  1. Where did the driver stop on Lordship Lane? Two stops past Toasted?
  2. James - out of interest, do you know what the final cost comes in at?
  3. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to see it open - that's kind of my point (it's a shame it didn't complete 12 months ago). Personally I think it's ugly and some more thought should have been put into the form. Never the less, it will be good when it's finally finished and the station is 'fully functional'.
  4. Eh? It's a really crucial station, so it's important that works are allowed to overrun by more than a year?
  5. You could try tweeting her @Jo__Brand
  6. It was originally due for completion in July 2012 I believe. In total they've been working on it for over 2 years. I understand that it was originally a ?4.18 million project at Denmark Hill, but in light of the significant overun, this figure will almost certainly have gone up. I suspect we won't know the final cost until it's finished, but certainly it'll be in the millions. I appreciate the need for step free access, but that is quite seperate to the nature of the design, which in my opinion (it is clearly a matter of personal taste), is poor.
  7. I can't believe: (a) how long it's taken (b) how much it's cost © how ugly the whole thing (especially the footbridge / towers) are (d) how no one's head has rolled as a result of a, b and c
  8. Just realised that it has the name CEPT in the top left: http://globalstreetart.com/artists/cept-uk
  9. Welcome to ED. Dont know who the artist is I'm afraid.
  10. Restaurants cannot be expected to cater for everyone, all of the time. As I understand it, the new restaurant had an extremely limited menu on offer the other night as it was a ?dry run?, before they open properly. Their full menu will likely include some vegetarian options - but frankly whether it does or not is up to them. As a potential customer, you consider the type of food on offer and decide whether it?s somewhere you want to eat or not. Should the Blue Brick Cafe cater for meat eaters, or is it up to them what they choose to offer people?
  11. Sounds to me like the work of a tornado.

  13. I think the ice cream in Oddono's is amazing. Shame about the decor (looks like a fast food place).
  14. The closure of the stairs from platform 13 is a real pain. Going to make catching connecting train that little bit more difficult.
  15. There is no such thing as 'road tax' so the simple answer is no. Should they pay vehicle excise duty? Well as they are in the zero emissions category, they would be zero rated - so pay exactly nought. Not sure therefore what your point is.
  16. Please can we deconstruct the meaning of balls (as a linguistic construct).
  17. I believe that the Charing Cross trains are not stopping at London Bridge for the next year or two as they work on the new platforms (I guess, in order to allow those services which terminate at LB to continue running by utilising platforms usually taken up by the through trains). I believe that after that period they will be reinstated however and that there may be increased capacity. Any forumites able to shed more light? How are changes to the train timetable decided? How do commuters feed in to / influence the decision making process to shape the development of our local services?
  18. I really don't know whether it's too late or not. AbDabs - do you have specific experience in this area?
  19. I really liked the exhibition, but having seen inside the house I'm surprised it's being knocked down for redevelopment. Seemed like a nice big Victorian property, in pretty good condition.
  20. Have started a seperate thread to see what people think / may already be going on.
  21. The current development work at London Bridge station will allow for more trains to run through to Charing Cross. As far as I can tell (I could be wrong on this), the exact shape of the subsequent timetable changes are yet to be decided. I am wondering therefore, whether we may have an opportunity to campaign for an extension to ED train service - through to Waterloo and Charing Cross. Does anyone know if anything is already underway in this respect? Are Southwark Council using their influence?
  22. With the new platforms, there may be an opportunity to campaign for an extension to ED trains (through to Waterloo and Charing Cross). Does anyone know if anything is already underway? Are Southwark Council using their influence? Seems to me that it is a lot more likely / feasible than a Bakerloo line extension.
  23. looking at the map that James Barber linked to (thanks James, interesting site) - It seems that the biggest problem area on Lordship Lane is the junction with Heber Road. I wonder why the proposal is to start the limit at Whateley (as DJKQ says, by that point traffic is barely moving anyway)?
  24. "half the households in the borough live in a property owned by the council"..wow, that's incredible.
  25. Anyone know why it's been sold? Was it not doing well?
