  1. Oh duh, duh, DUH! I really do live up to my hair colour sometimes. Thanks... :))
  2. OK, I might be admitting to being a bit dumb now...but I just can't work it out. What road does TedMax allude to with his user name?
  3. 3 times in 2 weeks the Metro horoscopes have insinuated that my other half is having a work-based affair. How dare they! Lucky I don't believe in these things or I'd be starting to get paranoid...
  4. It's on Forest Hill Road between Dunstans Road and Ryedale. We finally got round to trying this cafe recently. We had a lovely breakfast sat out in the sunshine. The Finnish lady was there and was really attentive. And we took some lovely pain au chocolat home too.
  5. As a slightly shy poster, I hate it when my OH repeats what I've been posting on here when I get home. I'm going to hate it even more if he's read that everyone agrees with him on the pedestrian crossing thing!
  6. My OH always seethes when pedestrians don't thank him for stopping at crossings. I always say "Why whould they? You're supposed to stop". Occasionally I might though. My dad doesn't thank cars that have stopped for him to come through if it was his right of way (e.g. cars parked on the other side of the road) but I've tried to persuade him to start. It doesn't hurt to spread the love a little a reduce road rage. Maybe I should be more consistent and apply the same to pedestrian crossings.

Try http://www.ealingtoday.co.uk/ It's got a forum area although it's not quite as active as the EDF.
  8. Irreversible is an intersting choice...excellent film. But for the sake of my ears and eyes, I'm not sure I could watch it again.
  9. Today's list: Life is Beautiful Priscilla Queen Of The Desert Amelie Green Mile Dancer In The Dark Wicker Man Volver The Jungle Book Cinema Paradiso Butterfly's Tongue
  10. I do find it amazing that the flight paths are directly across the most populated area in the country. The French do not allow flights across Paris (or so I'm told). The difficulty I have in complaining though is that I do really rather enjoy being able to catch cheap flights for weekends away. So in return, should I just cope with the noise? Being woken at 4.46am on Saturday morning seems a bit harsh though (and I'm a good sleeper having grown up under the Gatwick flight path).
  11. I'm amazed that a body such as DVLA can sell your details. But I'm guessing their allowed to as it's a bit like councils selling electoral roll data. The dodgiest post I have ever received as been as a result of this so it's not like they're even discriminating in who they sell to. Now my boyfriend recently made a right turn where he shouldn't have whilst driving my car (I was in the car too and would have made the same error). In the PCN I received, I could only claim that I wasn't responsible as I wasn't driving if my car had been stolen. Now that seemed strange...I might lend my car to someone but can I really be held responsible for their driving? As for winning a car, why not? It may not be innovative but it's obviously meant to encourage people to renew road tax the most convenient way for them.
  12. I think it's just that they are more noticeable in the summer when there are less clouds to hide the noise. I do find the planes here surprisingly noisy though (and I have lived much closer to both Heathrow and Gatwick airports). Is it true it's the flight path to Heathrow?
  13. Things can only get better - D:Ream
  14. Especially For You - Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan (even sicklier...)
  15. And of course they can be used on all the local buses too. A few of the local newsagents can be used to put tickets or prepay on Oyster but the station can't.
  16. Showing that it takes a strangely long time before my brain functions in the morning...a number of times I have managed to be half way to work before realising the world was far more sharp-edged the day before and I'd forgotten my glasses. I'm a long way from blind but I do definitely need to wear them all the time!

  18. I'm probably being quite stupid but which are the other two shoe shops?
