wouldnt you agree that gentrification and regeneration are very different?

when i spoke to them (white stuff) , they said that next doors is theres and they will be opening EITHER a shoe shop OR baby clothes ...?

they didnt go out of business in the 80's!! that chip shop is about 5 doors down from me on the corner of Landcroft Road... it was mid 90's easily... but all the same still 10 years ago!!! its does look very ugly indeed!! the family DO still live there, although only an older man, who used to run the chippy is ever seen! the reason that it cant be sold (as i understand) is that when they bought the place they loaned money off the bank of china...and apparantly the bank of china will not sell the property on as they are owed money? PLUS this guy still lives there and refues to move! hope this sheds some light...

you cant beat Beaney at the mag ... slightly crazy, incredibly funny and extremely hard not to like! he always gets the crowds in!

upon visiting barnsbury 2 weeks ago ... it was hard to imagine what it used to be like before it became gentrified.... wondered if anyone could enlighten me? has their population always been made up of predominantly middle-class? how did the house prices change? (if they did) was there a noticeable difference? (aimed at all who have lived in and around Islington who would have experienced these changes)

Sema's on underhill road is the only place i go for a chippy takeaway!

i paid ?8.50 for half a sandwich in there known as the 'club' sandwich!! wont be going there again!

excellent guys... really helping me out great to get an insight into what everybody can tell me through experience... am doing this comparison, as Barnsbury in Islington is the only known case of Super-Gentrification in Britain and Im doing a case study on East Dulwich, to explore the effects of gentrification... so everything helps.. for example: why you moved? what are the similarities? what are the crucial differences? (aware that i have some great feedback already) anything you would like to add in general!

OR merely and extended form of regeneration? Using East Duwlich (Lordship Lane) as a case study, I will examine the pro's and con's of gentrification and the effects it has on society." Has there been side effects to the newly gentrified ED? if you havent already would you care to suggest your views on the pro's and con's of this gentrification?

most probably just because it isnt the 'norm' and they are 'new', whereas the other chains have been around for a while, almost as though they have our consent! generally i think the gentrification is a good thing.. but i have to llok at pros and cons to get a balanced argument!

i do understand, just wasnt the main point of what we were talking about ... so in effect, doesnt matter so much to our conversation!
