  1. I think the whole liquorice comfit versus marshmallow issue is a fraught one and would suggest flying saucers as a follow up to shrimps - this may lead to fruit salads and mojos but that is entirely up to the two of you. good luck.
  2. Virgin have wi-fi internet on trains (free in 1st class) but I think they're the only ones - others like Great Western do not.

    Hippies

I don't think you get it hunkyd. Hippies (real ones) are a little like proto-hippy Jesus and are quite comfortable with the whole "prophets are not without honor except in their own country and in their own house " (Matthew 13:57 cf . Mark 6:4, Luke 4:24) thing. Far from seeking to defend themselves against the revolutionary court they would revel in being persecuted and prosecuted for their lifestyle/beliefs and would declare their feelings of 'peace and love' for their oppressors even as the guillotine sliced into their unwashed necks, leaving the 'righteous' to (eventually... eventually) face up to what they had done, realise it was wrong and indulge in mass wailing and gnashing of teeth... or at least a vague sense that they may have been a bit harsh.
  4. it doesn't look like an eye to me....
  5. Hugely impressive and shows the team's confidence. All the more enjoyable for shutting up the moaners in the commentary box who were dismissive of allowing Bell his century (even remembering what Atherton did to Hick when he was on 98) and thought the declaration too early. A special mention for Boycott who moaned about Trott being 'one paced' and not going after the bowling enough during his double century - this from Boycott of all people, a batsman of one pace if ever there was one, who could bore fans to sleep on his way to a century.

Some Post Offices do offer this service - the P.O. on Lordship Lane is one, I got all my docs verified there for my last passport to avoid having to send original documents through the post.

    Hippies

Hey, Hunkydory, like, what's buggin you ma-a-an? Are you another one who misheard the Billy Bragg song Scholarship Is The Enemy of Romance (sorry Scottish hippies) or are you just having Altamont flashbacks?
  10. oooh I remember chinos... that's a GAP thing isn't it?

It could be worse - you could be imprisoned in the drawing room. I only popped in there for a peek and it took me an hour to shake the 'po-faced glumness' of the place off. *sips alocoholically-improved coffee with a shudder*
  12. Frappe latte so cold it hurts the back of your throat
  13. I would have more of an issue with the way the animal was reared, what it was fed , how it was housed and slaughtered, whether it was hung for long enough and butchered well and how much it made me go mmmmn when I ate it. I would rather eat a cloned animal that was not intensively farmed or had its mass (no matter what speed it was going at H) artificially increased and wasn't fed on the ground-up carcasses of other animals than vice versa.

I think whether someone is a 'langer' or a 'fookin' langer' is the difference between a someone from the south side of Cork and a northsider (a norrie).
  21. Just stay out of the Southwark Tavern and the Wheatsheaf - well known crocheter's boozers and the punters are always 'hooked up'.
  22. 35 for 0 on a flat lifeless wicket with no movement - a long hard slog for England's bowlers looks likely - epitomised by fact of GB saying he would have loved a wicket like this one so he could settle in for a long innings. Poor crowd - 1st home test for Ashes winning side and only 6,000 or so in the ground. Is it the opposition? The ground?
  23. First proper rain delay of the season nothing now until 3.30pm! - it really is summer!! Sri lanka won toss and will bat, meanwhile (complaining about the stadium and saying they should be playing at the Millenium stadium instead of the SWALEC so they could close the roof) Alec Stewart is talking about the wind whistling through his helmet again.
