  1. People like this would have voted Trump, and will be applauding everything he's doing. There are quite a few of them in parts of America. Scary place (in parts). http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p049v0dm

    Morning fag

Yeah most markets have pubs close by that open at stupid o clock in the morning. The Market Porter by Borough Market has the following opening hours Monday to Friday: 6am - 8:30am & 11am to 11pm Saturday: 12noon - 11pm Sunday: 12noon - 10:30pm

    Morning fag

Once upon a time (seriously years back) I'd wake up and reach for fags before I'd managed to open my eyes. I'd spark up and have one in bed. In 2003/04 I shared a flat which became something of a party house. My bedroom was off the living room, and although I'd smoked loads the previous night, I used to feel sick as I walked out of my room and found my flatmates smoking in the living room first thing in the morning. These days the smell of fag smoke makes me feel ill if I am not the smoker (yes I know that's pretty hypocritical). If at home I smoke on the balcony of an evening. If in the pub I still smoke like a chimney (though don't get to the pub often enough for this to be too big a problem). But yeah I'm with you Steveo. The morning fag has zero appeal to me. On the very very rare occasions that I think it's a good idea, I always regret it instantly.
  4. Yep, I only saw it for the first time a couple of years ago, and I was struck by how relevant it seemed.

And saying "No drumstick!" is perfectly exceptable. It's the "Oi boss, boss, give an extra wing with that yeah?" As I say, that is acceptable behaviour in many a chicken shop, but not KFC. You don't see people demanding an extra nugget in Maccas.
  6. People haggling in KFC. P!ss off back to Chicken Cottage if you want an extra wing!
  7. I forgot again. So I'm basically giving up the chase to get out of relegation trouble.

  9. Wish I could have been there. Seen the equaliser on a facebook video, cracking goal!

If 12 o clock is centre, 3 o clock is right wing, 9 o clock is left wing... The nutters from both sides meet at 6 o clock.
  12. Ooo, podcast version for those that would rather listen than read. https://www.theguardian.com/news/audio/2016/nov/25/the-ruthlessly-effective-rebranding-of-europes-new-far-right-podcast
  13. This bit "Brexit was just the start. Europe?s new far right is poised to transform the continent?s political landscape ? either by winning elections or simply by pulling a besieged political centre so far in its direction that its ideas become the new normal. And when that happens, groups that would never have contemplated voting for a far-right party 10 years ago ? the young, gay people, Jews, feminists ? may join the working-class voters who have already abandoned parties of the left to become the new backbone of the populist right." The bit in bold is how I feel things have been going in this country in recent times. The government seem to have left the centre behind them, and if you're centre left, you're labelled a "lefty loony" as if you're a far left nutcase.
  14. Sorry, yes. Probably should have given some idea of what it was about.
  15. Stumbled across this from 3 months ago. It's a long one, and it's quite depressing. But interesting. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/nov/01/the-ruthlessly-effective-rebranding-of-europes-new-far-right?CMP=share_btn_fb

Paul Golding (Britain Frist mayoral candidate) turned his back when the Muslim candidate Sidiq Khan won last year. Both were gestures of protest. Both were a pathetic. Both should just be ignored and forgotten. Nothing left wing about that, this whole thread has just given her gesture more publicity years later, and seems entirely counterproductive.
  17. All this thread has achieved is to remind me of the existence of Salma Yaqoob.
  18. I got in to a discussion with a self described "far right" man the other day. He's quite positive on eastern Europeans, because apparently they are "heading up the far right movement". Although he is very much pro brexit, his main target is African and Middle Eastern Muslims. And it was quite striking how open he now feels he can be about it all.
  19. So this is an interesting development. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/david-davis-migrants-brexit-workers-eu-uk-stay-open-immigration-years-latest-a7592616.html The Sun not happy about it. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/2923654/david-davis-promises-eastern-europe-uks-doors-will-stay-open-to-low-skilled-migrants/ "Millionaire Ukip donor Arron Banks told the paper that the Brexit minister?s comments were ?quite astonishing?. He added: ?If you look at the figures, most people who voted for Brexit did so because of immigration and are going to ask what the point of it was if we don?t even control our own borders. ?They are going to be very disappointed." Quite right Arron, what was the feckin point of it?
  20. I am not sure. I think most secretaries at Guys & Tommy's are NHS staff.

Yes, exactly. We would expect MPs to bring their ethics. Ethics are often based in self interest to some extent. I don't work out how I'll be best off in order to choose my vote. But I vote on what I think will be best for everyone. And I do that in the knowledge that loads of people disagree with me. That's a form of self interest.
  22. People only ever talk about frontline staff (who I agree we need, and ideally more of). But often forget the medical secretaries behind the scenes. Without these people, clinics simply don't happen. Letters don't get sent, appointments don't get booked. They are being put upon with ever increasing workloads, and a lot feel they are at breaking point. I totally agree, there are savings to be made, but staffing budgets need to not only be protected, but ideally increased. And that needs to include non medical staff, because they can be just as important to the running of a hospital.
  23. How many of you can honestly say you vote for purely altruistic reasons? The majority of us are self interested to some extent, why expect MPs to be different?
  24. Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So, doctors and nurses paid for by the British > taxpayer, to look after an increasing number of > immigrant patients? The "British taxpayer" includes immigrants. And there will be a hell of a lot more non tax paying Brits than immigrants using the NHS.
