Make ASBO's "unkool" by issuing a complimentary 50 lashes with the ASBO. Going by the above, showing off trophey lash marks will improve street cred.
  2. Youth Centers - apparently. According to some documentry last night the youths interviewed seemed to want youth centers as they could spend their time in there instead of outside causing havoc. A lot of them live in high density housing which leaves them little space so they hang about outside. If half of them continued education, 6th form college, University - they wouldn't be stuck at home all day. The youths also had a dissapointing outlook on the Government - (much like me but thats bye the bye and for different reasons) they feel the Government isn't doing enough for them. I think there is a gross misunderstanding as the Government has made it very easy for disadvantaged youths to continue education with nice cash incentives. One of the mentors featured in the programme who works closely with troubled youths, made an alarming point - that "attacking someone, putting someone in hospital isn't major to them". I couldn't help but think that some of the youths complaning were taking the easy route out and blaming everyone but themselves.
  3. I remember getting a seat on the train back in 1999 from East Dulwich at 8am. I'll be lucky if I get on the train at that time now. It was the same for the 176 bus - I'll be lucky if the bus driver even thinks about stopping at the Dominos stop. The population of East Dulwich has grown, and all for the better I say - as now I have to get up earlier, but it's worth it :).
  4. Looks like this will be a tied test. Hayden back and all. Was nice to see Pontings humble face again after the last test, haven't seen that since the 05 Ashes ha! He looked like he wanted to explode!
  5. Meaningless statistics. When confronted, pretend theres a 100% chance that the kid has a knife. Then run and don't look back.
  6. The groups act like little gangs, watching each others back and all the rest of it. A lot of them come from good backgrounds, but in most state schools its the cool thing in SE London to be in some sort of gang. Bob & ???? - Funny how you two were the only ones who seemed to pick up a colour issue when I don't think it even crossed anyone elses mind. Maybe it's something you feel very personal about and quite possibly believe. I don't know, and I don't care how you arrived at it - but it's worrying how people still glean such views from statements which suggest nothing to do with it. WTF is the "Race Card"? Stop using such terms to provoke and grow up. Sorry to dissapoint you but these gangs are a good mix. They are just like London, well mini version as they are full of culture and feature different races - It's just a shame they're up to no good.
  7. It's a certain group of kids. Influenced by money, rap music and being a bad boy. "The world owes me" / "Untouchable" / "I can have what I want" attitude. When I see kids behaving in such a way, I'm not afraid to show my disgust. What these kids need are role models. Another option is to do it the old fashioned way, a good clip around the ear!
  8. I have also been stuck trying to turn right at that junction, I was stuck in the box and had to reverse back as cars went around me. It is especially hard to do it when theres a bus in opposite direction trying to turn left, not to mention how dangerous it is as you can't see cars coming from behind the bus. One has to be watchful of the oncoming traffic going towards lordship lane as there is a tendancy for cars to go through the Red light, which usually cuts off people wanting to turn right. Similar to the Camberwell Green crossroads, the filter light for people turning right towards Peckham, has made an insane junction work.
  9. "I live in one of the few council properties and I am definatley part of the dark undercurrant, Rhubarb and blueberries." Terrible. ::o
  10. Kellyscartoons I still don't believe (council houses + maudsley) = dark undercurrent. It probably gets ED snobs jumping up and down mind. Dark undercurrent is what I would call the nutter who kept a skull on his window ledge for 5 years on Melbourne Grove. BTW, apologies accepted. Regards
  11. Most of them are harmless. Just because they may live "the many council properties", it does not mean they bring a "dark undercurrent" to the area. I consider myself a "local character" but I don't live in one of "the many council properties", nor do I bring a "dark undercurrent" to the area.
  12. I thought Camberwell already had an underground tunnel link and station...It's been closed for some time though.
  13. Not sure which project they're working on, nor the contractor they work for. It was raining today so they were sat inside. For once the rain did us a favour.
  14. I prefer to speak to someone in person. That way they can hear the tone you're speaking in and gauge how you feel about it. However, in my experience with Southwork, you're usually in the wrong even if you're right.
  15. Noisy buggers - the ring leader is the fat bald bloke who seems to laugh at everything. He has a very annoying laugh which penetrates my double glazing rather well. I should just ignore them for now. The cowboy project they're working on won't last forever.
  16. It's an unfortunate situation - but some people are not trained well. Others lack common sense. Peckham McD's for instance.
  17. When I was sick on the 176, one musician (carrying a musical instrument of some sort) correctly identified Southern Comfort and Lemonade as the cause. It happens so much on the 176 on a Fri/Sat night but when it's me I seem to be the only one!
  18. There is always the Timber Yard opposite Grove Vale School.
