  1. I went to see the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (for some reason generally banned in the UK at the time, ie given no certificate), rather than see the Pretenders Supported by UB40, both at their peak. Ignore the score in IMDB, it was sheet.

    VISA Outage

No, I must have slept through it.
  3. AS a kid I lived near Tolkein before he left this mortal coil. One of his near neighbours would get the geeky kids signed copies of his books. Watching Antiques Roadshow rather surprised as how valuable these can be. Other anecdotes? Please no no no no no ones about if only I had bought this property at that time.
  4. Michael Mcintyre parking on double yellows outside his kid's school. Didn't deserve an attack by the moped gang but still a pretty wonker thing to do. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/michael-mcintyre-robbed-by-moped-thieves-in-london-while-waiting-to-pick-children-up-from-school-a3855266.html
  5. Thick milk shakes? Probably a wonder natural product 'guar gum'. But still feels as if processed
  6. Good to see that someone is using air B&B as it was designed. It quickly got over run by by the let, and even rent to rent. We've been fine using it. You hear the scare stories but you always get them. Depends on (a) safeguards that are in place (b) how risk averse you are.
  7. Welcome to my world but this does smack a little of vigilantism (OK you are not damaging them as they did near Manchester airport). Perhaps put a polite note on this, or alternatively a passive aggressive one (think the former is better).
  8. Nope, end of an era and for me it's reason d'etre
  9. Immersed and wrapped around, is that legal? Are you offering? Thanks for the suggestions to go beyond HD ready.
  10. I fell out with Roxy in the 7 stars which at the same time was expanding and losing some of its charm. At one time I felt a proper regular Sure it is still good.
  11. Obviously a deviant. Does he or she look like this (Uncle Quentin) https://www.drg.tv/Brand/10106/comic-strip-five-go-mad-on-mescalin Is this thread for real? If you are a real person what are your views on small flat screen TVs vs flat screen>
  12. Does it really matter on a 24 inch? Just about to buy an LED smart telly as my flat screen is giving up after ten years. Funnily enough it will be cheaper than our first family colour telly in 1975. Views flat vs curved?
  13. I feel dirty, I opened the link. I am now tainted. Not that it wasn't heroic. I could have done without the side bars of scantily dressed young ladies/women/females/XYs
  14. A good ten years ago three of my faves were shortlisted for the Time Out best pub award. The Seven Stars close to the Royal Court of Justice, the Royal Oak at Borough and the Greenwich Union. The first is very much changed and I've long since fallen out of love with the Meantime Brewery. Royal Oak is still ace. Things don't stand still.
  15. Blythe Hill Tavern won SE London Pub of the year, again. The Ivy has also won in the past. http://sel.camra.org.uk/ Despite some issues with 'craft ale' I occasionally drink in the Canopy at HH. Refurbed aint my cup of tea. The Alleyn's Head, another M&B place like the Dog, seems to do it better.

Dig in tonnes of sharp sand or just replace 1/2 metre with decent top soil. And you will need drainage put in. Massive job!
  17. It?s an inconvenient truth folks. Human activity is responsible for most air pollution. Our right to drive what we like, when we like, how we like and where we like, and no politicians being serious enough to challenge this, is much of the problem. We can witter on but need a fundamental change in society. But great to do our bit. Happy to debate around a pint sometime. Diesel vs petrol is just a side show. Less (miles) is more.
  18. And a hatrick. Name the ground (any one over 50 will name the ground, competition and year in seconds https://www.google.com/search?q=lev+yashin+russia&safe=strict&client=firefox-b&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj11vycuJfbAhVGWsAKHQvKDpYQ_AUICygC&biw=1344&bih=728#imgrc=plTj56z5kJ141M:

  20. Confused - surely this is the Soviet kit, or something similar. https://www.toffs.com/soviet-union-cccp-12th-man-t-shirt-red-white-ringer?gclid=Cj0KCQjw3InYBRCLARIsAG6bfMQBp3NeruUBl3mdWuWcEgqB6eOp_6q9dchMomDFKHPZNE8vtgZrL-4aAhBuEALw_wcB
  21. More annoyed that Five Live started their FA Cup coverage so early booting out Danny Baker. Now if it was a three o'clock kick off that would have been fine. I expect I'll now find out he was shifted to 5 extra. I'd get rid of the monarchy, and happily become a secular republic. But not really bothered about last weekend and with my minimal attention (about two snippets on the radio and seeing headlines in the Metro) I understand that it was a nice event. If I was bothered it would be the A list celebs, in the same way they appear at all major national events. Yes posh and becks I am talking about you.
  22. Spoil sport. I was hoping for some surreal debate. I was telling a colleague about Terry Scott and dressing as a school boy (all quite odd nowadays) and found a reference to this series. I understand the tapes were all burned. It also had the great Hugh Lloyd . He was acting well into his 80s and now that Sykes and Maynard have passed on that is probably the last of this generation of comedians. Anyway - let's have some surreal comments about gnomes and Dulwich.
