How can a bike shed be classed as a permanent structure? Surely if you moved house you could just dismantle it and take it with you. I would be surprised if anyone with one had planning permission. What about the people who have built wooden bin caddies? Surely these are more permanent in that they are anchored to the ground or wall? Hi Beej, you sound like a nice piece of work. As others have pointed out it's a boulangerie and a bloody good one. Amazing croissants and sour dough, gutted its closing but fingers crossed for new incarnation.

@JamesBarber Hi James, I'm on Hindmans Rd so I believe that falls into Peckham Rye ward. @Dulwich londoner - The alarms I have just fitted are not disc or padlock alarms, but yes I can see how they would be easy to muffle. They are hardwired into the battery and are fixed inside the bike. In order to stop them you would have to bust into the bike or under the saddle. Not really sure how you could muffle it therefore. Like I say, 20 odd quid, 5 minutes to fix, comes with 2 remote key fobs to activate and deactivate, amazing reviews on Amazon. Why wouldn't you do it? In a similar way to house burglaries, every deterrent you can add helps. If anyone on here wants to fit one but doesn't feel confident doing it, PM me and I will do it for you for free. (instantly regrets saying that).

We had an anchor fitted by Southwark and we're not in East Dulwich ward.....definitely worth looking into. I would also disagree with DulwichLondoner who says that alarms are useless. They can be the first line of defence and enough to deter would be thieves. I think there are generally 2 types of bike thief: kids who are going after automatic scooters and then the pros who target the superbikes. I would say in the case of the kids they aren't going to be carrying enough kit to muffle an alarm. Also if we're talking about the anchors then we're working on the assumption that a lot of people are keeping their bikes in their front gardens, therefore you would hear it. I'm up for a bit of romance as much as the next person, but my advice would be to ignore Valentines day as it's nothing more than a marketing scam designed to make you part with your hard earned cash, and then to make you feel guilty if you don't participate or unloved if your expectations aren't met. Miserable. There are tons of great restaurants around here so if you want to make an occasion of it wait until the weekend and go then. On the day itself you could make a lovely meal together.

Yes same with us. Completely down, we're on Hindmans road. We were on hold for over 30 minutes to 3 different people and were given inconsistent information each time. Insultingly low compensation of ?2 offered. We've just come out of contract so will be looking at other options.

I totally agree with Treehugger. There is also no reason why this has to be a permanent bus lane. Most bus lanes in London operate in peak hours, with the exception of some around really busy junctions.
