Shoplifters are always prosecuted these days, we have CCTV/Security cameras. Companies have insurance to cover stolen goods. If a shoplifter is caught, he is taken to the back, searched, and the police are called. NO ONE has the right to inflict violence on them, only in defence ( if the shoplifter was lashing out) but swearing and hitting over edible goods? OTT and not acceptable. What about old people who often walk out with goods they forget to pay for? or babies who don't know the concept of paying for goods? or menopausal ladies who forget to pay for things and dont realise until they get home? Even Winona Ryder the famous actress....should they all be handled with brute force since they have taken goods that does not belong to them? Somerfield do not need to issue a sign saying " Shoplifters welcomed here" because every person knows right from wrong, and they know the law, it is like saying we should leave signs everywhere saying " Thou shall not kill, cheat, lie or steal etc" law abiding people KNOW this, but you will ALWAYS have those intend on breaking the law and that is where the police force comes into it. Security guards and Bouncers who like the authority of their job, do NOT have that right to issue their own punishment.

Best restaurant in SE London?
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to Adam's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It is not in East Dulwich but I went to Meze Mangal in Lewisham last week and it was absolutely utterly divine! We all kept ooohhing and ahhhing over the food, they give you lots, and the price is so cheap! It was packed and intimate, the stuff was great and it was the absolute best tasting Turkish food I have ever tried. We all have stated that we will be going there for birthdays and special occasions now!! Otherwise I love Springers in East Dulwich, just opposite Dulwich Hospital, it is good old English/European fare, freshly cooked, nicely presented, and reasonable priced, very nice! -
Yes the one by the library/Bombay Bicycle Club does home delivery for orders over a certain amount.

Unless it was in El Bulli, in which case she > can PRO (Phuc Right Off) It is because you can get noodles, rice, burgers, meats, salads, curries etc in Dulwich but something like Sushi is not available and I have a mad craving for fresh fish and the likes, if a Sushi bar was not possible then a good seafood ( Lobster, Crab, Prawns, Fish restaurant would serve me well but not a fish and chip shop like sea cow). I like some good healthy food fare. A decent Turkish Restaurant would be great also as Hisar though cheap and cheerful is not fresh or authentic. -

I would love a Sushi bar, Yo Sushi or something even better, saves me travelling to Croydon or up west to get some sushi! -
Ok I am dumb , ignore me, just read the thread and realised that no one can see my photo on here, just me! Duh, I think I may go back to bed!

Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just to play the devil's advocate... if someone > found people of a certain race to be particularly > attractive, would that be considered racist? I wouldn't think so since my boyfriend loves dark girls, he has dated various girls from different cultures but he said he does find mixed girls like myself very appealing, and I am not complaining!:) -

I like how the higher powers that be decided that it is politically incorrect to be called mixed race! My skin, my mixture and I like the term 'Mixed Race'. I don't actually find it comfortable to say 'Dual Heritage' and all the mixed race people I know love being called 'Mixed Race', hell, there's even lots of face book groups entitled " Mixed and loving it!" and there are lots of members! -

I am mixed race and I like to be known as mixed race as I am not black, nor white. I have a mixture of Jamaican, Dutch, Greek and English, so despite having brown skin, it doesn't make me black. And I most certainly do not feel like I am denying any parts of my roots to black or white people, because it is not about them, it is about me, I have parents who are of different origins and that does not make me black or white,it makes me mixed...fact. -
at last The Plough has a website!!
Dulwich Born And Bred replied to rsn's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I love the Plough! My boyfriend who is quite fussy and only likes everything from his area in High Wycombe loves the Plough also, high praise indeed coming from him! We can always find a nice quiet area and I love the decor. The staff are extremely friendly. Not tried the food but no doubt we will at some point. I am glad they finally have a website. This pub is my little gem, along with Springers! -
Does anyone know how long the journey takes? I have been reading the reviews for agenda and it doesn't sounds great but then today is a special event that my friend is hosting so hopefully it will be ok or I will moan tomorrow and say to myself " That's why you have not been clubbing for years!". I will give Pangaea a go next week and let you know how it is, same name and all the reviews sounds great! I used to go Covent Garden but I cannot find any decent bars there so I gave up!, I hope you have a great time!
-
Thank you all! That is very helpful!! I shall be on alert for Sainsburys! I don't relish walking in my four inches heels but hey, no pain no gain! Yes I am off to Agenda! Have you been there before? My friend is spinning the decks there and has been asking me to come for ages but as it is so far I always declined! Was meant to go pangaea in Mayfair but that has been cancelled due to people being ill so we will go next week and I just don't fancy all the typical tourist clubs up west. I have not been to a club for years at 30 I feel extremely old, I am sure the crowd is getting younger and younger so I might just regret going!

Addison Lee? I'll google that! That is a good price! As just going to Lewisham sets me back ?10, but I do find most cab companies even the registered ones rip us off, usually on the phone they say one thing and then you have an argument with the driver who says something else. Mike, this is the 40 bus route: ulwich - Camberwell - Elephant & Castle - London Bridge - Aldgate Dulwich Library - Lordship Lane - Grove Vale - East Dulwich Station - Dog Kennel Hill - Grove Lane - Champion Park - Denmark Hill Station - Champion Park - Denmark Hill - Camberwell Green - Camberwell Road - Walworth - Walworth Road - Elephant & Castle Station - Newington Causeway - Borough High Street - Borough Station - Borough High Street - London Bridge Station - London Bridge - King William Street - Monument Station - Gracechurch Street - Fenchurch Street (for Station) - Aldgate - St. Botolph Street - Middlesex Street - Aldgate High Street - Minories - Aldgate Bus Station Where would Bishopgate be? so I know roughly! I like details and plans me!
-
Sorry it is Mincing Lane! Minster Court, 3 Mincing Lane, London, EC3R 7AA, so that means I can take the 40 there and get a cab back thus saving money?! Yay! Cinderella shall go to the ball! Thanks Mike, no idea where Bishopgate and all of that is but I am sure I can ask the driver to tell me when to get off. Thank you Peckham Rose also, I shall book a taxi on standby for coming back and hopefully in my drunken haze I won't get ripped off if we have agreed a price beforehand!
-
I used to keep saying 'Brought' Something instead of 'Bought' something, some cocky twat finally corrected me not too long ago!
-
I am coming! And If I don't like any of you lot I could always lose you between the pubs eh? And no photos, I don't do kodak moments. How many drinks will we be having per pub? or do we have a time limit in each pub? I like details see. I shall be bringing friends. You might dislike them as one lives in Camberwell, one in New Cross, and one in Brockley. Not everyone can be as posh as us East Dulwich lot but it is not their fault where they live. Heidi
