  1. Barnes. Good one Maxxi! BUT...I happen to like the footbridge at Clapham Junction station as it's the spacious above ground slightly more low key cousin of the claustrophobic, cess pit of a tunnel to the main entrance. Odd isn't it?
  2. Behave. These are people not places. I'm talking about the gnawing fear and loathing that grips me every time I have to change at East Croydon station. And want to know whether others suffer from this affliction and if so why.
  3. The point being these places are all innocuous. The Chinese concept of Feng Shui almost starts to explore it. An ill combination of things...but try as you might it's hard to avoid East Croydon...
  4. ...for no apparent reason: - East Croydon station - Ikea - Any brightly lit chain store with loud radio 1 music playing...Westfield...Oxford St. is it just me?
  5. Arse. Ah well. Time for a pint there I suppose... Do I win points for making the effort or lose some for twitter stupidity.?
  6. Quite possibly. Lots of the things I used to love about going to the football before the Premiership got screwed up by money. I'd thought a The Rabble thing was fairly recent but interesting to see the club has a long and rich history of die hard fans like yourself Jah and also lots of lovable eccentrics. And great to see so many kids..wives and families there. Confession: Just three days later I'm currently alone on a train south to rain sodden Lewes FC. Time to start paying my dues.
  7. And now to end this thread, professional middle class wind-up merchant Louisa and the eccentric gloom monger Dulwich Fox will now perform their own version of The Pogues classic Fairytale of New York....
  8. I was going to say...when it comes to Berlin and the forum....you won't get much better than Mikey P's tips.
  9. If shame is involved my bet is Chiquitos on the south bank. Or the voodoo lounge on Leicester Square. Somewhere with a really random touristy crowd?
  10. Really enjoyed it. nice atmosphere. Those guys going mental at the end are two screws short of a tool Bix but brilliant all the same.
  11. Why change a good thing?
  12. Mick. You can stick it! If nobody bought art then basically life would end and you couldn't do your annual Open House walk (and not buy anything).
  13. You can never win. Fame is a sordid curse.
  14. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find/buy local art from Peckham Dulwich New Cross surrounds ...either online or galleries? Thx.

Unless you're in > essential public services or performing some kind > of job that requires you to be "on call" (ala > Dulwich Raider).....everyone should get 23rd > December to Monday 5th Jan off. I've discovered an exception. If the in laws are staying with you and twiddling thumbs around the house. I'm heading into the office on New Years Day as a result.
  16. If cocktails are the main event then it makes sense to pay a bit extra for something decent? A good cocktail in East Dulwich is now easily ?8 to ?10 so you'll pay more up west with the classic hotel bars (Savoy, Ritz etc) easily doing ?15 mark upwards. But you'll get some snacks and white gloved service for that and on the plus side you'll only want two at the strength they mix them. If it's in the ?10 to ?15 mid range price per drink my picks for Central would be: - The Langham Hotel just north of Oxford Circus - Skylon in the Royal Festival Hall which has lounge tables close to the bar just for drinkers. And a view of the river. - Brasserie Zedel has the bar Americain and is also fun https://www.brasseriezedel.com darn it..it will be ages before I get back to any of these places again....have fun...
  17. Seems I met one of the above at our street's xmas drinks but had no idea. Do people over the Heat mag demographic age of 25 seriously still get impressed/excited by someone off the telly? Because the reality of that existence is quite different... Despite having a face for radio, I know what I'd rather be doing...
  18. My labrador Brora once ate a Little Professor kids calculator when I was ten years old after crunching it down into tiny pieces. Somehow he seemed to get most of it out and lived happily for another 8 years. He also once grabbed a whole turkey moments before serving on Xmas day and walked back to his bed with it, tail slightly wagging. As everyone was seated in the dining room my mum gave it a quick wash and nobody was any the wiser.
  19. A few points on this one: - The flats aren't even close to in keeping with the rest of the street. - The "mews" house is stuck on the side to get a few extra quid. And is massively overlooked by the six flats. - Having dealt with this guy before, he massively pushes the envelope with planning and the end finish is not as the hoardings would have it. - Nobody who buys these will be parking am Aston Martin Vanquish outside....except perhaps the guy who owns MYN Properties. - It's on a main road. And will be overpriced.
  20. Those people gliding serene around Dukwich park today. They are clearly not doing the cooking! That said big thanks to Seabag for his festive cooking tips which made our lunch today.

  22. Retro christmas.... - a bowl of walnuts + nut cracker - Medjool dates - Coloured Christmas tree lights - Christmas edition of the Radio Times
  23. Respect to people like quidsy and Holloway. They are the engine of the economy and keeping essential public services going over Christmas. Whilst the rest of you sit at your desk playing tetris.
  24. Jeremy. Are you King Henry VIII in disguise?

    Butcher news

Another vote for Plough No Name. His rib of beef is considerably cheaper than WR and just as good if not better. Very good chickens too.
