I'd give it a go!

Sounds like an Eric Cantona Poem or something.

When will they put eye recognition software in these damn ATM's? That will teach those cloning card buggers.

Pathetic old racist fart on Frogley road (Lounged)
MelbourneGr replied to Shu.Kurimu.Sensei's topic in The Lounge
This kinda crap happens everywhere. It's unfortunate, and it's a small group of people that feel the need to attack someone because they're different. You shouldn't let something like this dictate what you do, or where you go. -
Olympics - I thought it was rigged like American Wrestling. I wonder how many medals will be stripped after this years Olympics?

My guess is ?5 - almost random guess. If I don't know what something costs, I usually go to at least 3 different suppliers / trades.

I'm really not liking this news about the HSBC ATM. I called HSBC recently on a totally different matter, only to be told my card had been cloned. I was given 2 options, 1) change pin and keep card, 2) Cancel card and have another re-issued. Ideally I would have liked to have taken option 2, but as I was going on holiday I went with option 1. I ended up changing my pin at the HSBC ATM. It's like a vicious circle. Better have a new one issued, the black ink was rubbing off the numbers anyway.

My Laptop is approaching its 3rd year in August ::o It's true, Laptops are so flimsy these days - especially those apple paper thin ones. they show it sliding so neatly into the A4 envelope but what they don't show is when that envelope is dropped from a small distance and the dust that comes out after. Tip: avoid using laptop keyboard, mouse and screen whenever possible.

If you have the system restore utility (usually under accessories --> system tools) you can revert back to how your PC was at a certain point in time. You would still have to back up anything important created after the system restore point. System restore points are usually created after modifying the system like installing new software. If you have installed anything recently, that could be causing the slowdown.

Winword? How old is your PC??? I don't usually wait around when my PC freezes up. It's a straight back up onto dvd of anything important then a clean format. I usually experience the problems you described when my virus scanner does an auto-scan from boot-up.

Say you're going on holiday and will need to use a local sim card. It's worked both times for me with Vodafone.

Good point, that advice was given to me 8 years ago.

My systems architecture teacher at college \:))/ Sommit about high end components used by Dell, rather than the cheapy PC's sold by high street outlets.

I couldn't help but feel sorry for the kids. The dad looked about 106 years old and was absolutely pathetic at controlling his kids. What's with making his wife push the pram stacked with Cider up the hill!? She looked about 40 years younger, but also prematurely aged. How can he be an alcholic? He doesn't even do anything! Stress free life.

It's like using a Satnav - a bit of common sense is required... If an outdated Satnav tells you to turn onto a road which has a no-entry sign, do you still take the turn?

They're both as bad as each other, but IMHO difficult to compare. We're comparing someones skin colour with sexual orientation. Neither should have any impact on anyhting you do. At school racism was rife, and so was homophobia, difference being was with racism everyone knew why it was wrong. What I noticed when I left school was racism continued, albeit in a mature indirect way, whereas being gay is something other people grow up to accept.

Parking in and around Lordship Lane
MelbourneGr replied to TJH's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The roads near East Dulwich Station are terrible for parking during the week. -
Apologies for any personal comments I made. I still think Peckham is a nice area. Also agree it can be rough - especially the north part where you have gangs. Bellenden area is fine. There is always the bus to Blackfriers from Honor Oak- but it takes forever. JJF - I never implied that anyone was racist - just making that clear Keef - I wouldn't go as far as Sydenham to compare houses, the houses there are whack.
-
Sorry but I have to give my two pennies worth... I would say Lordship Lane can get just as messy as Peckham Rye - on a proportional level Peckham Rye probably does well for the volume of people that pass through it and the nature of the shops on the road. So no one can say they don't go Peckham Rye because it smells or its dirty - it just makes me wonder what the real reason is. I've walked home many a time from Peckham Rye station to East Dulwich, late at night and have had no problems at all - if anything all I notice is the superior houses Peckham has in comparison to East Dulwich. Derogatory terms - blatantly used on this forum, especially when describing my beloved Peckham Rye. I'm not saying anyone is doing it in a racist way but for some people on this board, it's quite simply scratching the surface of deep inner beliefs. Take Clive for example - he goes off on one when challenged, clearly annoyed by this, the man is probably getting into a lather in front of his LCD PC screen. I usually link that kind of behaviour to bratty kids...
-
It doesn't matter what anyone says about the roads from Peckham and Camberwell that lead to Dulwich. Everyone says the same thing when you ask them where they live - and thats Dulwich...
-
Brick Lane is also known for its large Bangladeshi community. So no, I don't think Lordship Lane is becoming or will become the new Brick Lane.

Is that ?8.50 forever? Or for the next few months? How long have you been with them for?

Bus to Vauxhall (or clapham junction)
MelbourneGr replied to OutOfFocus's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I used to get the 40 to Elephant, then hop on the bakerloo line to Waterloo then get the train from there to Chessington which went through Clapham. It's the best route if you want a seat on each mode of transport. -
"I've had enough of you lot, you're all...."
MelbourneGr replied to SeanMacGabhann's topic in The Lounge
That was purely coincidence. It took me a few minutes to type that one-liner due to a phone call. If there is a disagreement with a few people on one thread, that probably won't stop most from interacting on another thread with another group of people. Like Ratty said, emotions run high sometimes. People cool down and come back.
