This is an argument you see all over the place, and from where I'm sitting you're both basically right. One side is not mutually exclusive to the other. The whole western world suddenly went "oh shit", and realised that things were very wrong, largely due to the greed in the financial sector. The current gov trying to pin all that on Labour is ridiculous (although they have a lot of people buying it). BUT, Labour did basically forget to save for a rainy day and spent too much and run up too much debt. But health and education are the two areas where you can never spend enough IMO. That's how I see it anyway.

Ah, so we're not talking about the ability to do it, but being willing to. That's quite different.

Agree, I was not having a dig, I have a lot of respect for Wenger. But I don't know how you can guarantee that no other manager could have done the same.

It is a fact, and it is interesting when you look at the sport as it is today. You could argue that it is absolutely incredible that Wenger has been allowed to stay so long without winning anything (and kudos to Arsenal for not sacking him like many (most?) clubs would have). Obviously we'll never know the answer to this, but I wonder whether even SAF would have been safe at United had he not delivered a trophy in a 500 match period.
  5. Chelsea? Ewwww

I thought it was all pretty good.
  8. It's interesting you follow my post by repeating your troll definition fabfor. What exactly in my post about plane noise was troll behaviour?
  9. Poor lad, that must be shitty for him. Definitely tell the school, they need to do some serious educating for a start. Where is it happening, at school or after school? If it's at school, then the teachers could be aware and "stumble across it" which would allow them to take action without it being obvious you'd spoken to them. Personally I would strongly recommend dealing with it rather than taking him out of the school. How many boys are doing the bullying? I can't imagine it's everyone, so it doesn't really matter if he is never friends with these kids, you can't be mates with everyone, school just doesn't work like that. My old man would have told me to start a fight with the hardest kid in the playground and even if (when) I'd gotten beaten up, I'd earn respect. I suggest avoiding this particular course of action! (I never took his advise by the way)
  10. I work in an office that is 500ft away from the runway at city airport. When I go outside for the occasional fag you can stand and watch planes take off and land and I can still have a conversation without needing to raise my voice. I don't doubt that the noise is annoying to those that say it's annoying. Why would I call them liars. What I find silly is the over egging of the pudding with things like YOU HAVE TO SHOUT ON THE STREET TO BE HEARD WHEN A PLANE IS FLYING OVERHEAD. That's just a nonsense, and doesn't exactly get people onside.
  11. Why do you both think 3 is very unlikely? That one seemed plausible as weather is changing quite drastically iver the last couple of years. I'm no scientist, but it doesn't sound too outlandish to me.
  12. That is brilliant. I can't help but think the OP may have been a wind up though. ED, cats, exploitation, it's a work if art!
  13. *bob* didn't deny that there are more than 2 people that might be bothered by the noise, he even pointed out that once upon a time there was a proper discussion going on. What he is saying is that boring daily updates offer nothing new to the discussion, and are basically fair game for people that are fed up with them and choose to take the p!ss a bit.
  14. Hahaha, this is great, keep it up. Wait, what's that noise?

  16. I'm not a driver and don't have a clue, so need advise. My parents are driving down to Devon to see my nan probably May/June sort of time. My mum is refusing to go in my dad's crappy old car, having broken down last year, and wants to hire an automatic. They don't need flash, just reliable. They'd be leaving on a Monday morning as early as possible, and getting back Friday afternoon. Any recommendations on good car hire firms?

Fellaini is far from your worst midfielder at the moment to be fair to him. But he certainly wasnt top of the shopping list at the start if last summer.

On this point, when Rogers first came to pool my cobcern was that he was too stubborn and had no plan B (selling Carroll seemed silly at the time). But now he has got them playing the way he wants and things are good. The difference I suppose is that we all knew from the outset what Rogers' football philosophy was. With Moyes we don't really know what he wants as an end result, and I'm not totally convinced he does either.

    Yep quite likely.

No, it looks like I made a reasonable comment about the meeting being poorly attended based on the fact that only 2 people are actually on here saying it's a big problem.

Yep, blatant dive, and not good to see, so for that I guess he didn't deserve the later one, even though it was nailed on. Shame Gerrard didn't get the third one in though as it would have been a first hatrick of pens in premiership history.
  23. And Ferguson is about the only common ground between those clubs..

Happy with that! Doesn't look so far like Spurs are going to do us a favour though. What a cracking goal for Arsenal!
