  1. Wow! That was worth waiting for.
  2. Which street?
  3. Several crab spiders in the lilies.Odd looking things
  4. There's lots of local history books, the most detailed, probably, being Victorian Suburb, by Dyos. There's the John Beasley ones which cover nearly everything (except knocking shops - there was one opposite me and I didn't realise. Just thought they had a lot of visitors at odd hours) It's a pity there isn't a local history society, perhaps the population here is too transient.
  5. What is essential, anyway? An awful of of people think meat and fish aren't essential, yet no-one has suggested the butchers and fish shop close.
  6. The new tree wouldn't just be for my immediate pleasure, though, would it?
  7. I'd have preferred a new tree
  8. Not my cup of tea, to put it politely.
  9. Glass shop in Heaton Rd, Peckham. By traffic light at Rye end
  10. "as I went out to my allotment with a hey and ho and a nonny A fine young fox with tail so bonny and a clever black crow a cawing went with a etc etc sort of thing
  11. A friend found a fox upstairs and later saw his chewed wallet out on the lawn
  12. If anyone saw the TV programme on the scam "industry" in India, they wouldn't be surprised. I was amazed and horrified at how many people are employed there just to work scams. But yes, it's good to not to have to answer the phone at 12.00am and 6.00pm
  13. Very long queue 8.00am this morning. All round the car park. Good thing it's nice weather.
  14. And then come round to mine, if you haven't got enough
  15. Completely agree. Great idea. M&S- no car park- reasonably stocked shelves yesterday
  16. They were limiting in M&S this morning, I was glad to see. There seemed to be a good range of stuff there. My theory is that shops without car-parking aren't so vulnerable to people buying van loads of toilet paper and milk, so the stock remains almost normal.
  17. Now got a landlord's repossession notice on the window. A shame, it was so useful to quickly get bread.. I don't know why they closed it anyway, it was always busy
  18. The storm a few weeks ago brought down a large branch from an old cherry tree in Worlingham Rd., damaging the car parked underneath. Since then Southwark has cut down all the other old cherry trees in the street, (shame) but left this one untouched. I would like to know the reasoning behind this.
  19. I'm concerned that I've now got more frog spawn than my tiny pond can sustain. Can it be re-homed? If so, does anyone want some?
  20. Hastings, very arty, Folkestone, mixed, Rochester, perhaps too quiet
  21. Frogspawn in mine, seems a bit early.
  22. 160 Rye lane. Not far down past the end of the Rye if you're coming from ED road
  23. Just visited the new Crisis charity shop in Peckham. Very friendly staff and a very good range of stuff. Worth a visit. They need things too, they said.
  24. here in East Dulwich It helps to be so rich
