  1. Doesn't explain Boycott's long career...
  2. minder Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Can anyone identify jamesb and itowill's photos? I posted some photos on the nature thread in ED section re identifying bees and hoverflies and was informed that hoverflies have only one pair of wings unlike bees and wasps and hornets which have two - researching this myself I found there are hundreds of different hoverflies many of which mimic bees/wasps to deter predators.
  3. Nothing on Red Robin? ManU coup or Gooner death knell? (waits for gooners to say they've had the best of him anyway and he's past it now and for blueys to dismiss his signing as too little too late)
  4. I heard of a girl who kicked a whole nest of them... more here - http://www.borderbookshop.co.uk/storefront/images/comics/bigname/thumbs/hornet.jpg
  5. ECB have handled the whole thing badly - this text thing is an excuse. We know he can be a tool but Pietersen isn't the only one who will want to play the whole IPL in years to come (and the Aussie Big Bash) and one season there is worth more than a central contract for those offered big pay packets (Anderson, Broad, Prior) but not maybe some others (Strauss). ECB have to accept it and deal with it or they will lose. He may not 'make' an English cricket team (nor did Flintoff or Botham) but he is the biggest draw in the country and the ECB need fans to come back to the game.

  7. If they are on the shop's forecourt they have a right to have them there - if they are on the pavement (HofT and Draft House for example) they don't. If you call Southwark Council and ask to speak to someone about 'street furniture' (which is what they call these things) they will usually send someone down to check it out and warn businesses if they think it's getting out of hand.
  8. You should be grateful it wasn't Sly & Reggie...

  10. "What a great party, shame it's coming to an end." "Hey I know an all-night cafe where we can go!" "Yeah and they serve beer if you buy a plate of chips!" "The fun doesn't have to stop now!" "Let's go!"
  11. When does the next lot start? (You know, the ones we're supposed to be equally enthused about, the ones we say we're looking forward to with the same relish, the ones where the word 'courage' will be used a lot by the press, the ones we really don't give a t*ss about that come after the main ones).
  12. A friend of mine from SW9 hates the Brixton Village thingy as most of the places he used to go to to buy his groceries have closed and/or become little eateries so he has to go further afield.

So 'therapeutic' use of synthetic testosterone is okay then? No, he was 'at it'. The levels had dropped by fight-time as the steroids had already done their job. Khan's right - the IBF are sanctioning drug use. But hey, boxing? Dirty? who'da thought.
  14. Hampshire's own Ottabourne FC missed out on the title in the Hants Premier League by one point in 2008 and won the Andover Floodlight Cup in 2010. ...and these guys have just joined the NASLeague - http://cerebra.ca/commercial/ADMINII/users/5222/image/Ottawa-NASL-Temp-Crest.jpg so it's early days...
  15. Dear Russel... this is what happens when you give up the drugs. ETA: Thankyou Trevor for the information - no this is like, fish.. barrel.. enough's enough. I think Thelma's Gypsy girls is on the other channel "I'll pin ya, ya fecker, I swear to God on me Grandad's life I will, I'll pin ya!"
  16. I thought the anorexic clothes-horses were a fitting tribute to the thousands of dedicated athletes - Did someone book the Czech Republic Mime Federation Closing Party by mistake? And who's that old Scottish woman on the boat?
  17. So it's over... Ah bien, ce sera un soulagement ne pas ? avoir ? entendre tout ce qui a annonc? en fran?ais tout d'abord, je suppose... Ah well, It will be a relief not to have to hear everything announced in French first I suppose...
  18. It does have the air of a disco at the end of the village fete where no one really carse that it's all a bit naff and where the dj only has a small pile of old 45s to play and re-play anyway... more fun to be a part of than to watch certainly.
  19. wait until he finds out the whole thing only last a couple of weeks...
  20. Emili Sande - what a dirge! I know you're meant to serve up some cheese at the end of a banquet but this is going too far. And who were those third rate acrobats/dancers? and Stomp? Really?! Even prince harold looked glum - he must have seen the rehearsals - either that or gran has popped her clogs and he doesn't want to let on and spoil the 'party'.
  21. Only with the beard.
  22. I heard someone say it was 'close' today. I think it must be trying to be a very hairy man when it's close.
  23. Talk about how great life used to be in ED but how it all sadly changed for the worse, forcing you to 'move on' and how you- "could never live in a big city environment again anyway" because all the real people have moved to Fulmetch/Gressbourne/Harbinger-Mallow etc.
  24. Now that the new season is fast approaching I'm a little concerned at the lack of transfer activity down at the Boleyn. The Carroll fantasy having been shattered we're looking thin. A tense, nervy season beckons if Gold & Sullivan don't spend. On a lighter note - more FIFA-type hilarity with England now ranked 3rd best team in the world.
  25. Edited to remove duplicate (I must have confused the software with Enmgland's position)
