  1. Most posts seem to me to be missing the point entirely imho. Isn't the issue that we'd all rather this was openly discussed amongst residents and their opinions sought and listened to by the powers that be? Whether it should or should not happen is a blunt debate here, but should be able to be had with the people behind the proposal and those that decide on it's appropriateness to the area. Then all this discussion about pros and cons can be had in an informative environment where responses are backed by fact (hopefully) and where comments from residents will make a difference (again hopefully). I think this is the central point of the petition; that a discussion should be had, not necessarily that the proposal be blocked. Tell me if I'm wrong?
  2. Fantastic links - thanks zephyr I am particularly pleased to see the (much besmirched on here) El Paso with a 4/5 rating and amazed that TN has only 1 star....
  3. So - is it teams of two? I have a friend in Nottingham I could invite down for the weekend to take part. Are ringers allowed?
  4. no spinning rules of course?
  5. I have Sky+ - is awesome - why bother with second best?

I'll happily be the first to admit to already having spent a small fortune in white stuff.... I'm sure there are others on here keeping quiet...

Not the grand designs houses? (wild guess)
  9. Maybe Quaywe (and others) should go and edit and correct earlier posts which had incorrect prices etc (or maybe admin could do it?) Does seem really unfair as it did sounds expensive til I realised classes were included! If I were in the market for another gym membership (two is enough for me;-)). I'd certainly consider it.
  10. I mentioned it a while ago - and facebook got a bit lambasted for just being another social networking site. Seems like facebook has become even more popular since then... http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,9022,9022#msg-9022
  11. also beware of discussions with said fake tradesmen where you might inadvertently tell them when you won't be in the house, i.e. to arrange a window cleaning visit...
  12. * baited breath *
  13. found one of those number 10 petition things to sign re: my issue here. http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/nomoretowingaway/ Rather took the wind out of my sails when I saw only 20 people have signed it ::o

  15. A good point is being made here though. this ticket was being issued by the council. Surely they should take into account that cars parked illegally here may well be doing so for a good reason (emergency rush to hospital) and therefore towing away is really not a sensible punishment. Anyway - knew I'd seen something about these heavy handed tactics and how councils aren't supposed to use then now... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article2267853.ece Seems it hasn't got through to Southwark yet...

Agree they couldn't have known who had parked it, but they could have taken a look at the pay and display ticket left in the window and realised it was a genuine mistake! Only actual gripe is the out of proportion penalty - still fuming....

Last time it happened to me I > became obsessed as well! re: the last thread - I didn't think at any point I suggested they should be ticketed, I just wondered if that were supposed to park illegally while issuing tickets. I've paid plenty of "fair cop" tickets in the past and had we just been issued a ticket on this occasion I would have taken it on the chin. It's the towing away of the car that leaves me speechless. If it is supposed to achieve us not doing it again then in this case this would not work as this was 100% genuine error - not saying they all have been :))
  18. I posted a couple of days back a couple of different threads on parking. At the risk of seeming obsessed - here's another one. I probably tempted fate in some way but we managed to get our car towed today. The wife went for a hospital appointment at Kings and got confused as to which side of the road was residents parking and which was pay and display. To cut a long story short when she returned from the appointment an hour later with our newborn ready to strap in the car was gone. A few phone calls later and she's now on the way to Bermondsey to pay ?260 to get it out of the pound. In what way is this punishment to fit the crime?!? Leaving a new mother stranded and extremely stressed for a genuine mistake. I thought the government was stopping heavy handed tactics such as this? (6)
  19. I can really see the agents in the Foxtons in Islington willingly giving up their commissions to send buyers to Dulwich :)
  20. nutty

    a joke

Can anyone give me some advice? A bloke offered me eight venison legs for 50 quid.... ... is that two deer?
  21. still no answer to the actual question then....
  22. As I said - ticket wasn't me - just made me wonder. I think it makes sense they can park wherever, as long as it's not dangerous, which near the junction as this was you *could* argue that it was. Anyway - just a discussion point.... seems like we need a parkie to give us the definitive answer
  23. Not *quite* the same Bob :) Anyway - here's the picture of said parked scooter, clearly on yellow line, with unfortunate ticketed beamer in front... http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1046/1359677123_e9689b48b5.jpg?v=0 There were actually plenty of non-yellow line spaces for the scooter within a stones throw - I think he was just being lazy....
  24. Just out of interest, are parking attendants allowed to park their scooters illegally whilst issuing tickets? n.b. wasn't me that got the ticket, but I witnessed this and need to settle the discussion myself and wife consequently had about whether it was fair or not that the scooter parked on the same yellow line he was ticketing for :)
  25. I agree the local traders need parking but does every estate agent who works at Ludlows need a car!? Surely it would make more sense for them all to get public transport to work and then share a pool of cars, therefore being kinder to the environment and taking up less parking spaces :) I bet they end up driving to properties that could be walked to in a matter of minutes... And that paint job is awful... ** edited this post as realised I had attributed cars to Bushells - doh! **
