  1. How exciting, were there any teddy bears having picnics, or other interesting things going on? Too fat east for wombles. Horniman ring a bell which lets the bats and owls have a bit of notice.
  2. Congestion is due to people driving. If there is less driving then there is less pollution. If more drivers took their responsibilities seriously the world would be a better place. Is this journey necessary? Can I use alternative means? Could I lift share??? I'm looking forward to the improvements at Court Lane junction. I recall the traffic jams there when I used it as my bike commuting route in the 90s
  3. The video states the obvious and preaches to the converted, we've had a pro car culture for the best part of a century. Yet so many are in denial, as comes across from some discussions on the forum. At least try to watch it with an open mind and give some credibility to the experts in academia.
  4. Looks to be fake/AI, or perhaps made into a loop as repetitive
  5. Not helpful to use the T word as you may lose the moral high ground. Yes, some of the posts are provocative, and perhaps overstep a line. But they are genuine views I have the T word used against me from time to time, so maybe more sensitive than others.
  6. Oh, hadn't realised. Odd. But then that is American exceptionalism.
  7. Posting in the abstract rather than specifically on this traumatic case. Motorists (and all road users) should be easing up as they approach zebra crossings, scanning the road ahead, ready to brake should a pedestrian walk across suddenly without warning. We all know those that don't and some that are happy to speed. And if not probably have encountered this when on the pavement ready to cross. There appears from some a particular interest in cyclists rather than drivers. Sadly improving driving standards is not in manifestos. Sunak was preoccupied with middle lane drivers, not relevant to more hazardous urban roads. Governments before him were committed to cyclist training.
  8. No, it is to complain about cyclists such as me who are helping to save the planet and smugly tell everyone this. But to be more serious it's a mix between a genuine issue of persuading those who have not reason to cycle on the pavement, not to. Which I do from time to time. (Ask people to cycle on our cycle friendly roads). And those who blame cyclists for the introduction of measures to reduce car use.
  9. Go to the meeting, state all these things that you are unhappy with, ask them how they will respond and how they will personally engage with you. Alternatively you can complain on social media 😉
  10. Shame I didn't see the invite earlier, it would have been nice to have a pub debate about international politics and the Emperor's new clothes aka hazy ales. Next time 👍
  11. Got a bit more interesting
  12. Well why not have your day rather than dismiss the exercise? Then report back.
  13. Good. I'm pleased.
  14. Go to gumtree and it may be on there. Tell us the make and maybe a photo as a vague description doesn't help
  15. Ah bless. We are so lucky to have so many journalists in the area. You want a nice story, and you will have one and a photo shoot on your doorstep. Perhaps the Guardian should sponsor Dulwich Hamlet! I'm being mean. I was glad when they saved the pub and I am a frequent visitor and share holder. The publicity is great and wonderful that it serves such wide groups in our community. The Guardian often put a (Peckham) wry smile on my face
  16. Clearly you don't believe in scientific research. Better give Sweden a call and speak to those people at the academy that award the Nobel prize. As a scientist I'm not sure if I am insulted flabbergasted or both. Well I understand that GB news is a good watch.
  17. Was planning to put something up on Biden, his diminishing chances of re-election and my worries and frustration over this. I am sure we don't get the full story but his gaffes continue. Yesterday's assignation attempt on Trump makes it even more likely that he will return to the White House, three people on the Kuennsberg programme yesterday including the presenter herself referred to him as 'President Trump', rather than Mr or 'former President' Trump, At least Biden only called him Vice President! There is a certain irony as Trump and the republicans do not want tighter gun controls and are responsible for much of the toxicity we see in politics nowadays. The former Tory advisor got it spot on when the availability of firearms in the US a bonkers situation. And talking on toxicity why on earth did the Beeb go straight to Farage on Kuennsberg, when all he will do is tout his usual lines that it is all the fault of the woke liberal media, and a special name check for one of our locals, Jo Brand. Warning, lots of woke BBC references in the attached: https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2019/jun/13/police-investigate-jo-brands-battery-acid-remark On Googling there are plenty of links to GB news and Farage's FB, but can't bring myself to post these let alone read them. How woke is that?
  18. Sounds like the Critical Massive party, shame I missed it. Us cyclists know how to have a good time ☺️
  19. What?
  20. They are businesses looking to increase their revenue. But in fairness whilst my practice has a TV in the waiting room that advertises cosmetic dentistry, my dentist has never suggested to me that I need it, Fortunately we don't live in America
  21. Thanks for sharing, it's not particularly sophisticated and hopefully most will see through it, It's multitasking criminals who just look for opportunities. Why blame the council for criminals? Best advice is to follow the rules and regulations. Bigger criminals are the private parking companies who use disproportionate means - governments were attempting to tackle unfair practices.
  22. Wells sold off the brewery to what is now Carlberg. 'Youngs' is still brewed there, I had assumed that the brewery had closed and moved to where they brew Courage, Brakespears and other brews from long closed breweries. But irrespective of this only Youngs in name. All this goes back to unintended consequences of the break up of big national brewery power in the late 80s. All major brewing interests in the UK no longer British
  23. The title of the thread is sensationalist and comes across that you have a Daily Mail type agenda. Which from subsequent posts you don't Heaven knows the solution but a political point is that austerity under Osbourne, subsequent regimes and widening inequality have worsened things Not an excuse for braking the law of course
