More of a Toni Basil than a Cheryl Cole. FC - no need to sing, a career in Hollyoaks beckons. Mischa B - I can hear her future now... "Ohhhhhhh, Bodyfo-orm! Bodyform for you-u-u!" This looks like a Brookstein kind of a year.
Just been cleaned out by Dracula and his buddies - I offered the posse a jar with sweets in and some wrapped choc-biscuits little hands darted in and out with the expertise of Rio pick-pockets and left 'promising' to share everything equally. Happy Halloween!
No-drink-vember starts tomorrow (oh, 73 btw) and I think I may take a stab at it. Anyone else? Anyone for temporary exile? An edf sabbatical without the comfort of a hot toddy? We could have a contest - like a tontine but whoever cracks before November 30th loses (loses/wins... nothing but pride in the knowledge one has mastered (a couple of-) one's appetites. Did I say 73? ETA: well you might consider it KT616 if only to give Mick Mack's short-term-memory-loss syndrome time to kick in...
I thought the new routemasters were due to come into service in 2012 ... perhaps there will be an interim period of normal double deckers until then. http://lamodeverte.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/routemaster.jpg?w=450&h=407
After this weekend the idea of No-drink-vember is starting to appeal... I think it might usefully be twinned with a self-imposed temporary forum exile - none of this disappearing and popping up again like Huge and Quids though, the suspense is too much - just a calmly stated intent to forego posting for a fixed period... to see which part of you cracks first.

Or the perils of Whitworth Avenue? Or a mere dalliance near Macbeth's chippy on Acorn Street? As someone raised on this estate I am intrigued (but not offended - I did grow up there)... when and where Citizen?
Will your period of abstinence run alongside a self-imposed forum exile for the same time frame (on the basis that the forum is at its best/bearable and funniest/less irritating with a stiff livener on the inside)? Or will the forum become your substitute for a post-rush hour whisky and splash?
You only really need the pan to be super-hot for the initial browning/sealing, After 30 seconds (so the steak doesn't stick) you can flip it and do 30 secs on the other side then turn down the heat - this will minimise the smoke.

I think he was being ironic. No one could suggest that Stoke need to toughen up. As for Arsenal - I'd rather see them play pretty football than watch them return to the thuggery of Viera and Bergkamp.

He probably decided that - having tried to sell "TV Tables" at ?11.99 all day and heard more "Twelve quid for a bit of plywood!? You're havin' a laugh!" than "Oh look darling, just what we need." - he'd leave it there in the hope that it would arouse comment or interest. Or he's just lazy/stupid.
