  1. Olympics? What olympics? Lynne
  2. If it's so easy to get here, it's also so easy to get back there? Lynne
  3. OK, if there are others who don't live on their patch I withdraw the "Only" part of it (incidently, being mistaken isn't quite the same as lying, e-dealer). And who are the others? But I hold to my point that an MP should live in their constituency. Can anyone explain why she shouldn't? Lynne
  4. At one time she was the only London MP who didn't live in her constituency. How's that for commitment? Lynne
  5. I don't think you need to be an "affluent 30 something" to appreciate good design. Iceland hasn't got an attractive frontage. Is there something wrong with wanting one's locality to look good? Why do some people try to turn everthing on the forum into a class debate? Lynne
  6. having been underpinned then massively overcharged for years by our insurance company because no-one else would touch us, I discovered that things have changed and lots of companies will. I'm now with Aviva - they insisted on a surveyors report, which cost about ?400 but we then saved over ?1000 on this year alone- and they threw in free contents cover too Lynne
  7. I did mean the house on the corner of Acre Drive, not the old police station. And it has been empty for years now Lynne
  8. if anyone wants info on old East Dulwich and can visit the area, may I recomend the Local Studies Library? Friendly helpful staff, records about anything and everything local. A bright place in a world where libraries seem to have given up the fight Lynne
  9. O Knowlegdeable people of East Dulwich! Does anyone know anything about the boarded-up house on Crystal Palace Rd (on road that used to lead to scaffolding company). It's been empty for years. Seems a waste Lynne
  10. Jeremy has the right answer, I think. I've moved bins in the past (in a rather shifty manner). If giggirl's mechanic is using the road as part of his business, that's illegal and the Council will/should/might put a stop to it. We had the same problem, he killed a tree by pouring oil into its base Lynne
  11. Bottles back at Worlingham/crawthew junction!!! Lynne
  12. Hi. Yes, I contacted Soutwark and they're taking it seriously, but until someone sees the culprit, there's not much they can do, I suppose. Lynne
  13. Thanks, Bellerophone. It would make a very secure police station! Lynne
  14. Anyone know what's happened to the old police station on Crystal Palace Rd? It's now boarded up. used to house some sort of special outfit, I believe. perhaps it could be put back to use as a real police station. Just a thought Lynne
  15. I remember the very lively border collie (I think) that you had years ago. Lynne
  16. Hi. What's going wrong with Dulwich Library?. Just been in there and there are five trollies full on books waiting to be shelved, plus the regular returns shelf, plus assorted heaps. Given that the book stock is none too good, it would help if what books they had were actually on the shelves. They said something about waiting for volunteers to be organised. Where are the staff? Not much of a service, in my opinion Lynne
  17. Thanks. if there's someone there, well, if you don't want to paint your house you needn't. It adds a touch of interest to the area Lynne
  18. Yuk yuk yuk! They're back! The council have said they'll prosecute, so if anyone sees the lunatic who's dumping them, please take a note of the car number and report him/her Lynne
  19. Does anyone know anything about the old empty shop on Lordship Lane, near the butchers, black paint, tatty curtains?. It's been empty as long as I can remember. It seems a waste of accomodation if the whole place is uninhabited Lynne
  20. Thanks for the sympathy, but the thought of contacting the local police did provide me with a bit of harmless amusement L
  21. The bottles full of urine at the corner of Worlingham,/Crawthew roads. There are about 20 there this morning. What it must be like for the owner of the house on which they lean doesn't bear thinking about. The locals are finding it disgusting and sickening. Someone saw a min-cab driver dumping one lot I wish I could offer you a solution. All I can think of is a CCTV camera, which as this spot is often used for fly tipping would be quite useful anyway. Presumably it's breaking the law concerning fly-tipping and also waste disposal. Lynne
  22. I'm glad this is providing everyone with a bit of harmless amusement. As someone who live very near,at the moment there are about 20 bottles and it's making me feel sick. Try laughing when they leave it on your doorstep and your children find it L
  23. If you look at the iron railings around the Dog Kennel Hill estate opposite ED station, you will see that they were made out of surplus stretchers made for use in the war. After it was all over, they were put to use all over London as fences and rails The flats at the bottom of Worlingham Rd stand where there was a church that got destroyed Lynne

    Mice!

It has to be snap traps, I've decided. If you use poison, they just creep away and die and then you get the smell. The sticky traps mean you have to dispose of wriggling mice. Over years of warfare I've decided that you can keep the numbers down, but not quite out. Mine live in the boiler, nice and warm and safe. As recomended, box up all food. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance, as someone said Lynne
  25. Mystery partly solved!!!!. My neighbour actually saw someone leaving the latest collection at the top of Worlingham Rd. She said it was a mini-cab but unfortunately didn't get the nunber. Is there nothing that can be done about it? Lynne
