  2. Can't stand the idea of a nanny state, except when they're doing what I want. Totally agree with Jeremy, in that if I was sat somewhere and someone came and lit up next to my kids I'd ask them to move away. But if I arrive at a pub with my kids and there's someone smoking at an outside table I would sit elsewhere, and I wouldn't dream of asking them to stop.
  3. Agree with robbin about authenticity. People often say about curry places "it's nothing like the real stuff you get in India". So what? I'm not in India, I'm in this curry house and I'm enjoying the food. I enjoy authentic Mexican food. Doesn't mean I can't also enjoy a Tex Mex.
  4. If a smoker is in situ outside a pub, and a family decide to park themselves next to said smoker, then they have no right to expect the smoker to not smoke.

I just admire her response to the personal abuse she's been getting.
  6. I've been watching this thread for updates too. What a total bastard, you did a good deed and he's totally screwed you over. Never trust a ginger bloke!

Still a lot of fun I think I was there as a young teenager. Or maybe year after. Don't remember much.
  10. Fell asleep at half time. Was relieved to see the schore this morning.
  11. And the sun did come up over East Dulwich on the 28th June. And the middle classes did awaken from their slumber and look out of their windows. And they did see that Iceland was gone. And they did rejoice.
  12. I know that I SHOULD be able to separate Florence's music and talent (which she has a lot of) from the wealthy girl that never had to live on nothing whilst chasing her dream. But I can't, and I find the whole (and this isn't just her) middle class hippy thing really grating.
  13. Nah, it was funny. What's happening in Greece isn't funny for the people living there, but a joke about a stall in East Dulwich really shouldn't be taken too seriously.
  14. Problem is that most pubs are very food orientated these days, so people go for lunch and take the kids. Whereas it used to be that you'd go to the pub to drink and watch football or just talk shit to your mates for a while, so people didn't tend to take kids in very often. I adore my two kids, but I HATE taking them to pubs, it just ruins the experience of being in the pub for me. With the exception of whe4n my 6 year old comes for a pint (me not her) after a Dulwich Hamlet match, because the crowd I go with always dote on her so I can sneak off for a fag and know she's in safe hands.

Can't believe Tevez has gone back to Boca Juniors in Argentina. I'd been quietly hoping Liverpool might get their hands on him.
  16. And foxy, I say this as a forum friend. If you ever wonder why people say you're negative / glass half empty, just read your post below. 17. DHFC Has a good cheap bar which can't handle the numbers, and most people leave straight after the match to head for a pub, often to watch the 5:30 kick of on telly. This is why I think this could take advantage of that. If I end up in the EDT it's because there's no other option. If this offers another option I shall certainly try it.
  18. Yeah it does get very quiet at weekends. Probably because a lot of regulars have young kids to be dealing with.
  19. Needs more guitar solos.
  20. I'm not overly keen.

  22. Later tonight "Lemmy The Movie" is on. It's quite an interesting look at the guy. He's a nutter, but sort of loveable.

Some old friends of mine sold their family home on Penderry Rise this year and moved down to Margate. They sold to a professional couple (think he was a solicitor) and were very happy with what they got for it. It will happen. Also there's St Dunstan's School which may be an attr4action for ambitious parents.
