Echo Otta's sentiment about being crap at this (or I'd be doing the pools - do they still exist?) but as everyone seems to be having a punt... Swansea 2 Everton 1 Chelsea 2 Stoke 2 Southampton 1 Aston Villa 2 West Brom 0 Reading 0 West Ham 3 Sunderland 1 Wigan 2 Fulham 1 Liverpool 1 Man Utd 3 Newcastle 2 Norwich 0 Man City 2 Arsenal 3 Tottenham 2 QPR 1 ...maybe the Lawro game should have a thread of its own. The Anfield panto starts tonight (Ch 5 9pm), wonder how mawkish/intrusive/emotionally-manipulative the prog. will get when it deals with recent events... well it IS channel five...

Downsizing - bound to happen in the end

Mancini has been a bit harsh on Hart imo - If he doesn't want his players criticising the team/performance then he should ban them from giving interviews immediately after games and see how that sits with the tv companies. I thought it was refreshing to hear Hart's disappointment and anger come through instead of the usual platitudes tv interviewers love (like the follow up with Mourinho with tv idiot desperately trying to get 'the special one' to say he felt sympathy for Man City - plucky losers etc. - only to be met with a typically blunt "No").

"I'm no longer married and so haven't settled into that cosy 'I've got him so don't have to make an effort' mode that I see going on...." Is this your way of saying you think the married women of ED look like dogs? Maybe you see botox as a pre-emptive strike for the poor gals of ED in case hubby ups and leaves? Or is this a long game and the key player is your "best friend's hubby" (keys in the bowl and the winner gets a face full of poison and a pearl necklace)?

Sounds like an incredible deal - at that price I'll certainly give it a go; was/is the beer of a similarly high quality and decent price? (iow what's the price of a burger and a pint?)

Yes I see that - I always thought that Ferdinand's problem was that; First he did not believe Cole had not heard the abuse. Second that - if Cole really didn't see/hear it - he supposed Cole having seen the evidence (footage) later might have refused to testify for Terry or been expected to support his (Ferdinand's) case when it became obvious Terry was going to try and wriggle out of it using an argument that could not be definitively disproved. Instead he actively backed Terry's version when he said; "while racism should never be tolerated, repeating what you thought someone said was "completely different". [how does he know that's what happened if, as he claims, he didn't hear it?] "If I repeated something that I thought you said, that's totally different than if someone just says something," [same problem - backs Terry's 'lie' despite claiming never to have heard it] Also let's not forget Cole said Terry was "inspirational" and that the case should never have been brought to court.

Then I said "Did you think John > was being racist?" Anton said 'No, no'." The two > players then shook hands and went their separate > ways. Ferdinand said that because he wasn't looking at Terry or within earshot when Terry yelled his racist abuse so was unaware of it right after the match (he only learned of it later when he saw the footage). The abuse was clearly caught on camera and absolutely did not contain the words/phrase 'did you think I was calling you' or 'I never called you' but rather straight forward racist abuse. It should see him banned REGARDLESS of the 'context' Terry lied about in court (a lie which the Judge admitted he suspected but could not prove) as the FA's position is that the 'racially abusive languge' is NEVER excusable even if Terry was 'quoting' or 'questioning' what Ferdinand may or may not have thought or heard.

Fine game last night on 4 - SF49ers win over Detroit showed they are still one of the best sides (outfits) in the NFC. They are being called 'old school' because of their all round game (great defence, great running and passing) and certainly don't look as one-D as some other sides. Left bleary-eyed this am though. Go 49ers!

The security the Co-op used to employ were there to protect the staff rather than nick shoplifters. Now they have been dispensed with it's not surprising no staff member wants to chase after a mass beef tea-leaf (why does that suddenly sound delicious?).

So, Wellbeck has obviously worked on his diving and now gets the penalty. Dirty cheating diving b*stard or credit to the game? Suppose that depends on whether he dives for ManU or England.
