Spain were pure class and it was great to see a team win in style rather than a tense stalemate settled by penalties. And as another one-off-tournament-thread draws to a close it's time to reflect on the glories we have seen and ask those questions that we have all been left wondering... like, entertaining as it was for us footyfiles, was it really necessary to show the final on BBC AND ITV? And why was ITV's feed some 3 seconds behind the Beeb's? Any live-broadcasting experts (*pauses to allow UDT to step forward) care to enlighten me?

Let's not forget that in my welter of mis-prognostications I also predicted an Italian victory (albeit using fallacious retroactive schoolboy reverse psychology)... ...so if you were to ask me I would say that - given the relative sizes of the debt crisis in each country - and the amount earned by the average Italian footballer (as a result of their recent corruption scandal) against the amount earned by the average Spanish footballer (benefiting from ludicrous tax breaks and their clubs massive debts) - I would have to say that 120mins followed by penalties would give betfair and paddy power the most money-making opportunities either team a chance to come out victors. But I know you want a real forecast so I predict that the Italians will score too early (any time in the first 60mins) meaning the Spaniards will scrap plan A and bring on a striker (Torres?) who will win the game for them. 8. Re quids' original nominee - any reality talent-show winner who (secretly) realises they're lucky to be where they are and is scared they will be found out and so becomes fractiously pompous about their 'art' and 'persona' - (Will Young, Cheryl Cole, etc... etc...) Any old comic who hasn't had the 'We-Love-Ronnie-Corbett' makeover (Tarby, Davidson, etc.) ...and of course that little Granty chap - all floppy hair and s-s-stuttery charm, my arse.

Yes.. well, I've had a word with Herr Schweinsteiger my contact in the German camp and he assures me the current situation is down to an untimely lapse of his side's usual efficiency - in that they forgot to pay the Italians up front. ETA: and leaving out Il martello felice was a dirty trick... Above the clatter of studs I could clearly hear "Wo sind der braun envelopen?!" in the background and "Was ist der Italienisch fur 'bung'?" so I am confident the second half will see order restored. *puts in telephone order for more Paddy Power shares and admires expensive pair of ocelot slippers online*
  15. They were supposed to go to the Lordship Lane in Tottenham but bottled it, Earl's Court was in gridlock and Lords Close turned out to be a deserted cul-de-sac - we were the 'safe' option and near enough to Norwood to make the deadline.

Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ...and Today's prediction maxxi? The fact that Portugal lost doesn't mean it wasn't a good bet, well, you know what I mean... anyway today is easy, 3-1 to zer Tchermans (even if Pirlo has a pearler... see what i did there?)... the 'Hammer-effect' of the Italians starting with Diamanti will be lessened as he will have much more time to cock it all up. I'd go further and say the chances of a red card are quite high with that stroppy French ref in charge Placer vos Paris, mes amis! *Stuffs Paddy Power shares deep into sock* B)

This is assuming the initial statistic wasn't made up.

You sure? Spain are pretty much evens or slight odds-on everywhere but Portugal are 7/2 which has to be tempting...
