  1. Economycarrentals
  2. It's telling that you were there Dulvilleres and that others weren't
  3. Nigel will sort it. The mess that he and others made.
  4. Speak to the police Safer Neighbourhood Team. They will get involved in quite a lot of 'domestic disputes' and may be able to get other agencies involved too.
  5. Rather puerile comment. And I'm not sure what the comment about Starmer and critical care was about. If you are in a life threatening situation it's 999 whoever you are https://www.mytribeinsurance.co.uk/knowledge/is-there-a-private-a-e-in-the-uk
  6. So either house owners are fly tipping, or businesses are fly tipping. No excuse for either. I pay for my bulky waste to be disposed of by a licensed company.
  7. Is it open yet? I can always cycle through the park although at times the path is like crazy paving
  8. No excuse for fly tipping. If it costs more then charge your customer more. I use a licensed man and his van for big gardening and building DIY projects.
  9. It was fine at 8.20 when I cycled down it.
  10. Went to some great free events in Clapham Common and in Finsbury Park. Free fireworks at Vicky Park good too. Cost of events and cuts to budgets saw an end to most of this. Blackheath fireworks too popular. Parks and recreation eh? 😊
  11. It's grass. It will regrow. It's not native fauna, wild meadows etc. Just like many of our gardens, it's ornamental and for recreation. You could argue that most of our park land is ornamental rather than a nature reserve. Would time not be better spent getting involved with a wildlife trust or similar charity?
  12. You should have bought it and then sold at a huge profit!
  13. But we have taken a side. Our government is effectively supporting Israel. Recognising a Palestinian state would be a sign of a more balanced position.
  14. Oooh something I thought I'd like from the Tories, getting rid of Mickey Mouse degrees - hopefully starting with PPE Cameron, Truss, Suank, Hunt, Hilton, Hague and the like But looking at the wiki list, there are many Labour and other MPs and some I actually have some respect for. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_University_of_Oxford_people_with_PPE_degrees Have a look at the list, it may surprise you
  15. Glastonbury is on the Somerset levels, drained land with a very high water table and when it rains...... I'm not sure of any other major festival that has this situation. I really enjoyed 85, but not 97 when it was not just wet but cold. Two or three later years even worse rain, and with larger crowds even more of a quagmire. Most Glastonburys are hot and sunny.
  16. Whoops silly me. I'd delete my post but now it is preserved for all eternity! Well it will give me an opportunity to visit. It's owned by the cheese block people
  17. Phone them up and report back. Old fashioned but hopefully will do the trick
  18. Anything nutty today? - I'm expecting bringing back hanging, and corporal punishment.
  19. The last manifesto included an extension of Bikeability training to every child Government's 2020 'Gear Change' commitment was for 80% of children to receive this training The latest analysis is they fell well short at 50% https://www.bikeability.org.uk/blog/government-must-boost-cycle-training/ It's a good scheme but you will not make it compulsory as you cannot control who rides a bike, unlike driving where you are taking a big risk driving an unregistered car, without a driving license, and sooner or later would get caught on ANPR etc. Many adult cyclists, similar to drivers, would consider that they don't need training, particularly older people and men. As with driving EVERYONE benefits from training/refresher training. I doubt if cycle training will feature in manifestos, there may be a pnony war around net zero,
  20. Hope you enjoyed this festival of cycling. If so, do post on the "joy of cycling" thread.
  21. It would be interesting to know how many of you have been to a festival. I'm well past 50 over the years free ones, short ones and big ones. I'm not interested in the Gala and most of them at Brockwell Park, but enjoy and have worked at the Lambeth Country show. I seemed to have been asleep in the late 80s so can't comment on raves, but at this time Glastonbury turned nasty due to criminality so have experienced the less savoury elements. I am not questioning the issues you have, rather the general feeling that some come across as being against people enjoying themselves.
  22. Welcome to SE London, subsidence very common in Edwardian and older properties, due to the reasons you have said, coupled with some streets that were bombed in WW2. I expect with Climate change, it will worsen. Structural engineer as suggested and perhaps calculate how much it could cost if worst comes to the worst. And how easy to insure. All pre war houses are likely to be a bit wonky, that's normal.
  23. With large public events like these there is always a problem that they will descend into chaos, lawlessness etc. What we need is a national citizens force both to patrol public events and teach young people how to behave as good citizens. I'll have a word with the PM. Get some in!
  24. You must be talking about the jerk cookout. It was great, really good humoured and being there I didn't witness anyone urinating in public. It was a victim of its own success in that the grounds were damaged by weight of numbers and food debris hence no repeat of the free event. It is now ticketed. I'm not reflecting on discussions on this thread, but there were casual racist remarks made by some of the mainly white residents in the area following the first event
  25. Nope I can hear the background music from my garden. Even more so at Hornimam which is now having more and more one dayers.
