  3. Was it whistling as it went? If so then yes, I've seen the cocky b*st*rd.
  4. Quite a few people I know are on holiday right now.

    oops

' well it happens to all of us...
  6. Looks like the kind of mini-van you would transport prisoners in.
  7. I am getting rather racked off with every BBC pundit using the same few stock opening gambits when talking to sports-persons, post event: "What's your reaction to that?" - "How does/did that feel?" - "Talk us through it" NO, YOU talk us through it you lazy, witless, tit. Then ask a question you think may produce an answer other than "Amazing!/Gutted!", it IS your job after all.
  8. I didn't know the asymmetric bars had been renamed the 'uneven' bars in the limpics. Sounds more precarious now.

Curling really belongs in the Winter games but can be effective if you manage a long slow push that results in a clean slide. The brushes can be a little scratchy though - however efficient they are in removing troublesome grit and stubborn shards.
  11. I saw that too... what are we talking about?
  12. My favourite is the 10m platform dive - once you're committed there's no going back but done properly there's very little splash and you get added points for the degree of difficulty.
  13. Particularly liked that the lap of honour included all the heptathletes in that group; reminded me of D. Thompson sitting around and joking with other decathletes while watching one of them high-jump or prepare to pole-vault.

But possibly not as much as GBU...
  15. Some kind of Aralia?
  16. Shouldn't this be under the 'Inane News' thread?
  17. Atticus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why not get a real friend instead of humanising > the behaviour of Tiddles? Because tying a bit of old rag to a length of fishing line, tying that to a long bamboo cane and then flicking it around the room in circles while you sit in comfort on the sofa will not have a real friend skidding along the floor, or bouncing off doors/walls, or leaping head-first into a skirting board. And putting a cereal box on a friend's head will not have them backing away in a circle in a hilarious fashion. And substituting a cereal box with a yoghurt pot will not have a friend distorting his face and sticking out his tongue to a painful, yet ultimately frustratingly ineffective, degree in an effort to remove the traces of yoghurt which have begun to attract flies. Nor will switching the hoover on and off have a friend jump three feet vertically in the air with shock. Cats. You gotta laugh.

  19. I saw a London bus today that wasn't red. I saw one a few weeks ago that wasn't red also but that was a different colour to the one I saw today. The one I saw today was (predominantly) white.

  21. ianr just liked looking at them in their combinationals.
  22. I have walked along Lordship Lane most week-days for the last 5 or 6 years and rarely seem to see the same face twice. Spooky. My memory for faces, however, is quite poor.
  23. Celestial (I think it's his, seem to remember him saying something about it once...), the one next to Dulwich DIY - I checked it on my way home and it's "Gold Medal Sale" (with the four rings) so maybe not as Olympic as I thought - unless he has a stock of gold medals, natch.
  24. yes some people do it for charity... and some people that approach you and ask you for a couple of quid, as they've lost their Oyster card and need to get home, are telling the truth.
  25. I have just looked and I see that it's Thursday again. This happens a lot.
