  1. Although the statement says "you lot", im pretty certain they are referring to a select few.
  2. Harold and Lou!? Josh Hartnett doesn't ring a bell. Was he the guy who played Jim Robinson? >:D<
  3. Someone knows their Neighbours rather well. I completely forgot Harold was a legend Tuba player.
  4. Yeah, as close a match as Sharlene was to Madge and Harold :))
  5. Erm...yeah, They're related. Didn't you know??
  6. The experience is priceless at that age.
  7. It's probably a little late, but in future you could use the RIBA website that has a directory of all half decent design practices. If you're holding a seminar of some sort, it's best arrange well in advance.
  8. I saw one in white paint on a bin next to the MIND shop. Looked like it had been done hastily...how sad

Quite right. They are slowly running out of steam though. Give it 10 years. I hope I don't have to eat my words.
  10. I live in the comfort that the BNP will never amount to anything serious.
  11. I don't actually read into it much, I haven't been too interested but things like: * Jobs being taken by foreigners * Housing going to foreigners Pretty much anything that should belong to someone of British decent. That really is the BNP in one line. I felt a bit stupid thinking "Yes, how true" to some of the BNP points. When you consider the following crude points: * Nobody wants a cleaner job's anymore apart from immigrants * It is in fact harder to get a council house when you move to this country; preference is given to those born here * Government decisions from the past have made is somewhat easy for foreigners to migrate - this is no longer the case * Consider: BNP has it all their way - what would the UK be like? Once again, the BNP disguise things in a clever way.
  12. It's important to note that the BNP disguise things in a very clever way. When reading some of their points, I actually found myself agreeing and thinking 'yes, that sounds about right and fair - if I was white'. I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however daft it is. The two key things are: 1) How you react to something, whether said or laid out in a manifesto 2) How you help the person(s) who believe/support the views
  13. Quite right, but it's not as crude as you make it sound. Sometimes there are clients who won't understand a report and assume the worst, even when it isn't that bad. I still recommend going to a professional consultancy rather than Estate agents that do homebuyers reports. The guys who do homebuyer reports may as well have been doing a culinary course before sitting their exam in construction technology.
  14. You can't generalise all Surveyors as "covering their arse". In situations where you have cowboy builders, dodgy DIY jobs and the like, it can be a good thing for a surveyor to cover his arse. Banks use estate agent surveyors - they're the guys who tick boxes and arrive at conclusions. You go to a professional consultant surveyor and you will get a much better service and a much higher invoice. Go for an RICS Surveyor if you want an accurate report done, covered by professional indemnity, and be ready to pay for it too.
  15. You cut any tree down in your back garden, or even "over prune" it, you'll get a heaving buldge in your back garden. You can take a risk and hope the buldge doesn't appear under your back wall... "Surveyors (who are no expert in these matters) give you the worst case scenario in order to cover their arses" - Funny but 100% untrue...how do you think Banks/Insurance companies assess the risk?
  16. Yes, many advantages for taking down the fence, but probably more disadvantages. On the church side of the green, you have a pavement approx. 400mm wide in most places. On the green side, I don't remember there even being a pavement. It's a narrow road. Now we can't have fence on one side, as people will start jumping up and down because "it looks aysemmetric" or something daft like that. I remember on a weekly school trip to the swimming baths, being stuck on that narrow road in a coach. If only the fence wasn't there, we could have just gone over the green where it was tight. I have no kids - but I find I have a duty of care to ALL children whether they are mine or not. Forget your narrow self-interest for five minutes!
  17. Keep the fence. That fence saved me and a lot of other people a lot of bother. The amount of times I've kicked a ball facing the main road a little too hard... You need to remember how small the park is compared to the "fenceless" parks. An extreme example - whats to stop a mad man nutter from driving through the park to bypass the roundabout? - I've thought about it many a time, but decided against it because I wouldn't get very far with the fence there. All these silly ideas people come up with - think about the practicality.
  18. Funny you should mention EDT and EDD cos I haven't a clue as to what they are.
  19. I dunno, my interpretation is that the EDE taints that side of the road all the way to No. 11. :-S Going back to the topic of this thread - I have only used the Stationers on that list and found it to be an expensive and demoralising experience but I think matey in there builds his worthless "advice time" into the item prices.
  20. Too close to the EDE...is good enough reason for this Forum.
  21. It's good its Friday, but I have nothing to do this weekend so it will be boring. Also, I won't get to see my secret crush at work till Monday :(
  22. The 'posh' schools are situated near Dulwich Village. The 'posh lot' usually came from far and wide. The locals from Herne Hill went to William Penn. I've always remembered DV to be a nice area. I don't remember ED being all that rough, just a bit cheap with Binnister toys, Gateways and 7-11. You could say ED was 'poorer' than it is now.
