  1. And 8-10 2 litre bottles, full, dumped on the side of Crawthew near junction with Lacon. Or is this the same 'batch'? Something for Foxy to go and find out about.
  2. Just look into their eyes and say "That's bollocks!" whenever quoted anything so ridiculous. They will then say "Oh, sorry, didn't realise you weren't a complete mug. Here's the real up-front price." Whereupon you 'tut', shake your head and say "Do me a favour" which should lead to an Estate Agent's idea of the real up-front price (i.e. an outrageously inflated sum but probably as good a deal as you will get).
  3. UDT's definition seems to be that commercial music is stuff that lots of people like and are prepared to pay for. The fact that it appeals to a lot of people must - in his view - devalue its integrity as it can only have acheived such appeal by compromise and using lowest-common-denominator musical tricks and must have sacrificed its true originality on the altar of widespread acceptability. Thus, if the Osmonds had released "Crazy Horses" in its original form (with Jay's screaming "Fuck me Mother fuck me!" and hurling his snare drum at his simpering brothers after the first chorus) it may have been a cult hit rather than a TOTP favourite.
  4. Whilst my personal shopper was helping me look for a pair of vintage Brutus jeans (with appliques) and some mauve 'stay-press' loons we chilled out to; The Bar Kays, Creative Source, Parliament and Leon Haywood... but we still listened to the odd bit of Kool & The Gang and the Jackson Sisters. Still, that's House of Fraser for you.

    BBQ Meat?

A trip to Smithfield - doesn't have to be 3am - you can get some very good stuff at good prices around 6-7am.
  7. I'm with you Tillie - the spanners finished me off completely - left helplessly contemplating a satin finish on a 3/4" open-ended/ring spanner combo. Even thinking about it now hurts.

"just yesterday I received a free spanner in the post after I complained to the manufacturer that they changed the spanner's finish from satin chrome to polished chrome." Gold, pure gold.

I like a historical artefact, me. There is an opportunity for a poor phonetic-pun-type joke to be made here. Wondering if saying it would be utteringly inane. Probably.

Yes, the spin-debacle in Dubai was a reminder that they (England) couldn't deal with the turning ball - something that got better against Sri Lanka and will be properly tested against India in the winter. But there was still a feeling that at home England were nearly unbeatable and to see them beaten by a good team - rather than by a suicidal collapse in form - is a good thing and made for good test cricket. Tbh I didn't expect England to still be batting after lunch and in the past they wouldn't have been - I think England have got better in every game.

  17. SA obviously a better team - they were the better team when England still had Pietersen and they are much the better side now. I don't think it's a bad thing - good to see England face a very good side instead of knocking over teams by an innings plus (too easy and not tremendous fun after the first couple of times - unless it's Australia natch.) - and good to see Strauss and Cook brought up short again - made to realise they're not as good as some folk have said which will mean them going back and working on their strokes/defence/patience. Having said this England have responded well in this series (looked like a whitewash at one point) and are capable of beating them if on top of their game.

And people who block the doorways with their bloody bicycles.

They also need a goal scorer!!! If Suarez hadn't forced himself into the early running for the 'Torres' or 'Cow's Arse/Banjo' stakes things might have been different but Rodgers' refusal to use Carroll until he had to was a fault. Good news re Diame and nice to see Maiga has confidence to try and round gk when only on for last 9 minutes - Villa looked poor though.
  21. The really daring ones are the tube walkers, carriage to carriage on the Northern Line is a real feat - I think they are probably tourists looking for the buffet car or the loos.
  22. After the holier-than-thou brow-beating by Olympophile journalists in the past week it was a day of: - players fined for Twittering, - and going on strike for a move to a richer bigger club' - managers sniping at each other, - and the dawning reminder that TV's dominance of the game means that three of the four clubs most people think will contest the premiership don't even play today... ...all paling into insignificance the moment Nolan scores a hotly disputed (by Villa) goal and gives the Irons an opening day victory... aaah, it's good to have it back and to be back in it! B)
  23. That weird helmet with the large peak makes Taylor look like a baby duckling, what is he 5'2"?
  24. Arsenal and Liverpool could do well if they click straight away but will be in trouble if they take time to settle. Newcastle could sneak in if that happens. Chelsea and Spurs need an overhaul - can't really see beyond the Mancs fighting it out again well clear of the pack. Irons top ten. QPR, Swansea, Wigan, Norwich & Reading to fight the drop.
  25. Now that the Olympics have departed The Arsenal Olympic Stadium Mystery recommences... I have grave doubts about its suitability for football as it looks too big (even taking the temporary seating option into account) and the pitch and players too far away from the fans - can anyone who has visited it provide a 'live' perspective? Anyone who has been to the OS AND Upton Park?
