Here's the link to the BBC4 doc on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxTOMcPax6k Met Fergal a couple of times. Me to Fergal "great to meet you, I remember listening to you in my student room on John Peel" Fergal response "you sad so and so, I was out playing in a band, and getting laid". Bless. Damian lives up the road and performs in his band the Everlasting Yeah, including a gig a couple of years ago at the Ivy http://www.theeverlastingyeah.com/
  4. I've got a least a couple more This was a B side because the Beeb wouldn't play it. Not his greatest moment but this bloke was proabably the biggest influence on the next generation of comedians. Enjoy
  5. I am happy to put my leaflet in the bin and I didn't see any point in having a referendum in the first place. I am surprised that Dave felt that we needed the leaflet. The Brexit camp including Lousisa and the NUFC person all come across as rabid. The Panama papers are just a silly distraction and aren't anything to do with the argument. I watched a bit of the repeat of questiontime last night http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b076zn7t and there was a brilliant view from Chris Bryant MP where through gritted teeth he supported the PM, saying that the Brexit campaign focused on process rather than substance and got a cheer from the audience. Thank ffign God for a bit or reality at last without political posturing. Embrace the bigger picture. Don't resort to cheap under the belt and totally inaccurate comments about other Europeans. And please make an effort to speak their lingo when abroad. I am so embarassed by too many of my fellow countrypeople (as one who is not a great linguist, but tries). In it and proud.
  6. More importantly what happened to the decent pubs? You've even managed to ruin the ones on your borders. Surely there must be a backlash. I was in the Blythe tonight, what a great mix. People in to watch the footy, the trad Irish band, a young womens Gaelic football team, younger people in mixed and single gender groups having a great time. And not a hipster in sight, and no rows and rows of trendy ciders or 'craft ales' at the bar. The last place I drank in was the Crystal Palace Tavern. RIP. Well you've got what you wanted.
  7. Why is this thread so quiet? It's the second best one after the Rock Anthems one. Yet look at some of the other ones where you lot are talking utter bollox and see the large number of postings. Right I am going to be contary and put forward an A side where the B one was the hit. Morning of our Lives by Jonathan Richman. B side was alright - Road Runner, and more poppy. But A side ruled. So good here are two versions and www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbUYJfbZ-Qc&nohtml5=False Forget the Damned, the Pistols, the New York Dolls, Television, Richard Void, MC5s etc this bloke is the architect behind punk.
  8. Trouble is as much as I want to capitlise on this, the story is coming with one hell of a slant/agenda.
  9. A lovely building There is a liklihood that the similarly lovely Forest Hill Library will be run by volunteers. Lewisham apparently aint so good on running libraries ie serving the community rather than small sectors of the community, whereas Southwark are. Of course we are talking Lambeth on this occasion. For balance Lewisham score much better on public health services that some other LAs
  10. Ballads vs anthems - now there is an intersting question! Here's a weird one
  11. I didn't get them in the second ballot either, and was already peed off by the geographical spread, the inclusion of so many teams, and some of the second round draws which pit 3rd against first in the group stages which will probably be pointless. I'll stick with my memories of World Cups in Germany (Dortmund( and in Brazil (Manaus) and our much better value tickets to the ladies finals at Wimbledon. I assume that you were successful as you went for the top price tickets
  12. Really, Fleetwood Mac did the original? Wow. Rock and Roll Part II (B side to Rock and Roll Part I) by Gary Glitter. Funnily enough I can't find and clips of this, and actually preferred the A side at the time.
  13. Two approaches to increasing cycling - segregated, including cycle superhighways, and quiet routes. Only trouble is, with particularly the latter, Boris needs to make it more convenient/attractive to switch from the car, rather than add to congestion. Particularly counterproductive when this affects bus journeys, which shoud be seen to be complimentary to cycling and walking. The traffic quagmire that is E&C is testiment to this. Taking on the car driving lobby seems to be more important to me.
  14. mixed views on many of the above Anything tht is is rocky and fast with some riffy stuff doesn't count in my opinion eg Jump. We are the Champions seems spot on. Good point on the Gallaghers! Crystal Ship?
  15. 22 years ago I was at the Oval when over 700 runs were scored in the Natwest Semi Final Surrey required 20 off the last four balls. Watch what happened from 12 mins 30 seconds onwards. [www.youtube.com]
  16. Ha ha wrong thread!

  18. Having just listened to a very good Tom Robinson programme on 6 Music on listeners favourite anthems, I considered them all to be nice sing alongs, from an indie/alternative stable. Many of which I could dad dance to, but not hold my arms in the air with 20,000 others at a fesstival. Apart from Look Back in Anger which finished the programme that does meet my definition. I usually think of this genre very much as long soft rock songs, which develop, and have a climax. Not really my cuppa but Journey "Don't Stop Believing" being one example, and I expect lighters to be held up in the air as the audience goes into a trance. I looked at the track list for the "Best Rock Anthems ever" - most of this seeemed to be laddish toe stopmping stuff with a bit of Jeremy Clarkson thrown in. Just out of interest what do you reckon a rock anthem is, and better still your fave? This is a light hearted posting, and I am not inviting either serious discussion, or p taking. I hope that this is allowed.
  19. All opening windows are sash windows. The sash is the opening pane. Box sash windows is what you are tlaking about. I blame this ignorance on the government, on the EU, immigrants, education, etc etc

Most outward facing HMG websites and applications very good. The internal ones are shite, but that probably doesn't bother you and to do with the mantra that everything needs to be outsourced and changed every other year, at the cheapest price. Anyway I digress. Good that there are more positive. And the sun is shining,

Lowlander Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > 1. get the train from Peckham Rye to St Mary Cray, > around 25 minutes every 20 minutes > > 2. get rid of the diesel, unless you're doing +10k > miles a year Hmmm, well sensible advice but not what was being asked. Here is more informed advice. - recommendation of a good mobile mechanic - done (see further rec below) - crap in the system, but a relatively new car so I am surprised - Air pollution light. If you Google you will find that this confuses everyone. Peugeot have dubious electronics and diagnostics (the only thing that I agree with Clarkson on). This could apply to the need to replace or regenerate your particulate filer so I suppose that this could be related to crud in the tank increasing soot. Always good to get a good recommendation of a mechanic. Here's mine A W Electrics 25 Scrooby St, London SE6 4JB 020 8690 7584
  23. Why have none of you picked up on the point of my thread. Is East Dulwich unbelievably stupid? So - good place to move to because of improved connectivity and relatively cheaper prices. Yes I get that Opportunities to make smaller places into family houses, so cheaper to trade up (and avoid estate agent fees, stamp duty, the hassle of moving). Yes I get that. But the size of some of the projects? OK perhaps you are expecting to have a massive family, have your parents move in etc. Some of this must surely be for investment purposes. I'd rather people post and say "yes, I don't care about affordable housing, I want to make a good return, you are just envious Malumbu". I may not like it but at least it is honest. Not some of the piffle above. Not good debate. Come back when you have thought properly about it with an objective view.
  24. Are you lot on a parallel universe? If you want to digress into cafes and breakfasts then start a new thread and let this one run its course.
  25. There is an irony that there is a glut of extensions whilst not enough housing, in particular affordable housing. And people view this area as a place to invest. In my single party state we'd all have a maximum space allocation in our people's utopian palacre
