  1. Surely it's better to have events like this on the common where the fairs and circus set up. Easier access for vehicles, closer to transport links and leaves that section of the park free for people to enjoy it as a park?

So maybe it'll be repaired in time for it to be ruined again.
  3. Would be better if the event were held on the common. Despite promises last year the damage to the grass was never put right.
  4. We've had a basic Miele for 10 years. Brilliant hoover. Wouldn't touch Dyson crap with a barge pole. Junk.
  5. My shower had slightly low pressure. I shall be suing for all they are worth.
  6. There was a sketch in Horrible Histories about the opening of Westminster School that made me laugh. 'Is there an entrance exam?' 'Yes. We examine your bank account and if there's enough in it, you're in'.
  7. Also returning an Amazon Prime is a nightmare. You have to take it back to the delivery office!
  8. I spoke to our poor postie this morning. He said they're really under the cosh with the extra pressure of lugging all the post over from Peckham. I said we're behind the foot soldiers and writing to MPs etc. Not sure good it's doing.

  11. Just as an aside, when I was at St John's and St Clement's in the 70's I spent two years at the Epiphany Hall and those garages were our playground.
  12. As a cycle commuter I do anything to avoid Rye Lane anyway.
  13. Maybe everyone in ED should post themselves a box too big for their letterboxes just to screw the system even more?
  14. We had a garden clearout last week and all the paper sacks were taken.
  15. Anybody heard from Helen Hayes?

But I wouldn't hold up Greece as a utopian example.
  17. Yes I guess there are wider implications. The problem I have with social media debate is that people (and I'm going to do some serious metaphor mixing) will jump on any bandwagon to grind their own axes, probably with chips on the their shoulders. It strikes (no pun intended) me that there are far bigger offenders than the Ivy House out there. So while there are still discussions going on between the two sides I just think it's best not to speculate in public as we don't all know the facts.. And for that reason I'm out.
  18. To be honest the dispute between the staff and management at the pub is really between themselves to resolve and not up for public debate. The only update I want from the pub is when it'll be open again.

  20. I wrote to Helen Hayes and Harriet Harman a week ago. No response or acknowledgement from either. It is Labour conference week so they may be extra busy. But I hope they get on with something soon. alex_b Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > DulwichSal Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > > > I have written twice to Helen Hayes... no reply > as > > yet > > She probably hasn?t received them yet ;)
  21. It's an awkward shape. Poor old Potager couldn't really display their wares (which were good).
  22. I found the selection process very suspicious. Anyway good luck. All the kids I know who left Y6 seem reasonably happy wherever they've ended up. Although one girl (at a girl's only school) is missing the boys larking about.
