  1. I think the retention of the 'maxxi' may be the only chance I have of my name being associated with scoring 5 points on a regular basis (beaten Euro finalist notwithstanding)

More part of the ambience, like hot dogs and beer in baseball, it helps with the gradual learning-through-osmosis which works best with cricket. Two or three tests and you'll be howling with rage when the fielding skipper sets a silly point and a backward square leg but only has two men in the slips* and no gully. *you might also become part of the debate concerning the reintroduction of a leg slip (although that may prove to have been a fad).

The idea of a game taking 5 > days to complete, that's really something, isn't > it? And to have that end in a draw no less. Can seem a little daft - like when two baseball teams play each other four days in a row and win two each. ETA: take some time to tune into TMS on BBC Radio5 Live Sports Extra http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/tms/6104978.stm - even if you are still befuddled you'll learn a lot about cake. Oh, and possibly pigeons.
  4. Glad to hear it Charlie - and don't forget to ask Ivor about getting in a still cider.
  5. Goose Green/Adys Rd. mural - like something painted on remand.

My fave is the in-many-instances-cheaper-than-the-poundshops-when-you-add-it-up 'Savers - Health Home & Beauty' and their mobile air conditioning units that the inevitable queue jostles to stand in front of. It's the new Franks.
  7. Interesting listening to Simon Hughes explaining why hot-spot doesn't always work - and that some batsmen may be coating their edges with substances designed to prevent it registering. Before this series I was pro the DRS and agreed with criticism of the Indians for not using it - not so sure now; if it aint 100% accurate then what's the point? The DRS has become just like the umpires-only decisions of old - bad decisions and mistakes which even themselves out (one hopes) over the course of a test.

Cripes, Swansea looked pretty good. Bony and Pozuelo(?) look good buys - think they could upset a few of the big boys this season
  9. Spurs fans should just hope Levy doesn't indulge in the kind of usual brinkmanship that would mean Bale going near deadline day and a scramble to get new players in. Would love to see Parker back at Upton park - is that deal dead yet?

  17. Rex - for the inevitable tautonymic symmetry and the fact that until he's crowned he'll sound like two dogs.
  18. The way I read it that just lets him talk to clubs - Liverpool don't have to sell. Though as he's banned for 6 games anyway and bound to sulk being out of the CL (and probably go even crazier) I think J Henry should bite their hand off (oops).
  19. Wasted both now. Hughes' was real knee-jerk territory
  20. Disappointed the move for Duvan Zapata didn't pan out - was looking forward to wearing this to UP next season http://www.adena.co.nz/theatre/products/makeup/hair/rubies/moustaches/zapata.gif Loic Remy anyone..?
  21. It's under 'forthcoming events' (as it's an 'Over 40s' team I suppose); Wednesday July 24th Over 40?s XI v Sydney (Australia) Cricket Ground XI http://www.dulwichcc.com/?page_id=83 eta: It's on the fixtures for the Midweek XI, play starts 12.00.

You weren't imagining it - Tuffers was talking with one of the Aussie commentators (forget which) about the Sydney Cricket Ground XI's tour of England which ends playing the MCC at Lords - Dulwich is one of the clubs they are playing (24th July). http://www.sydneycricketground.com.au/latest-news/scg-xi-undertakes-dream-england-cricket-tour/
