Michael, Michael, she's gone... get over it man, sheesh.

Top this week, bottom last week (and I didn't just forget then like EP) - I am an enigma, wrapped in a puzzle, wrapped in bacon.

I know locals who read but don't post on the forum - not because they think people might be 'nasty' or that they fear being bullied - but because they can't be arsed. They usually air their opinions/vent the odd spleen on other social media where they are certain to be read by friends &/or colleagues rather than anonymous strangers. When I first started posting I was suspected of being someone else and of being a 'bot' (it was an odd day) and over time I sometimes found the "things were better in the early days" a little tiresome and have had little spats with some of the regulars/old-timers but they never lasted long (the spats)*. I think any real bullying is likely to be spotted and condemned - even the most troll-like posters (Udt) have had their defenders - and while it may sometimes feel, to a new poster, like walking into the (fictional) Slaughtered Lamb it can be diverting, amusing, and sometimes not at all dull. *Still never posted in the Family Room though - that's another ballgame.

Did you lose your deposit?

Hate diving and simulation of any kind and thought I could occupy the moral high ground after Barkley's antics but Tomkins is a feckin disgrace. Big fine AND a public apology - the least I expect.

Such a shame because I used to > love the old fashioned style Italian restaurants, > which have all gone now. > > Louisa. I think your (obviously intended) parody might be helped by using phrases like "When I were a lass" and "back in the good old days" and then maybe you can link it to some image of foxy strolling down LL like Dick van Dyke with all the merry shopkeeps hailing him from their doorways and bidding him good morrow as smiling foxes gambol in his wake. No? -

I think Gammon counts as long as it's not too thick and salty - and that benefits from a good bacon iron too - no need to snip the edges. Now a bacon chop - that's a horse of a different kidney.

It was the WH flag that really irked wasn't it?
-
I like collar bacon when i can get it, grilled slowly so the fat renders off (great for fried bread or the start of a leek and potato soup), otherwise I'm in the streaky camp too. Bought a bacon iron a while back for when I want the whole flat-crispy-bacon thing
-
of course i did watch it (after I had seen what they were going to do with all that lamb on Masterchef - Boning and rolling that shoulder!... it was NEVER going to cook on time) and was pleasantly surprised. Loved the hustle and the confidence - always hassling the Scots and seeming to have lost that nervousness that has typified England. They wanted it more than the opposition. This could be the starting line up for any game - regardless - dawn of a new era etc. no players with the old Billy-big-bollox attitude (even Wellbeck and Rooney seem to be playing with the team rather than for themselves) and some great young potential. Shame the opposition wasn't up to much.
-
I'm a bit meh about it too - only the Scots really care if they win. Even back in '96 the defeat of Scotland wasn't as satisfying as the thrashing of Holland.

Not sure I'd be too worried about a kid missing out on a group where one of the leader/helper(s) has such a whacky nom-de-forum.

Stand the toaster on end and slide cheese-on-toast in!
-
Used to go to a market stall that, as well as doing dripping on toast, served what they called American Toast - mashed up tinned tomatoes with bacon fat added (they kept it bubbling on a stove and added more toms and bacon grease as and when it got grilled - kind of a never ending stockpot) spread on toast then overlaid with sliced cheddar and grilled. That with a mug of Oxo.

MrBen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "Useless oven settings"??.an exciting new thread > coming your way soon people. Mine goes up to 11. On the 'inexpensive for "around here" argument it's nice to see a business (FM) open that doesn't put its prices up (compared to other venues) just because it is on LL. Off topic(-ish, but as this thread says Draft House not really) but as an illustration, the bread at Boulangerie Jade on LL is more expensive than the same loaf from BJ on Barry Rd.

And I don't blame you if you're Scottish for not liking the English Premier League. Maybe if Mr Ashley has his way the SPL may benefit from a little bloating in the future. Until then there's always Gordon's Tartan Army eh?
