  2. late morning or early afternoon is best - the ticket machine may still be broken so if there is a queue don't forget to tear one off (a ticket!) the reel lying on the table outside the waiting room

  4. Ah... so now sitting on a bar stool staring out of the window at passers-by will be a sociological exercise and the scampi fries will be responsibly sourced - sounds like they're chasing the after-school teacher drinker. They'd be better off offering live racing and cheese and onion rolls.

Club versus country is a nonsense. I'm neither gooner nor Irish but know those who are and was only wondering if the wave of anger against TH at the time (by some Ir Gnrs) was in the safe and certain knowledge that he could be hated as he was no longer one of their own and whether this recent turn of events had left any with words to eat? I remember having to eat a sackful when previous Gooner hero Ian Wright signed for WH - the cheating, goal-hanging, over-rated clogger became a talented, graceful, prolific goal scorer with the instincts of a world class striker almost overnight. p.s. - 9700 btw.
  6. was going to fill it in but the dog ate my answers
  7. So hero then...
  8. Schmutzig - 50% cola 50% orangeade - try it.
  9. Oops, what's up Huck? You in charge of the new year subscriptions drive? Go get 'em ya pushy little whipper snapper.
  10. Makes me wonder how Irish Gooners are feeling right now.... club or country? Returning Hero or Cheating Tosser?

  12. Terrorist strike at Olympics turns out to be work of disgruntled employee Coalition collapses Pound Shop opens on LL National Day of Celebration as Frank Lampard fucks off to USA Tax on advertising and falling house prices sees increase in ED 'yard sales'

  14. Big Sam has to admit that Carew is a massive waste of space and offload him in favour of a striker in Jan. End of year report - Allardyce, Samuel : Form IIB.... "After having difficulty settling in, Sammy has been popular with his fellow classmates and has learned to play nicely and not to kick the class football onto the boiler house roof when he doesn't get his way. His penchant for 'big' pals has, however, led him to neglect coursework and take the odd short cut. That this approach garnered some popularity led to a complacency that has served to lessen his acheivements to date. We hope next term will see Sammy make new friends, especially those who have a habit of putting the fucking ball in the net."

And on iPods - my OH has one but seems to have to go through iTunes to copy her own CDs onto it, ridiculous non? I have a cheap (under ?20) dongle-shaped MP3 which plugs into a USB port and will take any tracks from Windows Media Player on drag and drop.
  16. My sincere condolences and sympathy Ruth. I never met SimonM but enjoyed a lot of his posts and also sparring with him whether it was football or apostrophes. I can only echo what Clare and DC have said - the forum will be poorer without him.
  17. Does not NEED to be spicy no, but when you get the taste for it... When I first tried a vindaloo many years ago I thought I had been permanently damaged in the taste buds and that anyone who ate it was an idiot, a show-off, a liar or a masochist. I now love vindaloo and naga and all spicy food - I have been known to put Flying Goose Chilli Sauce on everything from a cheese sandwich to a fish finger (yes, I am a gourmand). For me this is because when the initial pain of that first vindaloo died away I felt/tasted something wonderful and highly addictive hiding in the background. I have been chasing it ever since.

And since he might be cheered up by my > visit maybe I should visit but take precautions. > are there any effective precautions? Stay away. Do not go. Seriously. I caught the Norovirus two winters ago, my Other Half nursed me at arms length and we did everything to stop her catching it too - but to no avail. It is a tenacious bastard, highly contagious and very, very, very unpleasant. I've had a few illnesses over the years but very little compares to the sheer hell of the first couple of days of this swine of a virus - and you remain able to infect others for longer than you might think (like when you start to feel better) up to a week after the first symptoms. When I caught it I was warned by Doctors not to leave the house or go near ANYONE, that there was nothing that could be done to help or cure it but that you had to suffer and ride it out. I still remember it with a shudder - I am sorry for your stepson but if you go you WILL catch it (unlike a lot of viruses it aerosolises with vomiting etc. and is far more contagious than a cold or flu) and you will infect everyone you meet afterwards and have a Hellish time. Oh, btw, did I say? DON'T GO!!! ETA: I caught the virus whilst my OH was away and was two days into it when she returned - we assumed I wouldn't be as contagious by then and if we took precautions it would be fine. It wasn't.

They are like a lot of religious groups with a strong theological pov and are against practising homosexuals - though celibate ones are tolerated. sally-ann boycott
  20. No need for wax disc if metal top has the plastic coating that most jar lids have these days (especially if they are jars from pickles/chutneys in the first place. I have made chutney for a number of years too and never needed or used wax discs. 45 years ago jar lids didn't have the coating they have now so you did need the wax but now it really isn't necessary. ETA: The Patak jars (the smaller ones for the curry pastes not the cook-in sauces) make great chutney jars as the safety button in the middle of the lid is raised enough to give a satisfying click as the cooling chutney sucks it down and means it really is airtight.

Indeed - and then let's hear about the ban (including internationals) they propose for Terry.
  22. Spices? SPICES!?!? When I were a lad if we wanted spice we had to sit next to a foreign gent on the bus and squeeze his sweat onto our chips. Spices? Hah!

    Life's too short

Those you mentioned never made me want to hide behind a cushion or cause my cheeks to clench like a miser holding a groat - they involved elements of cringeing (as did Laurel and Hardy if we're going to be ruthless and let's not even start on Michael Crawford) but- The Office et al are ONLY about how awful someone can be - same as that US comedy from the Seinfeld fellow - and have an air of reality that 2D caricatures like Rigsby didn't, the embarrassment in The Office is not only of one's Dad dancing at a wedding but also getting his cock out, sticking it in the vicar's ear and shouting profanities at him in the belief it is humourous... Rigsby is merely a panto dame/villain and we experience HIS embarrassment rather than feel it and see it coming.

    Xmas e Cards

I don't mind e-cards per se, I just resent having had to buy 20 laptops so I can display them all.
