Wasn't trying to get at you or anyone mate, just remember my mid 20s when I was going through a bit of a miserablist era, I hated Christmas. But no one should feel guilty for enjoying Christmas, it's not their fault that others don't.

I'm working up to Christmas Eve but then off til Monday 5th and only had to use one day of leave. Although that's a bit false because we get less leave in order to cover the enforced Christmas close down.

Basically it's about the kids innit. Not that long ago my opinion of Christmas was "it's a time of year when lonely people feel even lonlier". And I still think that's true. Some poor sod threw himself in front of a train at Penge East station this morning, which kind of reminds you that not everyone is full of festive cheer. But when you see how excited the kids get it's hard not to smile and enjoy it, even for a grumpy fucker like myself.

I too am excited about Christmas this year. Taking the kids to stay at my parents on Christmas eve so we can all have Christmas morning together, then up to my sisters for dinner, then home in the evening and hopefully some child free time sat on the sofa drinking and eating a load of crap. Have spent Waaaaaaaay too much opn presents this year, but I absolutely love giving people presents, and I can't wait to see the girl's faces when they open their Frozen ice palace.
  5. To be fair to Khan, Mayweather was stupid to do that public vote on who he should fight, then do the opposite. You can see why Khan probably feels he's owed a shot at the big man.
  6. Sounds like Khan was impressive, and predictably he immediately calls out Mayweather. I would totally give him all the credit in the world if he fought and beat Mayweather, but I'm not sure Mayweather fancies the fight (maybe not a big enough draw for him),and I can't see Khan troubling him really.
  7. Come on Liverpool, get a late consolation and I've got 3 points.
  8. Same here I think.
  9. http://www.timelessmyths.co.uk/saulting-magpies.html My wife always does the salute. I don't tread on all three of those triple manhole type things. No.idea where that started, but to this day I still don't do it.
  10. But you've just given me the perfect gift idea, cheers Alan!
  11. I don't always like what Billy Bragg says, but thought he was spot on about this. "BBC Question Time was more like a panto than a sensible discussion last night and I don't think any of the participants came over very well, not even Dimbleby. The low point for me was when the guy in the audience told Russell Brand to either stand for election or shut up about inequality. That's a classic tactic for closing down debate and I was disappointed that Brand didn't respond by telling him that politics is far too important to be left to politicians"
  12. Aquarius Moon, for being a little ray of sunshine ;-)
  13. The whole Haye thing was a bit sad really. I do believe that he was hampered against Wlad, because say what you will about him, he was no coward, and that fight just looked like he couldn't really go for it. Then it all just ended in a bit of a fart. I think he's still officially active, but doubt we'll see him back in the ring. And yes, I think he'd have beaten Fury.
  14. To be fair to Brand, QT has often thrown a half intelligent celeb in to the mix. I remember seeing Will Young on there once and he spoke pretty well. Brand may have been better off being introduced as "comedian" rather than "comedian and campaigner" because other than that housing estate, he hasn't really campaigned about anything specific.

I liked it quite early on when RB started talking over the Tory woman, only for the Labour woman to put him down saying something along the lines of "a lot of women don't like to be shouted down". He was silent for quite a bit after that. Camilla Cavendish did very well because she times her bits well and came across as the grown up voice of reason. Well played.
  17. I won't shed any tears if he does, but think he could surprise you. Even Chisora didn't do too bad against a Klitschko.

Spurs and Liverpool have both gone backwards this season. Liverpool perhaps more understandably, losing Suarez and having new players. I thought Spurs might come on a bit this year.
  19. I thought RB had a real opportunity to argue Farrage down last night, and he threw it away with his over simplified preachy shite. Even if he did make some good points.

I don't get it... No joke. Back around 2001 I spent a lot of time around Guildford (a lot of it with a white cane and a blindfold) and decided that it was a town with shed load of young people, but young people with money. I decided a p[ancake cafe would do well.
  21. I think Fury is a total moron, but I actually do rate him. Twice (including against Chisora) he's switched to southpaw just for the hell of it. That has to take some talent.
  22. I reckon Fury might take Wlad. Pac-Man Mayweather is of course the one that keeps getting talked about, but I've kind of given up hoping for it because it should have happened 4 years ago and now it just feels like Pac-Man may have left it too late.

I always wanted to open a pancake cafe in Guildford, but I'm not big on risks.
  24. But Hamed did the cockiness so well, he played the part and people wanted to see him get smacked in the face, which is why he was such a good draw. Eubank too. Mayweather is the current master of that, people pay to see him because a lot of them want to see him knocked off his perch. But Hamed / Eubank / Mayweather are all great showmen and that's what it's all about really. Khan has just never been able to get over to the public.
  25. It's not about the charity's online presentation, it's about the people flogging the trees getting the web address correct and the name of the charity. You can't blame someone for being suspeicious if they note down a web address and it turns out to not work. And telling someone to "oh be quiet" is just rude.
