Ah, the perils of which mixer to use to avoid pretension - unhappily this dilemma extends to garnish also. I'm often stumped when, having added a dash of Cawston Press Elderflower Lemonade to my Grey Goose, I am confronted with both kumquat and limequat - greedily I often plump for a little of both however gaudy the result.

Yes but that bloody patronising French-muck name tho.. What does it mean?! Pret - is that French for bread? Or does Pret-a mean Pretty Bread - and is that like Pitta Bread? And is it the same Manger that little baby Jesu was borne away in? So it would be like a bread basket you take away? Oh, it's a minefield.

Roadworks in Lordship Lane at end of North Cross Road

civilservant Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > i see today that the bus stop has finally > re-opened Indeed - and that whole stretch of pavement that was first closed back in early June, from the corner of Shawbury Road to the tree outside William Hills has undergone absolutely NO significant change. It has not been widened, narrowed, raised, lowered or had anything added. It has been 'redone' - a pointless and expensive exercise given that it is not the bit of the pavement pedestrians actually traverse (blocked as it is by litter bins, cycle racks, trees, lamp posts, the bus stop etc.) No, THAT part of the pavement (used by hundreds of people every day) is still pitted, cracked, uneven and ugly. A three month closure of road and bus stop just so the rarely-seen Conway staff had somewhere to put their loo and shelter from the rain. -
Up a meagre 2 points to 30 ... until my (correct) 2-1 win against ManC came in ... :)

AqM - maybe we do need a separate FF thread (if only to annoy the non-football types "Three threads on this stupid game! Three!!! Yet when I want to post about the new post office....!") - give it a whirl?

RD & Doc you are priceless - I sometimes wonder if BFS isn't working doc from behind. We could argue til the cows come home or just agree that to some people BFS is a fine ol' manager - -an ideal pragmatist who doesn't bend like a straw in the wind to any poncy ideas of attractive football; -nor does he waste his time indulging in cup competitions when the odds are that his team won't win; -or seek to climb a league to heights his team has no business aspiring to when maintaining mid table will still put bread on't table, -or allow himself to be distracted by fans (bloody nuisance) who crave something attractive to watch, something (dare they say it) to occasionally lift their tired hearts and make them gurgle with joy, -rather he is a grafter; an underrated toiler at football's coalface, a masterful inspirational figure, a brilliant God of a manager and any club would be lucky to have him. To others he is a cnt.

Anyone avoiding Lidl on that basis would do best to dodge Amazon and Ryan Air and a whole bunch of others - the big difference in today's Lidl as opposed to yesterday's Kwik Save is the quality of its own-brand stuff. Sainsburys and Tescos et al have got away with making 3rd rate crap versions of brand leaders for years and charging the earth for the 'real thing'.

Well it's only the presence of ER, gawd save 'er, stops the whole country being led and run by Chas & Dave innit?

The argument over which cut is best/tastiest can be misleading as it will depend more on the quality of the beef and the time it is hung for. I'd rather have a cheap cut that has been hung for 28 days than an expensive cut from an animal that is slaughtered and sold within the week.

Ah Tiffanys, (formerly The Locarno complete with Hawaian themed bar The Bali Hai) - I was at that gig too. Great night.

I have ManU down for a 2:0 win... so with my record your lot are bound to do the biz Ot.

d) This is a big city and this kind of thing happens all over said city (Google it) and it's only temporary after all and an inconvenience, I know, but if we had blocked light into a window and you had paid to have a series of mirrors rigged to get back that light I don't think you'd expect us to pay for it - you'd probably just moan and put up with it and wait for the scaff to come down and normality to be resumesd - like thousands of Londoners have done with scaffolding (for many may reaons) in the past and like they will do in the future. It IS a pain but really - that's life in town, kid.

Do they still have 'Dollar Shops'? On the streets I remember we were offered lots of those crappy 'Intur' tourist Pesos for a single dollar, and offered not just cigars (by every passing kid on the street) but some kind of anti-cholesterol medicine that the Americans used to take home by the bucketload. The street lights used to go out a lot too but what a great place to visit.

Went back in 1993 - would agree with Havana and Trinidad but avoid Varadero - you can get everything that offers elsewhere. We did it as a 2-country thing and went to Mexico and flew from there (plenty of breaks on offer) but it's a while ago.

What club would want him now he's shown how he behaves when he doesn't get his way - "with Berahino not in a state of mind to play and not one of the more popular figures among team-mates" cue cries of "But he's young and misunderstood and passionate and he only wants to play and he loves the fans and..." - whiney little f&cker.

???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Very, very happy with our action today... > > ...careful what you wish for etc Yep - pretty satisfied with the deals - thought Spurs might try and nip in for Moses but I suppose they were busy elsewhere - guessing Bilic knows how to get best out of Jelavic. Dodged a bullet with Adebayor too.

That's the dog's bollocks. Been waiting since I as a kid for a win at Anfield - remember a great 1-1 there in mid 70s when Keith Robson scored and Smith equalised and Mervyn Day played a blinder for us to get the draw. Doesn't matter (to me anyway) that this isn't the Pool of old - we buried 'em. Home form is down to nerves and the headless chicken panic when they feel the crowd on their backs. But with Nolan finally out of the way I think things will gel.
