Can't understand Swans not starting with Bony -- lots of posession and no edge just waiting to get mullahed by a ManU counter. Impressively comfortable win at Boleyn (without Carroll too) - particularly in that the Taffs didn't get a single shot on target. ETA: maybe gooners were confused by the new villa kit - expect headlines re Wenger being 'checkmated' etc.

Now that was a proper club - when it was The Harp - money taken on the door on a Sunday night by two old Irish geezers, Dan Dare on the turntables and taking refuge on the balcony when knackered.
  4. Nope - I'm with quids on this one, a bar is not a pub - mind you neither was the swan - it was a feckin boozer. Even on a 'best pubs etc.' thread it would only rank in the 'mistakes I have made' category.
  5. Talking of West End basement bars - in the worst bars etc. etc. category: the San Moritz Club, nominated for a terrible New Year's Eve in the mid 80s - four of us getting drunk on a pear liquer at the bar (no, I can't remember why) and watching three girls dance around a squat, fat, indoor firework - when it went off 'gifts' of boxer shorts and the like flopped out of it. For a sweaty basement night The (tiny) Toucan used to be a laugh - all guinness-glass stools and the barman telling you how Hendrix once played the place.

  7. Trader Vic's downstairs at the Hilton (a good while ago now though) - a kitsch-kontiki paradise of brain-destroying cocktails, international 'business' gents and ladies of the night.

Rooney spotted the camera on him in the tunnel and it looked like he hid behind Hart ha haaa... Hope there's some needle tonight - the only thing that might wake this England side up.

Quagliarella on loan would do a job - but I think we're safe too - more I think we'll be top ten again. Is it prediction time again yet? Chelsea for the title, Mans U&C next, then a three-way fight between Spurs, Gooners & Liverpool - so far so predictable but I fancy Swansea as an e/w bet. Palace, Hull, Norwich to go down.
  11. If I don't do it now I'll probably forget as it's no longer necessary so... Saturday 17th August 2013 Liverpool 2 V 0 Stoke Arsenal 3 V 0 Aston Villa Norwich 1 V 2 Everton Sunderland 2 V 1 Fulham Swansea 3 V 2 Man Utd West Brom 0 V 1 Southampton West Ham 2 V 0 Cardiff Sunday 18th August 2013 Crystal Palace 1 V 3 Tottenham Chelsea 4 V 0 Hull Monday 19th August 2013 Man City 3 V 0 Newcastle Wednesday 21st August 2013 Chelsea 3 v 0 A Villa
  12. I'm sure those with big scores will be flaunting their acumen before long and posting predictions on here - - and I think I could happily post mine without anyone indulging in skullduggery unless it was of the "if maxxi's going for a home win it's an away banker" kind.

I'd have preferred to see Parker back as this looks like all-eggs-in-one-basket footy relying on an injury prone target man. Agree Morrison looks 'promising pre season' but - said that before about so many it seems. Wonder if Fabio Quagliarella deal is still in the offing?

I did catch some of this late the other night with a desperately gurning J Ross and Katherine thingy - I.., it was... no. No words really do fail me.
  16. great stuff - wonderful test. looking forward to the Oval especially as England, according to TMS, have never won 4 tests in an ashes series.
  17. Batting collapse - so good to hear those words without wincing.
  18. was feeling the same but now Warner and Clarke gone... the beauty of a test match, looks like going one way for ages, then out of the blue (and not long after England had wasted their last DRS challenge) it's on again.

  20. Opposite the locksmiths, the old photographic/print shop next to Kaival's newsagent is still empty (despite signs saying it has been let) and soup dragon (as was) is host to yet another pop-up shop full of tat so shop premises on this part of LL hardly at a premium - unless greedy bastard landlords are holding out for the Poundland money?* *The locksmith premises letting includes garages at the rear so Poundland could be on the way.
  21. wait til Christmas when they get the kerr pinks in.

    Breaking Bad

I am avoiding the spoiler thread as I have still to progress from series two/three when I lost a bit of interest - judging by the recent press as well as the forum I guess I'll give it another go.
  25. I spent a summer trading info with a californian - he'd explain the curve ball and the designated hitter rule and I'd explain the googly and the 12th man.
