Haha, like it. Lots of people laying some blame at Ferie's feet on BBC Website, saying he knew what was coming and did nothing to plan for the future, just bought RVP in to win one last league for himself so he could cover himself in glory and sell his latest book. Obviously no one will ever know what went through his mind, but I suspect there is at least some level of truth to that.

Of course Fergie's opinion should have been sought, and as RD says, they should have had a shortlist. Instead they told the world "SAF has picked his replacement". Error, because it means that Fergie's rep is slightly tarnished if they sack Moyes. If they'd kept that a bit quiet, he'd probably be gone already. But as I've said before, I hope he does get some time and money to have a real go at it. RD Said "Yes, but what is Moyes' image? 8 months on and I still haven't got a scooby" And there, ladies and gents, is the root of the problem. Does he even know what he actually wants from a team?

This reminded me of a funny story a few years ago when lots of tourists were getting lost in Paris trying to follow the route described the Da Vinci Code between the Louvre and the American Embassy. The book has it completely wrong.

Just can't actually see him being sacked. Man U's biggest mistake was letting Fergie pick his own replacement. Great as he may have been, they should have said "thanks and here's a nice role for you", but letting him pick his replacement has put them in a really difficult situation.

What a difference a few years away makes. During his first spell Mourinho charmed a lot of popel, me included, I found him funny. That has completely gone now, he's just a whinging spoilt brat these days. And his "mind games" are always personal, which I think is just shit.

Yeah I'll go along with that (especially if we remove the word "city" ;-) )

Absolutely, I must admit that I'd not read Burbage's post having lost the will to live before getting there. I've now read it, and it's a brilliant post.

Certainly not the best warm up for Man City coming to yours this weekend! Just been looking at the remaining fixtures for the season. Not sure I can see many potential banana skins for Chelsea other than (hopefully) their trip to Anfield. City (as well as Arsenal this weekend) have to go to both Liverpool and Everton, other than those I can't see them dropping any points. I think Liverpool are in with a shout, but they basically need to win every game thwey have left, possibly draws with Chelsea / City, but not sure that would be enough.

Moyes has come out and taken responsibility for Man U's decline. Shielding his players I guess. I think he knows that he is going to be given time, so I think the fans need to accept he'll be there at least another year. Why the hell diod he bring a whole new coaching staff in with him?!?!?!? (and an unproven coaching staff at that)
  11. bornagain Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is it just me but I find all this school is a real drag, why can't we take term time holidays a bit over-entitled? I've got no intention of taking a term time holiday. I can't afford a holiday. But if a school told me that one of my children needed to be in one day, but that my other child couldn't come in due to strike action, I'd find that unacceptable and hope that the school would be able to appreciate the difficulties that would cause. I work in education and am well aware of the expectations put on schools, but I think the genuinely good schools are the ones where they put the child first and their stats second.
  12. How can you speak for all schools? Some have common sense engaged, some don't.
  13. This thread is about the best I've ever seen on here in terms of showing the element of ED that has changed for the worse in the past few years.

Unbelievably, BBC don't seem to have a midweek MOTD tonight or tomorrow! That's shit, I can't afford the pub.

I reckon it's been a fair few moons since so many people have been hoping Manchester United can get a result! Come on red devils, do it for your beloved neighbours Liverpool! ;-)
  16. Yeah, they were defo not good for narrow roads, but going down Old Kent Road and through New Cross / Deptford they were great.

A good piece about the psychology of footy fans getting used to winning / losing http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26704856
  18. But having said all that, yes it's a pain. And yes it makes you want to send a rude letter to the school who make out that being a few minutes late in the morning is going to ruin your child's whole education. And if I was in a position like Pickle and Mellors I'd keep both kids home and tell the school where they could stick it if they had a problem with that.
  19. For those who are inconvenienced by the strike, you have my sympathy. But to look at it from the point of view of the union, you could argue that by inconveniencing as many people as possible, they may have a better chance of getting what they want by threatening future strikes. If they give everyone loads of notice it would be only a minor inconvenience, largely painless, so not much of a threat. Bob Crow more often than not got what he was fighting for for the RMT because their strikes actually caused major disruption. These teachers all being in different unions means that their strikes are not coordinated, and basically won't get much done. If all the medical secreatarys in the country went out on strike one day, the hospitals wouldn't close, they'd just come in the next day to an even bigger mountain of work, Joe Public wouldn't even notice. A strike needs to cause as much disruption as possible if it's going to be worth doing.
  20. I just think that the majority of TFL fare payers, who's fares keep going up to pay for this stuff, will never use one if these "luxuries" and wonder what benefit they will ever get. To be honest I couldn't care less if I'm on a bus that tou might find in Reading so long as it gets ne where I'm going at a competitive rate. I don't want to sound like a kill joy, I grew up catching the 12 and 36 routemasters every day and was really sorry to see them go, but I just don't think this new fleet of buses is a good use if money, and if the back isn't always open I am completely indifferent to them.
  21. Fair play if ?300k is going rate, just seems obscene.

The point is the ref acted on the incident so as I understand it they can't take retrospective action. And intent is hard to prove. But most of all it was such a monumental fuck up that I imagine they just want it forgotten.
  24. RE Staff, I think it is largely luck of the draw. My wife was happier with the staff at Kings, they seemed friendlier and just more reassuring. At Tommy's we had this very young and excitable Australian. Very nice and all that, but I think my wife wanted to punch her when she was being all positive. I think the long and the short of it is that everyone wants something different, and an annoying midwife to one person will be exactly what another person wants to reassure them. Also, my wife chose Tommy's first time round because she works there and it was convenient for appointments. Going up there for each appointment would have been a pain in the arse.

Agree, BUT he didn't block a goalward bound shot, even if he intended too.
