You're not alone Junad - some (not all by any means) bus drivers seem increasingly to regard passengers as an inconvenience rather than the reason they have a job. There are also a good many adults who feel unconditional respect is due them from minors regardless of the circumstances and if you gave them "back talk and attitude" in response you would only be confirming their prejudices. If they are leaving you standing then by all means complain but if it's just bad tempered mutterings and grumpy interrogation I would be tempted (provided there are no outright insults etc.) to advise you to smile benignly at them and dismiss it out of hand - pausing only to wonder how miserable their lives must be.

The only thing 'alarming' about the England performance was that it was like all the other pre-tourny performances... Very Capello-like in their possession footy and in passing it around with an air of calm nonchalance and the usual disintegration into impotence in the second half... all very sedate and unruffled... as usual... until the first proper competitive game when they will all hurry the ball around as though it were a grenade with the pin out, pass badly, hit long balls and generally play with the fear, panic and lack of skill that has categorised England's major tournament performances for years.

How busy are ED curry houses on a Sunday?
maxxi replied to Alan Medic's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Most of the curry houses (the CC included) do the fixed-price buffet thing for Sundays - might want to check to see if they're also doing the usual menu before going. -

Jeez. Be fair, she was also "hanging around the corners" - this is a 'hanging' offence for some of the curtain twitchers around here...

A fine line indeed... one that - should you manage to get it together with your neighbour and one night, in a fit of self-awareness mixed with modesty and narcissism, tell her about how you consulted 'the forum' about what to do - will become starkly obvious as she backs away from you with wide eyes and a "I think you should go..." trembling on her lips. Or she may think it a hoot.

The Dutch and the Germans to contest the final (the Dutch kicking Spain out of it in the semis as the ref's not Howard Webb) and the most boring final on record to go to penalties which the Dutch will win 5-4... with Schweinsteiger missing again. England to bow out with two losses (France, Sweden) and a draw (Ukraine).

Nah, when they start cramping and crying we just barrack them even louder - the more they earn, the greater the humiliation heaped upon them... then when they can't go on we send in some five year old girls and a couple of grannies to dribble around them.
-
With sympathetic refs the Dutch could kick (as in lumps-out-of-everyone-else) their way to victory... but Schweinsteiger and co. will probably engineer some kind of Deutsches Wiederaufleben...

Re penalties - nope - just make them keep playing until someone scores or they drop. Let's get our money's worth. On another note - delighted to see the back of Bouba-Diop and Carew (Faubert gone too - had a few good games but never really made it stick) and hope rumours regarding Joe Cole are true.

Last hurrah - ideas for a weekend with a pregnant woman
maxxi replied to RosieH's topic in The Lounge
A fractious, pernickety pregnant woman about to drop-?!? Take her on a tour of Amsterdam coffee shops, before the Dutch ban tourists in Jan 2013, and let her eat cake... lots of cake... the flowers are pretty too. -
Anyone who saw the start of the birds of prey display at Dulwich Park festival last Sunday will remember the first two birds that the old-chap-in-charge put up, a kind of Falcon and a Harris Hawk I think, having a run in with a couple of crows. "They could see off those two crows any time they liked" asserted our Falconer - but to the untutored eye the crows seemed to be giving as good as they got if not better. Always liked crows, and magpies (though if I see a singleton I still salute it - about the only superstition I can't shed...)

Crows will and do attack anything they see as a threat - and also anything new in their environment. Is your cat a newbie? There's a reason why they call a group of crows a 'murder'...
