  1. I was knocked down on Red Post Hill in the 90s cycling home. Driver, speeding, tried to get through a gap that wasn't there. Left me for dead knocking me into a parked car. Owner of the parked car said no worries, it's an old car, and drive me home. Bike was written off, I was almost written off. As said numerous times the only times I have nearly cycled into a pedestrian is when they walked into the road without looking. The one that didn't even acknowledge that I had to brake swiftly I told I would run over next time, but other than that I've been stoic. Cycling in an urban area I'm rarely above 20. That'll km/h.
  2. How can anyone in London not know with your campaign? Surely you must have gone viral.
  3. 98 percent of pedestrians injured on pavements and on verges are following motor vehicles mounting the pavement/verge. Campaign for the maximum speed for every road user to be reduced to 5 mph, and/or with someone walking in front with a red flag. Good luck. https://www.cyclinguk.org/briefing/cycling-and-pedestrians
  4. Thank you! Our beautiful cottage is still available for much of the spring and summer. Ferry prices still reasonable.
  5. Saw him in the West End theatre many years ago. He was just starting a revival in recent times. Sad news.
  6. Who changed the title? Faeces is just a term nobody uses unless they are in the medical profession, and even then they probably say ,'stools' For common parlance muck, dirt or poo is fine, you don't have to resort to the s or c words.
  7. I see both the nurse practitioner and have phone consultations with the GP, usually the same one. It's OK, it no doubt could be better. Maybe you are in a secret list, the TTFOs as they used to do before patient access to their notes.
  8. Well that's the way it is. Move on.
  9. It's irrelevant. They are not achievable. Costs would be enormous and disproportionate. They would be rarely enforced. It's a joke. I am not a lobby and I am certainly not desperate.
  10. It's bad taste to use someone's death in your argument. We can talk about killed and seriously injured in terms of the data. And the data is two people being killed due to cycling that went to court in the last decade. Step back and consider my views in the first sentence.
  11. The point is I don't name people who are killed. That crossed lines. Still no admission that this was taking a debate on social media, ie for the world to see, too far.
  12. All of us who received the COVID vaccination have a microchip so very easy to track us.
  13. @Rockets what courses did you run? As someone who appears to have championed cycling what turned you against the fraternity? It may explain why you are so active on this issue. I've said numerous times that training, and education, is important. Government is nowhere near meeting earlier Johnson commitment that every child will have the opportunity to receive training - https://www.gov.uk/government/news/every-child-in-england-to-be-offered-cycle-training Neither the Tories or Labour had anything specific in their manisfestos I'll keep asking the above questions until I get an answer!
  14. It's so sad that you have to resort to a personal tragedy to support your views. I only refer to those killed and seriously injured in terms of numbers. I am not going to trawl the internet looking for individuals names who died after being hit by a motor vehicle. Step back and see what you have become in your 'mission'
  15. There were at least three on doubles with the home made sign. Double yellows mean no parking
  16. You have just accused someone of murder. I expect that you have transgressed the rules of this forum. This was a matter for the courts not your opinion. I'm not aware of anyone being hurt in Dulwich Park, or on Dulwich pavements following a collision with a cyclist.
  17. Remind me of this one person that was hurt by a cyclist in East Dulwich. Many more people are killed each year following collisions with deer. https://www.rspca.org.uk/documents/1494939/7712578/Road+traffic+accidents+and+deer+-+2022+update.pdf Don't see people up in arms asking for extermination of these and other wildlife. A minority of people angry with cyclists doesn't make a persuasive case for legislating against riders.
  18. Do people have a problem with RPZs. I doubt if this affects any of us. Glad Townley was mentioned. Several entitled selfish motorists on double yellows today, with homemade signs placed on the windscreens
  19. You probably didn't bother to read to the end where the article refers to a group supporting measures like LTNs, and a DfT announcement saying that local decisions for local authorities. So a lot of noise but no change, worse is that these groups opposing LTNs NEVER have sensible alternatives
  20. 20 mph is not self enforcing. Where on earth have we got this idea. The average speed where traffic is free flowing 20mph roads is barely different to when they were 30 mph (DfT metastudy a few years ago https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/5c86500f40f0b63699927982/technical-appendix-4-20mph-rapid-evidence-review.pdf). I challenged people to (a) come up with data that passengers were being physically harmed by cyclists on pavements in East Dulwich. Nobody has (b) I challenged you to come up with a good case for licensing bicycles - you haven't This surely is an indication that we all agree that licensing of cycles is a daft idea.
  21. I can't believe you'd actually ask someone and that they'd respond as well. I find it better to speculate, make numbers up, and then base my argument on this. Finding it strange that so many people get done - chancing it or what?
  22. A mate of mine left his car in Cambridge and had it impounded. He was quite proud that the local rag featured it as running up a ginormous fine. That was in the 1990s, perhaps it is still there
  23. Surely you can't be defending DCs school travel plans. That would be incredibly blinkered thinking.
  24. I'm not going to Tripadvisor for a review of JL. Happy to look at this for hotels, and even then with a pinch of salt.
  25. It's good to see a lot of Dulwich College kids cycling home, but yes, DC aren't taking cutting down parents driving their kids to school, and with the free drop off parking active encourage it. Shame on them.
