite sad that someone would get really worked up and excited about public transport and businesses closing for one day once in a while...I mean for goodness sake, there is more to life than getting upset because Barclays is not open and the buses cannot run once in a blue moon! And you only have to look at how happy everyone else seems to be that they are able to have one day off to be able to enjoy a bit of quality time and to live a little! We need more excitement and fun if you ask me! We spend the majority of our lives working, paying our taxes, queuing up in shops and banks, so I think we are allowed to be excited about having a day off just to have some fun!
  9. I think it is great! I mean realistically, how often does the bus and train service come to a standstill? and for how long? once in a blue moon and for a day or two at the most so I hardly think it is worth getting into a state about! Go and embrace the snow and have some fun! Go on, you might enjoy it!
  10. Fantastic! I love snow! everyone looks so happy to be having a day off and to be getting in touch with their inner child via snowball fights, building snowmen and laughing at people falling over in the snow!
  11. Bawdy-Nan is right, there was a Dulwich Hotel, on a steep hill ( Overhill Road), heading to Dawson Heights etc, but it was then used as a hostel for immigrant, it has since been knocked down and I think it is just houses/flats now. Sorry for the typo with steel and steep! I could not think of the name but I remembered it on a hill as my uncle stayed there and said it was horrible and I had to walk pass it and and tackle the hill to do babysitting just off overhill road where the Hotel was. It's the only hotel in East Dulwich. There are bed and breakfasts but that is in Thurlow Park and Rosendale Road which is West Dulwich.

Hi Sidhue and thanks for the reply, in answer to your questions: The cat litter is very clean, my mum removes the poo every single day and cleans the litter tray constantly on a very regular basis, we have tried various different cat litters also and the cat prefers catsan ( I think that is the correct name) the other litters he would more poo often but with this litter I would say he poos roughly once a week. The cat litter tray is covered and hidden under a work unit in the kitchen. He always goes toilet and eats in private. The layout of our house is quite weird, we are on the top three floors of a maisonette, the front door is on the first floor, but apart from the front door and a broom cupboard there is nothing else on that floor , so up a loads of stairs and there is the kitchen, lounge , bedroom and hallway ( with tables and chairs) and the cat likes to wee in the hallway by the window where the table and chairs are. And then another loads of stairs and there are three bedrooms and the bathroom. He has never weed or pooed on that floor, he just likes the front door ( which I don't understand why because it is freezing cold, there is nothing down there and the floor is just cold tiles!) and on the second floor where his cat litter is but in the hallway by the window! We have tried various smellies and chemicals suggested by the pet shop and such but to no avail. The foil I have not heard of. My mum was thinking about getting more cat litter trays but since we have children always in this house we didn't really want to put another cat litter tray by the front door and by the dining table. He is just the most stubborn defiant cat I have ever come across! ( He even managed to completely scratch up my mother's brand new leather sofas within days of her getting it, despite having a one of those scratching toys!).
  13. Since there are lots of cat experts on here, Can I ask a quick question? My sister when she was younger wore my mum down to get a kitten, and mum gave in and let her get a kitten ( despite the fact that we live in a maisonette and have no direct access to the back garden). The cat ( male) was snipped when he was a kitten, which was about 5 years ago I think, and naturally we have a cat litter indoors that gets changed all the time, but he still keeps weeing and pooing in certain parts of the house ( by the front door and by the window in the hallway is his favourite place) we have removed wooden floors, replaced it with tiles in order for the smell not to sink in and make him keep going to the same spot but it does not work, he still keeps spraying and pooing. We have used vinegar, all means of sprays and chemicals that are meant to deter cats to no avail. He still uses his litter tray but he still likes to poo and wee, WHY?!! We took him to the vet on numerous occasions and they said he is fine and there is nothing they can do. I am getting so fed up with the pooing and being pregnant , I am not enjoying having to clean the poo by the front door. My mum won't get rid of it because she is attached to it now ( fair enough) but it is getting embarrassing because by the door does smell of cat wee! We used have foxes coming up to the front door and pooing outside the front door also but that has not happened in a long time , must be the cat and foxes marking their territory! I am never getting a cat, too much hard work for my liking! Any advice?
  14. I lived in a Victorian house and there are no mices in my house. Not seen any in other peoples houses in Dulwich either.
  15. My poor brother awoke in the early hours of this morning to noises and he looked out of the window and saw a white man chucking one of those road works signs from the roadworks on Lordship lane by frien road at his work van and his car windscreen windows! He then just proceeded to walk off up Upland Road! My brother was furious and went to chase him but he had gone, so he obviously lives Local on Upland road ( I hope you are very ashamed of yourself if you are reading this) My brother got a look at him and gave a police description. Not good because he is a plasterer, and it means he cannot go to work ( which in this credit crunching age, all building trade people needs all the work they can get!). He does not have any enemies, and we are baffled as to why someone would do this. Did any of you see or hear anything ? The van is yellow and the car is blue and it is on Upland road nearer to Lordship Lane end. We don't know if it is a random attack ( has it happened to anyone else?) or if he has been singled out for whatever reason! I just hope the man does not cross my brothers' path as he is not a happy bunny as it is going to cost him a fortune to repair plus he has lost out on work! Some people are just absolutely pathetic and need to get a life.
  16. Hi Keef, I added the link to their website on a previous post on this thread and there is a veggie selection but it is not a huge selection though!
  17. Did you hear that Hisar is serving frozen cheesecake cooked in a microwave? yum!:)) I think you should start your restaurant review there, and don't forget to order pide and lahmacun!

  19. I like Liquorish, it is the place I choose to meet friends and hang out when I get the time. Have yet to try their pizzas but it sounds worth going for the pizzas alone!
  20. I think Kings is ok, I have good experiences with Audiology and I ended up in A and E on a drip over christmas, the waiting was not as bad as I thought it would be and they did look after me well but I guess it all depends on what day you catch them on, I am having baby there so might have a whole different story to tell in the future!
  21. I knew it was Hisar Mark! Wasn't sure but now you have confirmed! I don't know, I might say the same again next year if the writings are still there and I cannot remember which Turkish place it was! ( I go to lots, I have a place out in Turkey so like to think I know my Turkish food!)

The I-Beyti ( lamb wrapped in tortilla) was rather delicious but I wanted PIDE!!
  23. Jah Lush, when you walk pass Hisar, check the writings etched on their shop glass windows, the evidence is right there!
  24. Oh, They have a website now! http://www.dulwich-hisar.co.uk/
  25. Myself, two Turkish friends and another friend went to the 'Authentic' Hisar saturday gone, we were especially excited since etched on the glass of their window it says they do Pide and Lahmacun two very traditional Turkish dishes, our favourites! ( though I do recall before they did not have any when I went but could not say for definite if it was Hisar) but my friends were adamant they did do it since it is authentic and clearly advertised on their window! so off we went, and they said they do not do Pide or Lahmacun, nor will they ever do it! I mentioned but it's false advertising, the waiter just shrugged his shoulder, said they do not do it nor will they. Are they allowed to advertised food that are not on the menu and they have no intention of selling now or in the future? It went from bad to worse when three of my friends ordered Lemon cheesecake ( I chose banana ice cream) and their cheesecakes were rock hard ( Obviously served straight from the freezer) they attempted to eat it but naturally they could not get their spoon through the cheesecake and called a waiter over who stated all he can do is microwave it.....Well that was an experience! Microwave warm cheesecake! Not sure I will be going back again, I think I will stick to Meze Mangal in future!
