You're a big man, but you're in bad shape. With me it's a full time job. Now behave yourself.

Yes but what happens if they start acting like arseholes and make life a misery for people without actually breaking any laws - do they lose theirs too? Is that the criteria? Knighthoods are sweeties given out by the govt. to either: sad little men and women who believe their lives are enriched by having one and so bribe, fawn, blackmail and grovel, their way to one OR: People who have achieved something out-of-the-ordinary or committed themselves selflessly to some cause or other (or are seen as VERY popular by the govt. by dint of having achieved something which attracts wide acclaim) so that they are rewarded in the hope that the affection people feel for this person or the knowledge of their good deeds will promote a feeling of beneficence which will rub off on parliament. > > How people life Jeffery Archer kept their > knighthoods after being to prison is beyond me, > Goodwin's far from the only one to have brought > the system into disrepute.... Because no one really cared about knighthoods at the time and it is only now that we are all wondering what Cameron and his chums are going to DO about the mess their mates got us into that straws are being grabbed at, camels crippled and headlines manufactured. Goodwin loses Knighthood?! Phew, that's alright then.

welcome to the place which everyone looking for a better place has decided will do in the meantime... (if your friend is an estate agent and you are going to live in ED probably best not mention him)

I think players like Nolan could help calm him down and Allardyce has dealt with plenty of stroppy gits before. Interesting to see if he'll get a game sooner rather than later after Sam's vow to bring in the new blood following the Ipswich fuck-up. Looking forward to seeing Maynard in action as we've needed a striker for a while. I think he could be the dogs.

because Terry isn't a thuggish racist foreigner but a noble Englishman (*irony set to max*)

Seems to me the K has been removed so the govt. can be SEEN to be tackling debt and the causes of debt - which they're not - but in tabloid-speak they are - so we'll all sleep a little safer. Will Sir Ian McKellen lose his if he's in a spectacularly shit play? Or Sir Brucie if he fluffs his gags one more time?

Just paid my first visit to CPT (well, I've only been here five years) to watch Everton-Man City and, at the risk of repeating what regulars have already said, what a good place for a drink. Wonderful wood carving (is it machined repro or original? - either way it works) especially around the doorway to the backrooms/stairs. So much still there including the single dangling gaslight fitting and the layout of porch and two bars is a nice change from the airport-departure-lounge feel of so many knocked-through pubs. It needs a facelift but they shouldn't mess with the basic layout or the original fittings. ?3.30 for a fine pint of Spitfire and a good view of the game seemed reasonable. Having only now discovered the place I would like to return to watch more football and drink more Spitfire before it is turned (if indeed it is) into an ED clone.

Junkies can take, but not sell, drugs, and clean needles are distributed. In all likelihood you will see drug use during your visit, but the police and private security patrols help to keep things under control. The crime rate in these areas is low as it is in the rest of the city. Red Light Frankfurt ...and London's red light district and drug zones are located...?

Say "socio-economic concept" again. Seems clear to me - The DLR and London Overground have accepted there WILL BE added work/stress etc. during the Olympics which is why they have awarded their workers bonuses. Bob Rook is doing his job (as has been discussed elsewhere on the Forum) by trying to get his members the same deal - whether he believes in it or not. The fact that an offer (?100) was made to them demonstrates that LU agree with the idea of a bonus so now it's only wrangling over the amount (c/f the old Churchill gag about sleepping with him for ?5m). And Darren Bent can't run RBS or any bank because to dyslexic spoonerists his name reads as Barren Debt.

So no comments on Sturridge's dive at all then? Have we reached the point where we expect young English players to do this sort of thing if they are to be successful at the highest level?

It's only the fact that this kind of batting collapse in hot climes against spin is the norm for England that stopped me leaping from my armchair shouting "Fix!". (Anyone know what the odds were or how many Abu-Dhabi High-Rollers had a flutter?)
